Office was most UNhelpful...did not even care...left at 6pm regardless of the fact that our 8 guest party was extremely unsatisfied and grossed out. A cleaning lady was called and Kendall was the best thing that happened all day...she honesty tried to make it the way it should be. She started with the bathrooms (gross!), while WE cleaned the kitchen and washed dishes. Maintenance guy Mike went after hours to get a new window AC unit for the one downstairs that must be 25 years old and non-functionong. I cannot believe that anyone would think it's ok to want people to pay their hard earned money for a place in this condition. Will NEVER recommend this property company.. EVER....

But other issues lead us to conclude that the mgmt is "casual." Issues: twin sheet on full mattress, filthy outdoor shower, sliding doors that don't open, weeds 2' hi, no umbrella for table that takes umbrella, trash in driveway. Also BBQ was left full of old coals - really gross. Impression is that they hire minimal cleaning stuff that just runs thru a minimal checklist. Biggest disappointment was mgmt decision to install new ac when it just needed new filter (old filter was completely coated) . So we were without ac for several hrs and avocet did not offer any gesture of goodwill like a credit or pay for a dinner out. Avocet rep Mandolin was pleasant and responsive in dealing with a/c. Other reps were either no help or actually snippy. Hard to believe....

We have been renting houses on Folly since 1982, and for a long time it was Fred Holland every year. The low score is because we will not rent from Fred Holland again. 1. Most serious problem. A year before our vacation I paid a fee to reserve this house for our desired dates. When the new year came the new prices were set, and I paid the first part of the fee. A couple of months before vacation I got a reminder to pay the balance. No problem. THEN we got an email from Fred Holland that the owner had decided to raise the price -- $1000 per week! With the increased taxes and fees, it was almost $2400. We phoned and explained that we were longtime customers and this just was not right. They promised to call the owner and ask an exception for us. (Meantime we asked a real estate lawyer and he pointed out the contract says "prices subject to change"--which meant we had no case. They had every right to suddenly jump the cost $2400, two months before our vacation. ) We kept phoning and leaving messages, 6 or 8 times, and no one called us back. Finally we got a call that the owners agreed to make an exception. Sheesh! That makes us alert to never again rent from Fred Holland, and never again accept a contract that says "Prices subject to change." It's a shame because we've rented from FH maybe 20 times with no problems. 2. A few days into our 2-week rental, the TV in the living room stopped supplying sound. We phoned and they said they'd ask the owner for a replacement. We phoned again a few days later. No replacement ever came. Try telling your kids on vacation that the TV doesn't work. 3. Much of the living room upstairs lost electricity. They sent someone who said the problem was inside the wall and they wouldn't repair it at that time because we wouldn't want to cope with drywall installation during vacation. Use an extension cord. We discovered accidentally that the problem was inside one of the electric sockets. A little pressure on the socket turned the electricity on. We phoned, and they said they had an electrician scheduled for after our vacation and would it be all right to live with the problem for the remaining days of vacation. We agreed. Not happy. I would give the house itself a much higher score (you have to expect it's going to be Folly-shabby). But these were bad experiences with the Fred Holland company and we won't rent from them again.

Then blamed it on AirBnB saying they listed it for the incorrect price. I looked at the price during the date I had originally booked and it was increased from $381 plus fees to $1165 plus fees. Thats per night!! Over a 300% increase. Will never book anything associated with MyOceanRental again.

