The female worker at the cashier wanted to get her family in (they were right in front of us) and lied to the rest of the line that was in the building already they it would be fine. Her family was the only family that was allowed to take professional photos with Santa before security came to cut the line off. Nepotism at its finest despite the fact it was already 4p. Common sense and common courtesy was lacking in Christmas spirit today. Luckily, Santa had the Xmas spirit and took selfies with the rest of us in line (the long line outside, I'm not so sure). The employees need to be trained in managing the line better and cutting it off before people stand in line for over an hour. Thanks, Santa! Next year they should have two monitors - one to take the photos and the other so people can select. Then all the employees can be doing something useful at all times to keep the line moving along. Otherwise, it was the same person - the photographer taking the photos, helping choose the photos, explaining the packages, etc. Super inefficient when there is a line - you could tell they weren't used to it.

There were 15 stops within downtown Alameda surrounding Park Street to stop and try Tequila and Mezcal. Each stop, most of them were table set outside offered food to go with the tasting of alcohol. Of all the stops I was able to visit there were a few that stood out! At Tomatina the meatball was good. Daisy's had my favorite Tequila of night, Moxies offered a slice of tender beef covered with mole , La Penca Azul offered chicken flautas, La Lena offered chicken or corn tostados and Dragon Rouge offered potstickers and noodles. Everything we ate was good and I enjoyed getting to try many types of tequilas and mezcals, I'd never had. I'd definitely go again for a fun and festive outing!

There's also a variety of trendy chain restaurants and eateries. I recently tried the brand new Jollibee, and afterwards I enjoyed frozen yogurt at Yogurtland across the street. Early development of Alameda Landing began in 2008. What used to be here? The land Alameda Landing sits on used to be a US Navy Supply Depot. Alameda Point used to be an active duty Naval Air Station, which closed in the 1990's. Old time Alameda residents might remember a drive-in movie place too. Alameda Landing draws people from all over Alameda and the surrounding communities. Everyday I see a line at the In-And-Out Burger wrapped around the block. Both anchor stores offer huge parking lots. There's several ways to get to Alameda Landing. Locals know to drive behind the Tube buildings, and enter by Target. I only came by because I was looking for a Sally store, I happened to be driving back from somewhere else and had to do a detour. I walked around to get some steps in and was glad to see it. I usually go to Southshore and I think that place has more to offer than this one. But it's not bad, and if in the area. I could come here. But it wouldn't be a destination. It doesn't have a beach behind it like South Shore Center does and it also isn't near street, Park St, which has an amazing food scene. So that's also a consideration. But, it's not bad, and as I said, if in the area, I may swing by.

Drinking and dancing was probably my favorite thing to do here. That combination is no more as of late. A more frequently used excuse to come here is to spend 10 minutes in Dollar Tree. Peruse the place before going to eat and I never use a bag here so I restrict my purchase volume capacity. Lingering (ie legal loitering) is okay. Wondering about the moment while taking in the views and sounds along the waterfront is usually easy. There is a shoreline parking space. Maybe a tall boat will open the Park Street Bridge. I've been shopping at this location for very long time. How long is that? I shopped here when the anchor stores were RiteAid and Alpha Beta. Sometime in the early 2000's, they did a major facelift and created today's Bridgeside Shopping Center. The anchor is a Nobhill Foods. What's an anchor store? An anchor store attracts customers to the shopping center. Personally, I don't shop at Nobhill. I come here to go to Baskin-Robbins, The Cheese Steak Shop, WingStop or Ohana Hawaiian BBQ. You can sit under the trees, watch the boats, stretch out on the grass, listen to live music, and simply enjoy the waterfront. The square itself is pedestrian-friendly, so you can relax without traffic rushing by. Sundays are especially enjoyable with the farmers market and live performances. Today I'm listening to the talented musicians from the Oaktown Jazz Workshops, who also have a home right here in Jack London Square. Every now and then, you'll hear a train passing by, which somehow adds to the character of the place. I'm really going to miss The Plank. It was such a fun community gathering spot and a place where I often came just to unwind. Another bonus is the free shuttle from Alameda, which makes getting here easy and enjoyable. Whether you're looking for a meal, a movie, a waterfront stroll, or simply a peaceful no cost place to sit and recharge, Jack London Square is well worth a visit.
