We tried this great place for the first time last Sunday early afternoon (Mother's Day). Had a booth, super cozy, very cute and colorful ambience. Admired the "Best of Northern Santa Barbara County" awards from several recent years while we perused the menu. An oyster cocktail (a dozen raw, shucked oysters in yummy gazpacho-like tomato and lime, cucumber and onion) $23.99. Fantastic! Also the Camarones Ensenada (house special bacon-wrapped shrimp)- plate, served with tasty refried beans and fluffy, spicy rice $24.99. The bacon wrapped shrimp were very fresh and wrapped so perfectly in an origami-like crispy bacon shell. I loved, loved those. On Sundays they make fresh corn tortillas right there in the dining room. The photo won't do them justice - they were heaven. A tasty fish taco ($6.99) to cleanse the palette, plus a great horchata ($3.99). We lingered and were so impressed by the warm and wonderful service. We saw one of their cocktails made with mint and need to go back soon to try it! The owner was at the register and he is so nice. The parking lot is a bit hectic but not agro. Excellent customer service very accommodating the waitress was very friendly and checked in on us plenty of times and provided everything we needed. Food is excellent my husband ordered a steak and shrimp plate the steak was flavorful and cooked just the way he liked it. I tried a shrimp tostada and fish tacos those were tasty. My only complaint was that the taco gobernador was very spicy I enjoy spicy and can handle spicy but this was overpowering I had to put lemon and salt on it. The ambiance is great plenty of seating the inside hasn't changed it's nostalgic to me and reminds me of when I used to come here when I was younger. Excellent customer service, presentation of food is visually delicious. I ordered combination plate of Cheese Enchiladas, crispy chicken taco with bean and spanish rice. I had a little of the beef that was ordered but it was a little chewy, chicken from taco was a little chewy and the cheese Enchiladas was a little bland. This place has gone downhill. Every time we come here. The aguachiles tasted like bleach , the chille relleno combo was MISSING THE entire chille relleno , got charged for extra for hard tortilla that was stale. Ambience inside is meh. Parking is slim. Tacos governador were said to be toasted (dorados) but instead were very soggy. When I spoke with manager which is owners niece she explains that even when she eats them at the restaurant, she may use a fork since they are so soggy. Had the agua chiles before and it was delicious. The taco gobernador lived up to the hype, that too was delicious. The second time I came here was for taco tuesday; it was not packed. The asada tacos were perfectly seasoned (at least for me), the pastor on the otherhand might have been a little too salty for me even with lemon but it's okay. I also had the tostada la sirenita and the portion was great and the ratio of seafood to tostada was perfect. I have yet to try more items here at this place but so far my experiences have been great. The service was quick and she kept checking in on how I was doing and/or if I needed anything else. The worst restaurant i have ever been to in my life. I asked for a caldo 7 mares and the shrimp were pre cooked cold shrimp. It was 100% tomato,celery and tomato and zero seafood. The service was terrible they gave me about 3 pounds of chips and the salsa looked previously used. The caldo had a piece of fish or something that tasted awful. The total was $35 and i felt like calling the police for calling that a meal. In the end i didn't say anything and paid and didn't leave a tip. I have given this place way too many chances with the poor customer service since I love the ceviche they make however today was the day I will look for other good ceviche in the area. The guy who pretends to be the owner (I don't think he is, if he is shame on him) he is always a bit condescending and not nice to his staff however since we have minimal interaction I put up with it. Today I received my check and noticed they charged me for an extra soda I ask about it when I was paying and he rudely says you only get one refill and we charge for the 3rd (this is a change in policy) I explained I was surprised as I was not informed and this was not a previous practice. He goes on to say it's a tough time for all and now I know IF there's a next time. I mentioned of course there will be another time I enjoy the food he proceeds to lecture me on how everything is expensive. This is no way to treat a long time customer who never complains and continues to come back even if the service is usually below what it should be nonetheless this is my last time here. Let me start by saying that I love seafood. I was visiting my parents in Lompoc and they wanted seafood and had heard this was a good place to go. The food is here is Expensive for the taste and quality of the food. My husband ordered the camarones ala diabla. The sauce tasted like barbecue sauce which is not at all like we have had before. My daughter and I ordered a ceviche tostada. Disappointed, the fish tasted old and the tomatoes were soggy and gross. My oldest ordered the fried Snapper and again the fish wasn't fresh. Incompetent staff, the restaurant lost my debit card. (They called today 10/14/15 to let me know that they found my debit card under the soda machine after I cancelled it and ordered a new one.) I have to go to the bank and get a replacement card, call chase to order a new one, wait over a week for it to be delivered, and when it's time to pay bills this month I will be on the phone with my new card on hand giving my new debit card number. Due to Covid-19, my family and I have been ordering delivery for our safety and others. I was having issues with Door Dash while trying to order from Mariscos Ensenada. I called the restaurant to see if they could help in any way, and they went the extra mile to do so. They apologized for the inconvenience Door Dash was presenting (which isn't their fault to begin with), then they offered to personally deliver our food to us, which I was really appreciative and grateful for. Not what I expected.. I ordered a shrimp toastada and as soon as the waitress put the plate of shrimp tostada on the table I could smell a bad scent.
