Hello, I've been a customer of Maritime Bus for over 10 years and never used to have issues, until recently. On July 20th 2024, I rode the bus. I was on the phone with a family member and the bus driver told me that I had to get off the phone because he didn't want other passengers hearing me. I wasn't being loud and I wasn't being disrespectful, I was just trying to tell the bus driver that he couldn't kick me off the bus for something I didn't do. Two passengers started to cuss me out and threaten me. I asked the bus driver if they were also going to get kicked off for being hostile, but he ignored me. The passenger who threatened me proceeded to assault me and the bus driver, nor any of the passengers, did anything about it. When I received a response from customer service, they also rejected my complaint and basically told me it was all my fault. This bus terminal seems like it has been around for a very long time. It's not pretty, to say the least, especially compared to the nice and spacious VIA rail station next door. Unlike some other stations, there's no real seating/space for anyone to await the bus from inside, so most people end up lining up in the freezing cold, hoping that their bus will be on time. It would be nice if they could put up some vending machines for drinks or snacks. There are some vending machines a few minutes walk away in the VIA station, but when I was there, the vending machines were so empty that they were even out of stock of water. I ended up trudging through a snow bank with all my luggage to get to the gas station at the adjacent shopping complex, just for some water. Good thing I showed up super early for my ride! read more

these guys made me wait at the airport for over an hour with 2 young kids. He wouldn't let us stop in Dartmouth stop to run in the store and get a snack for them. then we had to wait on the damn bus while people got off an on the bus while my immune compromised son and his brother and I sat and smelled cigarette smoke as people got off to smoke. then I had to ask him to close the door.. you don't hear the kids coughing ... I ride the bus probably a couple times a month back and forth from Halifax/Wolfville. I honesty have no complaints other then the stops are a little annoying but they can't help that and most of them don't take too long. I recently rode the bus from Halifax to Moncton and was pleasantly surprised that they had free wifi on the bus as well as plugs for phones and such. So convinent and made the time pass. The bus also stopped at tims a couple times and it was a good chance to grab a bite. The seats were pretty comfy and clean. Maritime bus you definitely make my life a whole lot easier! read more

Online booking was great. Customer service while riding the bus was absolutely terrible. My trip included a transfer which I was not aware of. When I boarded the first leg of my trip the driver was running late. He was extremely cranky, rushed me while loading my bags, and was obviously annoyed by questions - so I didn't ask him any (which I should have). I Told him where I was going when I boarded and he basically just hurried me onto the bus. At the second stop (the transfer), I stayed sitting on the bus. There was no information given (eg. stop name, transfers done here, etc.). I travel often and assumed I just stayed on the bus, as usually there is some attempt to provide customers with information if transfers are required. Anyway, I figured I better ask. Low and behold, I was supposed to have changed busses. I got onto the second bus (which was directly beside the bus I got off of, thank goodness), and the new driver got mad at me for being late. I told him I was literally sitting on the other bus, my mistake. The thing that was really terrible, is that my first bus driver (who knew where I was going as he just picked me up 10 mins prior) was talking with the second driver outside the entire time. He was aware of my final destination and knew I was supposed to transfer, yet didn't make any attempt to inform me of my transfer or let the other driver (who was apparently waiting for me), know that I was on the bus. Overall, terrible service and quite confusing for someone who is not familiar with the routes. I've had better customer service/less confusion in counteries where I don't even speak the language. Coming from Halifax, we arrived late to our transfer in Amherst. We were told we would only have 5 minutes. Amherst is the only place between Halifax and Fredericton I can quickly grab a meal and stretch my legs. Being a diabetic, I wasn't happy to hear I couldn't grab a bite to eat, but was understanding of the time constraints. We ended up staying for at least 25 minutes. Although yes, I should have packed more food, I have ridden this route several times and never been told I couldn't leave the bus at Amherst before. The fact that we had to sit there for almost a half hour despite being told we only had five minutes was more than a little annoying. Now I'm a hangry diabetic with a crushed granola bar to last me the rest of the day. Next time, be honest about how much time we have. I really could have used a break. read more

I am giving this company a 2 star review. The driver of our bus was quite rude and was on and off the gas while driving which made me nauseous. I also had to change my bus a couple days before the trip which was no issue but the lady I spoke to on the phone about it was quite rude as well. Other than the rude workers, the ride and the rest of the experience was fine. I will probably use this company again just due to sheer convenience...nothing else. read more

