The facility is always clean, the equipment is modern and well-maintained, and there's plenty of space so it never feels overcrowded even during busy hours. The locker rooms are also really nice and kept in great condition. One of the highlights of this location is the staff. Everyone is friendly and welcoming, and you can tell they genuinely care about creating a good environment for members. Nick in particular stands out. He's always helpful, professional, and brings great energy to the gym. Whether it's answering questions or just making people feel welcome. Additionally, Fitness SF outperforms the local competition; five points fitness, body kinetics, and the bay club all have worse hours, higher prices, and worse equipment (significantly worse regarding five points) If you're serious about building your physique, or just want a high quality, friendly environment to work out in, this gym is right for you If you or anyone you know truly believes an alternative gym in Marin is better than Fitness SF, your IQ is most likely lower than your bench. BUT! That's ok! Switch to Fitness SF and our community and equipment will get you right, physically and mentally. I know for a fact if you come here for just one month you'll never want to switch back to your old gym. Overall, its a fantastic place to work out. Great equipment, great atmosphere, and great staff. Highly recommend it to anyone looking for a quality gym in the area. Oh and I almost forgot we've got some wonderful massage chairs for post lift relaxation.

I want to highly recommend Maria Molina as a personal trainer at the Bay Club, Marin. I initially…read morestarted working with Maria to recover from a knee injury. I wanted to strengthen my leg muscles so that I could return to playing tennis. As someone who is over 80 yrs old, I was somewhat skeptical that weight training could make a big difference in my athletic abilities but one year and half later of training with Maria and I believe I'm more physically fit than I was in my 40's. Everything is easier (i.e., walking up stairs, carrying heavy loads, keeping up with grandkids ,etc.) To say my quality of life has improved due to my work with Maria is an understatement, Maria is a consummate professional. She explains exercises clearly, pays attention to form and keeps sessions motivating and enjoyable. One day when I was lifting weights on my own at the gym, a gentleman commented, "I see that you are experienced with weight lifting, Your form is perfect. You must have been doing this for many years." I give Maria full credit for teaching me the right (safe) way to lift. I occasionally have a few sore muscles but recovery is quick after a workout. Probably the most important thing I've learned from Maria is to believe in myself. Sometimes she tries a new exercise that I think is impossible for me to achieve, let alone master. Her confidence is unwavering and has a profound effect on my mental attitude. I see few women my age working out with weights at the Bay Club. I hope this review will encourage someone who is considering personal training to contact Maria. You will be amazed at what you can accomplish with her expert guidance.

Her classes are high-energy, fun, and always a fantastic workout. What sets her apart is her contagious positivity--she's genuinely happy to be there with us, and it shows. Every workout with Violet leaves you in a great mood. I only wish she taught more than just Ignite--I'd follow her to any class! --Helen is exceptional. She's not only an amazing instructor, but also a standout leader and role model. She teaches a variety of classes and every single one is top-notch. Her glutes class in particular literally kicks ass--in the best way! --Meg is one of the best TRX instructors I've ever had. Her instruction is clear, her class structure is thoughtful, and the challenge level increases over time, which I truly appreciate. She also provides great options for those wanting to push further. Bay Club is incredibly lucky to have these phenomenal teachers. I hope they are recognized and supported--because they absolutely deserve it!

When you look at recent photos of yourself and your head look larger than usual - it's most definitely time to join Team Tully. I never thought that I'd ever need a personal trainer (let alone, write a review of one). But guys, let's face reality - when you hit your mid to late 30s, your metabolism doesn't work the same way it did when you were in your 20s. And if you don't maintain a proper diet and exercise regime, those excess pounds will add up in no time! Chris Tully came recommended to me by a co-worker/friend. She had trained with him at the Lark Stairs for 3-4 months and lost over 30 lbs. And then another friend of mine (who's preparing for October wedding), started training with Chris and was singing his praises. So after a good look in the mirror and my waist-line, I finally made the decision to give him a call. And 3 months later, I'm so glad that I did. Chris has a training circuit that he calls "StairCross." No, it's not CrossFit. Trust me, I tried CrossFit and didn't like it. While I respect the folks who train with CrossFit, I've seen way too many people get injured from it. Plus, the over all mentality behind the program felt a little cult-like at times. But what ever... to each their own. StairCross is a one-hour interval training work-out that combines cardio (running up the Larkspur Stairs) with resistance training (push-ups, sit-ups, dips) and stretching (lunges, elastic bands, etc.). There's no need for gym equipment here. With StairCross, nature is your playground/gym. The Larkspur Stairs and nearby Madrone Canyon (across from the Tavern at Lark Creek) is the perfect setting for your work-out. You get a nice of sunshine and shade. It's not too loud or crowded (however, you might run in to the occasional squirrel or neighborhood cat). What really appeals to me about StairCross is that you're always mixing things up while keeping your heart-rate up. And so the hour goes by in no time. And in that time, you certainly sweat a lot and burn a bunch of calories. Chris is a natural-born trainer. He certainly practices what he preaches. In fact, he does most of the circuit training with you - so it's like having your own work-out partner as opposed to some angry drill sergeant yelling at you to drop down and 50 push-ups. Chris is sensitive to your personal limits. He understands that every person has their own pace and physical boundaries. It's been 3 months since I started training with Chris, and I feel so good after every work-out (I really do). Sure, some mornings are harder than others, and I would love to stay in bed. But I always feel a sense of accomplishment after our work-outs. So if you're looking to get back in shape with a friendly trainer in a beautiful outdoor setting - I would highly recommend signing up with StairCross: Team Tully. I hope to see you soon on the Larkspur Stairs!

TEAM TULLY IS THE BEST THING THAT EVER HAPPENED TO ME!…read more I Moved here from Arizona and had free time on my hands and an insecure conscience about my weight and how I was not happy about where I was. Being 20 years old and constantly having weight issues on your mind is just not conducive to a long happy and healthy lifestyle. I met Chris who told me he was a personal trainer, and offered for me to come try Staircross for free to see if it would be a good fit and something that might be able to help me. I was nervous at first because I had not worked out in quite sometime and was never comfortable with trainers. I also informed him that gyms were not my style and that I was uncomfortable being in them. Staircross was a perfect solution, because all training is done outside and on your own pace until you feel comfortable enough to advance to his next levels of training. He has a great way of motivating(NOT PUSHING) you to better yourself through the power of workouts. He also discussed food routines and healthy options so that my workouts would be better accompanied by healthier eating. I LOST 30 POUNDS IN 3 1/2 MONTHS! I went 3-4 days a week the first 2 months and ramped up to 4-5 times a week for the last 1 & 1/2 months of my program. I have never felt more confident and accomplished in my entire life. Chris really knows what he is doing and has been training for 15+ years. He makes the whole experience comfortable and smooth and I am so lucky I was able to find him!! I hope anyone who is looking for personal training, weight loss help, circuit training, or even a basic workout partner gives Chris a call. He has changed my life for the better and I can't thank him enough!

When I first started working out with Parand, I had exercised sporadically over the years but nothing really stuck. My scheduled work-outs with her helped me get into the best shape of my life and begin to incorporate fitness as a regular and ongoing habit. Over this time, I also lost about 20 pounds and significantly increased my overall strength and flexibility. In the beginning, I took private classes as honestly I felt too uncoordinated and out of shape to work out in front of other people. Over time, I then graduated to her group classes. Both formats I enjoyed and found helpful. Parand has a wide repertoire of workouts, and it's always interesting. Parand is also just a lovely human being. It was always great to catch up with her during my classes. If you are trying to find new ways to be active, I really recommend starting with Parand as a first step.