    We enjoyed our stay at Folly Beach in a condo rented from My Ocean Rental. We had a very relaxing…read moretime with our family and Folly Beach, both the town and the beach/pier, are very nice. We had a mixed experience with the condo itself, and after writing the review below I realized My Ocean Rental doesn't have a place to post reviews online (nor can you see any reviews from previous occupants of specific condos you might be considering). To get around that, I will post the combined condo/company review here. Condo unit #301 at 201 W Arctic was the least well-stocked of any we have rented, but the condo property was clean and My Ocean Rental staff was very responsive and friendly. We would not choose to stay in this specific condo again (ever) but we would stay in another My Ocean Rental property. Here are the pro's and con's as we saw them. PROS: -- Beautiful beach, great access to the beach, nice pools, very close to Folly stores, coffee shop in the Tides next door. -- The outdoor condo property was very clean, great access to trash cans & recycling with lots of room -- Plentiful shopping carts near the elevators came in handy -- Sand rinse station just inside the locked gates was easy to use and very tidy -- Response time when we had a clogged tub was fast, Charlie was friendly and helpful and can fix just about anything. -- Keyed entrance to the front door allowed any member of our group to run up to the condo without getting a key. -- Porch is very large with nice table/chairs available, good view of ocean (though not a full Eastern view, mostly the Tides parking lot with the ocean to one side) -- Seating was ample with big leather couch, ottoman and large table with 8 chairs. -- Plates, glasses, mugs and silverware were ample. CONS: -- The dishwasher in Unit 301 DOES NOT clean dishes! When we arrived the center spray arm was laying in bottom of the DW. I re-connected, but to no avail. Dishes got rinsed (I guess) but the soap was mushed in the bottom of DW when cycle complete and random dishes were still slimy. -- Badly stocked kitchen. The chintzy old can opener does not work (we borrowed one from the owner's parents staying in the facility, thanks). The absolute BARE minimum of other cooking tools are provided, and these are the cheapest quality. There are no measuring cups, spoons, spatulas, pancake flipper. The only spice is salt. No filters for the coffeepot (but we left about 96, so unless the cleaners dispose there should be plenty for the next family!!) -- Sprayer for the kitchen sink completely broken, missing squeeze lever. -- Next time I'll pay more attention to photos of the kitchen in units I rent. This one needs a makeover and has cheapest of cheap counters, sink, faucet. I expected more for over $400 per night. -- Would be nice to provide more than 1 roll of TP per bathroom for clients staying 2+ nights. Would also be nice to provide hand soap, dish soap and at least 2 kitchen trash bags per day of rental. This was not expensive, but definitely registered as an annoyance given the price. -- Two of the bathtubs were completely clogged when we checked in. Left standing in 15" of dirty water by the end of my first shower (gross!!). The back bathroom is probably still clogged because Charlie fixed the middle one but my kids didn't tell me until later theirs had the same problem. -- I was reminded how much I dislike electric stoves, but I suppose that can't be changed. -- There is no working lighting in the middle bedroom, only a small lamp on the bedside (there is a big lamp on dresser but it doesn't work). -- Multiple bulbs were dead in the kitchen, dining area. I like to read honest reviews, so I hope I have provided one. Again, we WOULD rent from My Ocean Rental again, but I will avoid Condo #301 unless the kitchen, plumbing and lighting get some serious attention.

My family group of 10 stayed here over the Easter Holiday and had a fantastic experience. There were 4 kids and it was perfect for them as well. The listing and details of amenities was just as advertised. Before we checked in, we got visit from Holly, one of the Property Managers. She wanted to do a 'walk-thru' to make sure everything was good. We stayed at the Aluha, which we would highly recommend! We especially liked the large parking area below, there is a large screened porch with comfortable sofas and chairs and two outside decks and one with a large gas grill. It's great location just across the street from a beach access point. The only thing that could have made it better was a Keurig coffee maker. Maybe next time?

They've been running all night...non stop!!! The house is constantly shaking, triggering my vertigo. I haven't slept all night!!!! I left a voicemail to the office in the morning but they simply didn't care. They said there's nothing they can do because their rental agreement said that the city may be working on beach erosion prevention at anytime. However, this is a planned project building out a pipeline along the shore that they didn't mention anything about. This is not acceptable!!! And not good business!

The day we checked in and went to go to bed that night, we discovered a raised brown stain (looked like feces) on the master bedroom sheets as well has hair all over pillow area of sheets. I did call the after hours # and they did suggest I look for spares in the closets, which I did find ones for the 2 other bedrooms but not the master. There was only a spread in master closet. She did offer to drive from 15 mins away but I decided to sleep in one of the twin beds because it was late and we had driven the whole day, until the following day. I did ask them to please replace all bedding on that bed the next day, but they only replaced the sheets and the put the spread that was on top of the feces looking sheets back on top of the clean sheets. Not one time did the rental office call to see if we needed anything or if everyone was taken care of. Their reply (Becca) was, we figured you would call us if something was not satisfactory. When I am paying $2400 for a 4 night stay, first of all I don't plan to see feces on the sheets and the head part of bed covered in hair......so at check out we brought this up again only to be told we would have to wait till the manager was back in the office and they would contact us......5 days have passed without so much of a call. They said they are very doubtful that what we saw on the sheets were feces and that there were plenty of sheets in unit for me to have put clean ones on myself. Finally, after reaching out again today, they are offering our cleaning fee back. I wanted to laugh, not only were they calling us a liar that what we seen on sheets was not feces.....regardless of what it was......I should not be changing stained sheets or waiting for someone to come and do, for a home that averaged to $600 a night with all fees. The customer service is laughable we found with Charleston Coasts Vacations/Dune Properties. We have rented several units from them over the years but after the unprofessionalism they showed this was out last!!! If you have never rented from them before they want you to strip the beds and put lines at the door when you check out as well as empty all garbage and take to road and run dishwasher.....what is the cleaning fee we paid at reservation for?.....the maids to leave the sheets on bed from the previous renter?.....never again.
