I do not have enough words to express how amazing Dr. Marin Xavier at Scripps is!!! I had a terrible experience at City of Hope! Doctors never reached out or knew my name after months, appointment were months behind and/or the day of your appointment the infusion rooms would be two to three hours behind. I chose to leave and find a new treatment center. I was blessed to find Dr. Xavier at Scripps in San Diego who was referred by a friend. She reached out within days, knew my history, was kind, compassionate, and willing to help. She is such a pleasure to meet with and always thorough in explaining what is happening; providing detail in terms we can understand. She responds to my emails the same day! She doesn't have her support staff reach out unless it's a basic question, like med refill. A cancer journey is horrid, and it takes an amazing doctor to make it a pleasant in knowing that your doctor is doing all she can to help and at the same time allowing you to have a voice in the decision process. This Dr. here is the BEST DOCTOR I have ever met in my entire life. Her heart was born to care and it shows. My prayer is that she never becomes so routine that what makes her stand out never goes away. She connects with her patients and forms a bond unlike many other doctors. While others are practicing medicine she seems to have become a scholar in her field. She has never brushed me off and always make herself available. She has even called me to check on me. On a scale one to ten, I give her a million. If I had a word for her, it would be, "Continue being you and never become common in your field. YOU stick out like a sore thumb just being you! So due to COVID, I haven't met Dr. Xavier in person, but I've had 2 video appointments with her and her team - both helpful and thorough. I chose her due to an anemia issue that I've had an issue finding out the cause. Staff has been helpful and supportive and worked to promptly schedule appointments and blood work as needed. She even ordered some tests just to rule out anything outside of the box. Her "bedside manner" has been great and she's explained options and theories to try to explain what's going on, why and how as well as next steps. Although I'd prefer in-person appointments, she's been prompt and helpful through all of our video appointments. She has been nothing but professional, thorough and caring. Dr Xavier is decent but this office and Scripps as a whole is horrible. I had an annual appt. She walked in, said "You're good," and walked out. Then an hour later, I got a call from them claiming I left without additional tests they wanted to run because my original blood tests were abnormal. If they wanted to run tests, they should have said something while I was there instead of acting like I left knowing they wanted tests performed. I even asked TWICE before I left if that was it. Plus I'm not ok if my tests are abnormal, so her saying "You're good" wasn't correct. When I called to get the blood lab info, they acted like they didn't know anything about the blood lab. I had to ask for the phone number and the female that answered got an attitude like I was bothering her. When I showed up for the labs, they acted like they didn't even know where the labs were. They said it's "somewhere across the street" and didn't know what floor. Then when I found the lab on my own, the lab said one of the tests showed I have to go to a different lab. So now I have to go back a third time when all of the labs could have been done the first time I was there for my original appt. Besides all that, parking is ridiculous. This Dr is amazing. I feel she really cares about my health and me as a person. Her assistant, Dr Moeller, is equally great. After every appointment I feel informed, valued, and cared for. Great Doctors providing great treatment and I'm so thankful to call them my Doctors. read more

I wrote a review last month, but it looks like it didn't get added. So, let me try again. After several attempts to find the right Doctor, my wife set an appointment with Dr. Xavier. What a difference in care. Open, honest and most of all, caring. Caring, not just listening and going "uh-hu, uh-hu" like many others do! She reviewed my medical records and discussed All that was going on with me and made me feel that she was ACTUALLY concerned about my health. What a difference. My condition scared me really badly and she helped ease my concern by explaining, in detail, what my condition was and the best way to attack it. Not just, here's a prescription and call me if there is a change... I've read the other reviews left for her and I TOTALLY agree with everything that was mentioned. I know there are other doctors out there like her, but not enough of them. I wish no one needed this type of treatment, but because many do, it's nice to have people like her to look out for us. My wife is my angel, but my Scripps doctors and staff members are not far behind her. Hope you don't need this service, but if you do, I can't recommend strongly enough this wonderful and patient Doctor. read more

Simply the best. Dr. Xavier not only is my Dr. who has done all she can to help me with my rare blood disease, but in the process, has become someone I consider a friend. (Our husbands are both surfers) I trust her and always feel in great hands in her care. She listens and is always willing to try to help. She has fought to get me on two different drugs that only she could probably pull off. The current one I'm on was needed but is still in clinical trials. During all the Covid world insanity and she managed to get me approved through Compassion Care. I'm so thankful. Her staff has all been great as well and Sheila her assistant has been super helpful too. To find out that she and a few of my other Dr.'s are joining to help others with Mastocytosis as a specialty clinic bring me joy beyond belief and gives me hope. I don't wish this condition on anyone but it sure helps having Dr.'s who truly care. Thank you Dr. Xavier. Love you mucho. read more

Dr. Xavier is just the absolute best. My dad has been receiving treatment for lung cancer from her since 2012. She is awesome! I walked into Dr. Xavier's office filled with fear. I already knew I had lymphoma, but not much more. My nerves were calmed the moment I stepped off the elevator, greeted by the most genuine smile I can imagine from her receptionist. That same warm smile shined from each and every face in that office that day, and every other that took me there. When I met Dr. Xavier she told me she'd seen my test results, and that I was the kind of patient she looked forward to meeting because she was going to cure me. And then....she did just that. I did my homework before trusting a doctor, and I chose her. I also have an inside track that told me that she was "a rock star in her field", and that all the people in her office gave up jobs other places because they wanted to work there. If ever there was someone I'd recommend, it's the woman who saved my life...Dr. Xavier. My only disappointment right now is that there are only five stars available to a doctor AND her staff that deserve twice that and more. 'Confident, calm, pleasant, friendly and patient' describes the entire staff. My wife and family and I consider ourselves to be luckier than any lotto winner that I've been in her care.
