Had a blast! I read…read moreall of the reviews and got worried about booking here after seeing so many bad ones, but after talking to them on the phone I decided to give them a try. Maybe all the bad reviews were because of overbooking in the middle of summer, but we did early October with a 94 degree day and had zero problems. The employees were very helpful, fun/joking, and in high spirits. The boat was perfect! Nice big ice cooler, loud speakers, great jumping deck and slide. Everyone was easy to get along with and we had a blast. Definitely going to recommend to others and come back. The only bad thing is we booked for 4 hours and we should have booked for 6.

This is not a place for "JUST FUN", it's total "JUST DISASTER"…read more This is not our first go around with JUST FOR FUN on lake Lewisville. You would think that with all their years of service and how much they charge to rent these boats they would be able to maintain them. Apparently not. After 3 years of renting from them and having issues every time, it was time for me to come on here and voice my severe disappointment with this company. The crew is fine and has always been fun. But as far as the boat itself, come on JUST FOR FUN, it's now 2013 and your boats look like the year 2000. June 29, 2013 was the last straw for us ever using Just for Fun, EVER. We had a large party that was being HOSTED by the party barge. Several of us host each year and instead of getting on friends boats, we bite the bullet and ride on the barge so our friends without boats do not have to worry and can enjoy the fun. All we ask is that everyone splits the cost between 50 people. And so we do. We do this annual lake party once a year, we have friends fly in from other parts of the country to party. We get a DJ and that is not cheap. We have at least 100 other people on friends boats meet us up for a day of fun. We contract the barge from 10AM-6PM months in advance. We have an invite put out 2 months in advance. So we are pretty organized and completely dependent that JUST FOR FUN will have their side of the bargain together. This year the boat was not contracted by me but by my friend who I helped along int he process. We get to the lake by 9:30AM to have everyone sign waivers and prepare to load the barge. The barge isn't even gassed up. It takes off to get fueled and does not returen till 10:15AM. Before it even takes off, the front desk girl (poor soul) has to tell us that 1 of the 3 barges has failed for the day and we have to cut our party short so that they can fit everyone in for the day. Honorable thing to do but we have a large party and we are the first to depart. We had no warning before showing up, no phone call. We were told we would have to cut our time down and they gave us no other option. Our party would be done by 2:30 and be back at the dock by 3PM. We were cut short 3 hours and they were making everyone else do the same. (So we are told) Before we can even take off to the lake the motor dies and starts to drift back towards their pontoon rentals. They tie us off one dock and another employee holds the barge trying to not damage the pontoon boat. The captain threatens to not even take us out because the motor keeps dieing. SO our DJ does not want to start setting up if he's just going to have to break back down. We loose our first hour just to them gassing up the barge and now having motor issues. Oh yes, you still have to back by 3PM. So we don't even head out to the waters till 11AM! I won't discuss the struggles we had on the lake because the wind had a lot to do with time wasted on the lake and finding a good spot to party. The captain did his best and he was a nice fellow. We did however have a friend loose two fingers in the process of trying to move around the lake. He was not on the barge at the time but he was apart of the barge rental 50 and was rushed back to the docks and to an ER..... we can go on with stories but that was the worst. JUST FOR FUN, charged us for a full day and didn't refund any of it. Only gave the contracted party a Gift Certificate for future use that does not help the other 48 people who paid to be on the barge. Plus, who wants to use a GC to a company who can't fulfill their obligations to begin with? The barge is old, the toilet is nasty, we brought our own toilet papper because of past experience they did not provide any. The deck is wood on bottom and could use some sprucing up. The top is metal and gets hot under the sun. The slide does not always work. The motor stops and dies and obviously the barge needs a new motor. Just know, it's not as pretty as the pictures they show you. If anyone has a looking for a new business adventure, try becoming their competition. All you have to do is be more customer oriented.

Not only that but management was very disrespectful when we complained about our experience. If there are other services, go there! The positive reviews sucked me in but it really must depend on the captain you have. Either way, take the risk if you want. I heard the captain of the other ship that went out talking about the people on his ship negatively so I'm sure our captain did the same. Not worth all of that for the lake we went to. Steer clear.

I immediately respond-introducing myself and inquiring about the boat. He responds FIVE HOURS LATER!! He says name and credit card are needed to reserve...I'm not comfortable TEXTING sensitive information like that. He says they reserve over the phone and I ask for a receipt or PayPal request for payment and he NEVER responded. From May 23-May 25 he gave me and another friend the run around. Unprofessional and confusing. Also: American Watercraft Rentals AND Lake Lewisville Boat Rentals are the SAME COMPANY...

Underpowered, over priced, poorly maintained ski boats…read more We rented a "SKI BOAT" from Sam's Docks Sunday August 9th for 4 hours. The staff was friendly and helpful and the boat didn't break down. That's about it for positives. Although they advertised a Ski Boat with 300HP that would be perfect for any skiing, wakeboarding or tubing we wanted to do, what we got was a beat up bow rider sport boat that struggled to plane even before there was anything being towed. These boats don't have enough power to pull a wake board or skier. If that's what you want to do at the lake, these will let you down. The drivers seat was extremely loose, rocking wildly left and right all day. Looking underneath, the screws holding the chair to the mount where backed all the way out. The speedometer didn't work and the steering wheel had substantially excess play . Cosmetically the boat was clean but really beat up. Chips and gouges out-of the fiberglass finish all over the place, the passenger side windshield had been replaced with glass that didnt fit the frame, leaving a 2 inch gap between the top of the glass and the metal window frame. The bottom line is that the boats are very poorly maintained, underpowered and not well suited to the activities they specifically rent them for. All of this, and they are hands down the most expensive rentals around and will never refund your money after you book with them, for any reason. We have since found that there are plenty of private chartes available in the area for less money, waaaay better boats that are legit wake / ski boats! Best of all they come with a captain, all the toys you need and most will fully refund if you have to cancel as long as you give at least 24hrs notice. Should have done some looking around before renting at Sams. Hopefully this will help some of you avoid making the same mistake.

Then we found out that it's not even legal for him to do what he had advertised on Facebook. The staff at Sam's Dock was amazing and worked it out so that we could have a Pontoon Boat and still enjoy the day with our family who was in town from CA. They saved the day! They were friendly, helpful and concerned for us being taken advantage of by the Facebook guy. It's pricey to rent a boat, but it was such a great time, it was worth every penny!
