Dad had a coffee and a slice of carrot cake, while mum and I chose to have something more substantial. (Dessert is substantial right?) Mum ordered the three cheese souffle which was served with what I can only describe as a beetroot terrine. The souffle was yum and now I'm tempted to try and make it at home, as well as the beetroot terrine. Layers of beetroot and beetroot jelly. I ordered the shiraz poached pear served with vanilla ice cream. This dish was also yum but seeing as the menu seemed to be favouring local produce I was expecting more. I felt that the dish was served with too much of the poaching liquid I would have liked it to be strained as biting into a bay leaf wasn't all the appetising. That said the pear was yummy and a I enjoyed the meal. I just would have liked the pear to have been cored so I didn't have to eat around the pips and I would have prefered home made ice cream. Some of the best milk in the area could really be utilised here. Would I come back? Absolutely! Would I expect less than the menu seems to promote? Yes, and it will be enjoyable.

Needless to say, as soon as I discovered this place I stopped, jumped out, and grabbed a coffee. Unfortunately, I didn't have time to grab some breakfast, but I did grab what turned out to be an awesome coffee. Yeah, my gut feeling turned out to be correct, this place was awesome, but then again many of the awesome coffee shops happen to be located in the back streets, much like this one.

When I asked for a refund, it took quite a while and only the sandwich was refunded, not the coffees we'd had while waiting. The food in the display cabinet looked fairly average, so perhaps it was just as well we didn't wait any longer. Overall, a disappointing experience and not one I'd return for.

A jewel on the Yorke Peninsula…read more We were taking a day trip and looking for a pie shop. Most of the pie shops have closed and rest of the pubs' kitchens were closed between meal hours. Marie's was the only place open in Yorketown and even though we arrived past business hours we were welcomed like we were entering someone's home. Even though most of the pies were were sold they had several left and they were nothing short of spectacular. The three of us shared a Singapore beef pie, butter chicken pie, sausage roll, and my new favorite a cheese Kransky (a kielbasa sausage with cheese and kraut within a puff pastry). They came to our table served with a homemade green salad and possibly the most spectacular potato salad I have ever experienced. They also had homemade jams and Rocky Road with several unique flavors, all with macadamia nuts. This now serves a new problem...the length of drive to eat here again.

Yeah, this place was rather nice, and being close to the beach as well also helps, but that is probably why it happens to be one of those takeaway places.

The menu is basic with burgers and wraps getting a strong showing but don't let that turn you off as they all taste great. If you have kids this is a really great venue as well. I just wish I lived closer to this gem as a typical visit takes a 20min drive for me

Staff was friendly and rather unobtrusive. Menu looks fine, we just had coffees, hot chocolate and cookies. Although fairly average, it fills a spot and beats the usual truck stop or ferry coffee. Bathrooms are clean, and the cafe has some toys and board games for small and big kids.
