We called to determine the prices of each individual meal and "the manager" was stumbling to tell us the prices for everything. Even with the fake numbers that were given to us it still didn't add up correctly. I remember the prices for the 3 meals my family and I ordered and I remember what the check said. I let it be because maybe they need more than I do. As for the food, I'm born and raised on the border of Mexico and although I must say it does scream authenticity especially on appearance the meat is bland, and that "Mexican rice" is by far the worst tasting rice I've had. For a casual person that likes Mexican food you may like it, but if you know what you're tasting you will not. Also, they didn't have 4 different things on the menu available ultimately leading me to have to go with my 5th option. It is very expensive for what it is, and even more expensive when your waitress manipulates the system.

We kept getting bumped by workers in the narrow traffic space and the margaritas were heavily watered down with salt on the rim an afterthought. To add insult to injury, the much smaller shrimp were separated from the rice, very dry (overcooked) and tasteless. They were served on a flat plate not conducting to hold butter or whatever they used to cook the garlic in and the poor shrimp looked like they didn't belong there. I take they have a different chef and are cutting costs because everything is more expensive now. Well, so was our bill that took a ridiculous hike. The price that stuck to my memory was the garlic shrimp, from $25 to $34 for a much smaller and inferior quality dish. So from being our favorite Mexican place in Gables to being taken off the list.
