A jewel on the Yorke Peninsula.
We were taking a day trip and looking for a pie shop. Most of the pie shops have closed and rest of the pubs' kitchens were closed between meal hours. Marie's was the only place open in Yorketown and even though we arrived past business hours we were welcomed like we were entering someone's home. Even though most of the pies were were sold they had several left and they were nothing short of spectacular. The three of us shared a Singapore beef pie, butter chicken pie, sausage roll, and my new favorite a cheese Kransky (a kielbasa sausage with cheese and kraut within a puff pastry). They came to our table served with a homemade green salad and possibly the most spectacular potato salad I have ever experienced.
They also had homemade jams and Rocky Road with several unique flavors, all with macadamia nuts.
This now serves a new problem...the length of drive to eat here again. read more
