When I first got my pups, Healthy Pet was the only place where I could find natural food options for dogs. So that leads me to believe they are in the know on what's best for your pets, before other stores do. Another reason I like coming here, are the free roaming cats. No, I'm not a crazy cat lady!! It's fun when for me when I come across one, and a couple are very friendly and like to be pet. This is something I like because my daughter is allergic to cats and I can no longer have kitties in my place. Years ago, my father brought me here and we discovered they had cats available for adoption. Of course I fell in love with one and had to have her. The process and what they required for someone to adopt was a bit strict. They will not let you adopt if you plan on letting the cat out. At least back then they wouldn't. We got a lecture on the dangers of letting a cat outdoors and we had to swear we'd keep her inside. I thought this was a bit much. But when the lecture was over and I swore I'd keep her inside, I left with a kitty. They have a program for pet food, where if you buy ten bags, you get one free. I personally think this is a good deal. The pet bed and leash/harness selection isn't great, but they have enough. They have bulk bird food I buy for both my outside bird feeders and my inside parakeet, who has a preference for their bird food. They have a nice fish selection, both salt water and fresh. And they still have a cat adoption clinic, in their store. Every time I go there, there are quite a few available. If you're looking for specialty dog food brands, or the usual brands, and a more personal form of customer service, this is a nice place. I'm giving four stars and not five because of their requirements for cat adoptions, semi limited hours, and lack of non food dog items such as leashes etc. Oh, the cat I adopted, Sophie. She lived to be 13 and was an outdoor cat her whole life. She could often be found under the lilac tree or on the walkway getting a cat tan, often accompanied by the other outdoor cats of the neighborhood.

I understand everything is going up, but this was sticker shock. Bulk was $1.99 for the longest time so when it went up to $2.49 in one jump I thought it was steep but I understood. Then, only a few weeks later it went up to $2.99 (or 2.89?)!! That hurt. So now I will be going back to Wild Birds Unlimited because they are actually competitive since this price increases after your 15% bird food discount (with their membership) and $10 off for every 200 you spend, the math speaks. There are still a couple of items that I will buy here but they just priced themselves out of my major bird food spending. Agway also went up but their sunflower chips and seed are still reasonably priced. No store loyalty incentive except for a specific manufacturer which doesn't apply to most of my purchases. Hopefully something will change and I'll return to doing the bulk of my bird food shopping there.

Bethany was just so kind and communicative throughout the wait and then once Hugo and his littermates were born. The second pup, which she gave us for a discount due to her alleged "Health Guarantee" came from different parents but after 4 years has now started having seizures and is on anti-convulsants. What was an incredibly stressful time was made easier by the gentle guiding and kindness of Dr. Diaz. He was wonderful and it made the heartbreaking loss of our little buddy easier to take. After having experienced previous losses with a traditional visit to a vet, this was so much more easy for a cat and us, allowing our cat to avoid the stress of travel to the vet, and allowing us to grieve in the privacy of our own home during the process.