On Dec 9, 2014 I phoned MARITIME BUS to make a reservation for my aunt to return home to Sydney. She was here because of a family medical emergency. They asked for a credit card number so I gave them mine as she doesn't have one. An hour later at the hospital we realized another family member was going to go home because things had changed and treatment was delayed. I got on the phone and called MARITIME BUS to cancel the reservation which I assumed they would do. Easiest enough, hardly. Here is why you should never ever use MARITIME BUS, EVER. They refused to make a refund to my credit card, offering only a credit toward an additional trip, oh, and you guessed it, on another MARITIME BUS trip. Now remember I had no idea I was paying for the trip, just giving my CC number to reserve. This was only an hour after I made the initial reservation. At no time when making the reservation with MARITIME BUS was I informed that I was paying for the trip or that if I should cancel, I would only be given a credit. But if that wasn't bad enough, the person gave me a number and said that a credit of $59 dollars had been issued. I said, $59 dollar, the trip was $71. MARITIME BUS may haved just reached into my pocket and stole the $12. At no time when making the reservation did they say I was paying for it or that they would only issue a credit if the reservation was cancelled and not a single word that they would charge a fee of $12 due to cancellation. MY ADVICE, DON'T USE MARITIME BUS. MARITIME BUS IS NOT ORIENTED TOWARDS SERVING THE CUSTOMER OR THE MARITIME PUBLIC BUT LOVE TO TAKE YOU MONEY EVEN IF THEY DON'T PROVIDE THE SERVICE. read more

Do not put anything valuable in a suitcase which will be stowed in the bottom of the bus. My luggage was given to someone who pointed at my suitcase and said it was theirs. They took it at a stop that was not mine. Their suitcase was not the same colour as mine. There was a phone number on a tag on the outside of the suitcase anyone could call. No one did. Staff said this happens all the time. Simply, their attitude was, what's the big deal? My laptop, prescriptions, home made 'Mom' food, clothing, toiletries, personal handwritten family recipes, 3 chargers, were all in the suitcase. I will only take what I can carry onto the bus in the future. read more

Most bus drivers aren't really nice (except one guy who is fantastic) One bus driver literally once told us 'you're on your own' if the weather was to get any worse during the ride. Stupid comments and unfriendly faces are the norm. Prepare your bags to be thrown into the luggage compartment. This one woman at hfx helter takes 15 minutes to print a ticket per person so try and arrive early. Will get you from A to B in time though. read more

Honestly I never know what to expect.. there has been times in the summer where the ac didn't work and it felt like I was sitting in a hot car that's been parked for hours, and there has been times in the winter where the heat didn't work and I could see my breath and my feet were frozen by the time I arrived to my destination also I was told that the would receive a credit for that incident which I did not when I went to book the ticket the person that worked there said I had to call the head office but that didn't help because the bus left in a hour, also I just rode the bus today... on it as we speak, the bus driver clearly told all the passengers we were at a stop for 5 minutes we sat there for about 10 mins about 40 mins back on the road we got a call that we had to go back and get a passenger. Honestly why should everyone else have to suffer because a passenger didn't listen? So now I will be arriving home a hour later then scheduled the way I see it is why make everyone suffer when you were given clear instructions on when the bus is leaving. Also once in the summer time we had to wait in Moncton for two and a half hours while they cabbed passengers from Frederiction because passengers were forgotten, like I said why should the passengers have to suffer for other people's actions? Also the stops are too long in some areas like a 4 hour drive turns in to a 8 hour one.. sucks when you have no other choice. I have used the bus service in the past and have had no complaints. This past month, however, I found the drivers to be rude and that made the entire trip unpleasant. In the first case, a young girl asked the driver if she was on the correct bus to get to PEI. He rolled his eyes and told her "No, it's over there". Coming back, a different driver told us, as we pulled into Moncton, that the bus for Fredericton would be leaving at 5:15 and not before and he then said "So don't bother asking the drivers". Their attitudes really left a lot to be desired and they seemed to be only worried about sticking to their schedule. While we all appreciate that the schedule is important, they should remember that they won't need a schedule if they don't have customers to fill their buses. I was also charged $58 for the trip from Moncton to Halifax airport but $83 for the return trip just one week later. In many cases we have no alternative but to take their buses but I will definitely be looking for other choices in the future. read more
