The staff here graciously glide through customers ensuring that everyone's needs are met. This is all done with a smile and passion for their profession. One thing I really love in a business is when you see the staff enjoying themselves. It is kind of infectious! You just want to be around them more and support such a positive environment and business. It is all about starting your day in the right way! Décor is simple and funky with cool wooden rustic looking tables. The menu is also simple, which shows that they are confident in what they deliver. With my love of bagels, I did not have to second-guess what I wanted for brekkie. It is served with herbed cream cheese, smoked salmon, capers, watercress and pickled onions. Woo! However, after ordering it seems I had to get there earlier. They had run out of bagels! But, the staff where kind enough to offer a sourdough as a sub. Great! And also, I should mention that I am not fussed if a restaurant runs out of something. It just means their food is fresh and popular! Ok, so my brekkie was amazing. Lots of flavour in the cream cheese and pickled onions. Bread and salmon was super fresh and the watercress just tied everything off. Perfect! Could not fault it and would be just as amazing in bagel form. The coffee here is ace as well, great flavour and a strong brew! Good pick me up for the rest of my day. I saw on their menu they do burgers, so I think I will return for that. Absolutely love the staff and atmosphere here. Highly recommended!

Keeping it in the Greek family…read more This classic inner Adelaide suburban corner shop used to house George and his family serving up deli items when every suburb had a reliable deli for the last minute, need it right now milk, ice cream or bread before we had supermarkets open to 9.00pm (yes this is awhile ago). Back then Parkside was a bit dingy, a bit boho and very multicultural - Greek and Italian families predominated. Fast forward 25 years and Parkside has now been gentrified and and is a bit yuppiefied but blessedly Duthy St deli harks back to its deli origins and not just in name only. Vasili our host, has been smoothly operating a very successful cafe here for a number of years. Good service, well trained baristas, efficient chefing on view and a consistent, reliable extremely well presented selection of breakfast and lunch cold and hot items. Shrewdly but thankfully very competitively priced in a locale that could cough up more. Always good and always fresh -congratulations on maintaining the tradition in a slice of slightly out of the way suburbia. PS I do miss the Haigh's dark chocolate buttons though that used to accompany the coffee (I'd be prepared to pay a little more to have the chance to drop one in to create a gooey chocolaty melting moment on top of my latte/cappuccino froth). Ah - those were the days. Sigh!

Especially got a laugh from the visible work 'notice board' reminding wait staff to generally stop being idiots and stay off their phones during service piled amongst other threats. Does explain the faultless service on their part. Food is pricey but utterly amazing, the space is huge and the service is awesome so ruling with an iron fist must be working for them! Coffee was made by who I assume was the owner as he exuded the kind of confidence with a coffee machine only decades could foster. The eggs were perfect, my partners french toast and burger were beautiful and all up it was a great and riotous experience. Will be back!

I think looking back at previous reviews, they are getting better when it comes to service. I ordered the gnocchi with roasted seasonal veg. Lovely pan fried brussel sprouts, roasted pumpkin, spinach, and mushrooms. Best of all, the gnocchi was soooo sooo soft and buttery. Wow, it's been a long time since I have had gnocchi like this. Well done chef! So much flavour in this dish as well. What better to go with a veggie gnocchi than a carrot, orange, and ginger juice. It so so tasty and fresh. I look forward to my next visit Queen Street Cafe!

I don't personally want to have kids charging around in a cafe on the one hand, and in between tables and chairs on the side of a reasonably busy road on the other hand. I don't care how trendy it is and I certainly don't care how many young up and coming professionals are discussing the better stocks to buy since the global financial crisis at brunch; if they have children they should be watching them, especially if they insist on sitting outside next to a reasonably busy street. There is a level train crossing at one end of the block here and that means there are regular periods when several cars will be banked up and suddenly driving through. Half a dozen times I saw kids nearly get toppled by traffic while I was sitting here. I was most alarmed. There's such a great children's playground down the road, all fenced in and beautiful - up here in cafe la la land the adult were so engrossed in the food and conversation they just ignored a few kids who were evidently still in play mode. I have decided the place gets enough custom without me talking about the lovely furniture or the strictly word of mouth policy that the owners have - no business card, no brochure, no website... just word of mouth; well, the word of mouth at my mid morning soiree was "Watch out!" Seriously, I'd rather eat somewhere else and leave all the swank alone.

The café is amazing in its own right, but has an offshoot business Eire Pies - which according to their website was a challenge brought by a customer to Stephen to make more savoury pies for his menu. Eire pies are now sold at Foodland supermarkets , Tony and Marks at Gelnunga and Brickworks as well as in the café itself; and have amazing flavours such as braised lamb and rosemary, duck curry, beef and potato and vegan chickpea and lentil. On top of this achievement, Eiri café also produce a wide range of delicious biscuits, cakes and patries, and do an amazing brunch ( 7:30am - 2:30pm on weekedays and 8:30-2:30pm on weekends). I have popped in a few times on the way to work and was impressed; but this Saturday we stopped for breakfast/brunch on the way to running some errands. I had the pancakes with banana, maple syrup and mascarpone and I added bacon to it because bacon and maple syrup just belong together. My partner had cornbread with spicy tomato salsa, grilled haloumi, poached eggs and she also added bacon. My pancakes were light fluffy and delicious, but quite filling. The bacon was cooked well and the whole meal made me very happy, with big generous slices of banana and a pot of maple syrup on the side). My partner's corn bread meal though, was the stand out. I'm definitely getting that next time. I have never tried cornbread like Eire's before. It was light and fluffy and I think it was deep fried, but not oily. Perfect. I'll be back, for pies, for breakfast and for coffee. Cheers guys.

So, they are obviously doing a great job. The café has a good amount of space in it for a few groups of people. There is cute little collection of vintage items on tables and a pretty vertical garden inside. Eclectic in style. As for my brekkie, I had to order the corn fritters. I am so glad that I did, they were amazing! I have never had fritters like these before. They were deep fried, crispy and so super fluffy inside. They were topped with some tasty fried haloumi, greens and served with some fresh tangy salsa and cream. I was in the mood for some bacon as well, so I ordered that as an extra. I was so full afterwards though. I have to say, this is one of the best breakfasts I have had in a while. It really impressed me. Lot's of skill and love was put into this dish. I look forward to stop there again when I am in the neighbourhood.

My macca and my sister's latte were both pretty bitter. If you are a black coffee drinker, I guess it is fine. My macadamia nut pieces were kept getting stuck in my throat.
