I'm going to start this review by stating that I am *not* a gardener - I like looking at gardens,…read morebut I'm definitely not someone who likes getting my hands dirty ;) My partner, on the other hand, LOVES gardening, and has been a member of the Diggers Club for a few years. After a big night out in the city, I suggested that we swing past the Diggers shop in the Botanic Gardens, since we hadn't visited before. Unfortunately, parking was a bit difficult on Plane Tree Drive, but it was still quite nice to walk across the lawns to get to the shop. And what a shop! Although I don't like gardening, I am an artist, so appreciate the aesthetics of this establishment - all the pretty seeds lining one wall! My partner was in heaven - she loved the fact that they don't stock everything in the catalogue, but only the plants that need to be planted now. The seeds that should be sown now are labelled as such - it's all very practical. The staff are very friendly, and are knowledgeable - I assume they may have some sort of horticultural background. All in all, this is a place that even non-gardeners can appreciate!

The store in the Botanic Gardens is a bright, airy space, with beautiful glass overhead and is situated close to the cafe and overlooking the Mediteranean Garden. There's a wide selection of seedlings out the front and various tools as well. Inside is more supplies for the garden and a wall full of seeds, just about every seed you can imagine and then some more! The staff are very friendly and helpful, and there's a coin jar if you want a plastic bag. And if you want to take a look at the beautiful Museum of Botanical History, the door to that is adjacet to the Diggers shop. So you can look at history, then have a coffee, then buy some plants and stuff for the garden! Highly recommended for anyone who is interested in gardening, whatever your knowledge and skill level may be.

This is a high end garden shop supplying quality plants so you will pay a little more but the benefit is your plants are more likely to survive if they have a good start to life. Plants at The Conservatory are all very lush and the staff do everything from selling single plants, to giving advice on making your garden thrive, to designing complete gardens. With flowering plants, climbers, trees, shrubs and a selection of plants guaranteed to survive Adelaide's extreme weather, the guys at The Conservatory know there business and are happy to share their knowledge with customers. Even if you're not buying, just walking through this garden shop is quite an experience - it's like a mini botanic garden in the midst of suburbia. Inside you'll find The Conservatory is more like a house than a shop and the interior is set up with a range of giftwares and books set out in different rooms. Some of the items you can buy there, you just wouldn't expect to see in a garden shop. In addition to everything else, they can deliver your plants if they won't fit in the car, gift wrap your purchases and will always send you on your way with a smile on your face. If its too tricky to find a park on Unley Road (as is often the case) I find their off-street car parking in Irwin Lane very handy.

The inside is filled (not really suitable for kids, too much to touch and break) with homewares, furniture, decor, prints and lots of pillows. However wonderful this place is to look through, it is very expensive - which makes it exclusive to the higher income market. Everything is of the highest quality though, go and have a look through - if not to buy, just to get ideas!

Gardening can become expensive. I drove past this nursery for many years but I never stopped in. Actually, when you do drive past you do not appreciate how big this place actually is. It's deceiving from the front. This Nursery has such a large variety of plants and gardening materials available. You will find everything you need here. Wether it is a gardening pot, tools, soil, statues, etc... They actually mix and make their own brand of soil. I got a pack and it is great! One other thing that I love about this place is the Cactus green house! So awesome! There are not many nurseries with that much variety. Staff here are great and happy to help out with enquires. Be sure to let them know if you need advice with your garden. Only negative was the entry and exit point was a little confusing. Entry via carpark and exit at the counter inside, walk around on the street to enter back into the carpark. Meh... it's about the gardening and customer services for me!

Their items can be pricey, but the plant quality is exceptional compared to cheaper items from Bunnings or Masters. Every plant I have purchased here for my garden has thrived (with one or two exceptions where it was more a case of 'gardener error' on my part). Not only have my annual seedlings done well, many have self-seeded and continued to thrive for years past their expected life-span. For service and quality that is above and beyond, visit Heyne's, one of the longest-running nurseries in Australia.

And all items from the factory outlet carry a full warranty. The majority of the items here are either scratch and dent, demos or simply the previous model, not that there's anything wrong with that, check where the marks are on the item and if they're not going to be visible, then why not. With these particular items it just means the store cannot sell items which are not in peak cosmetic condition. As an example which is two years old but none the less, I done some research on which TV was going to be the best for us, good quality and had the features we wanted...so we settled on a Toshiba Regza 46". I can't remember the exact amounts paid but I can tell you the difference between buying it new from a department store and new from HV outlet was $1000, as it was the model just finished and HV was making room for the next in coming model that's the reason it was at their factory outlet. That's it...we saved $1000, got full warranty, wasn't a scratch n dent and it's still going strong, best investment. It also had alot to do with being in the right place at the right time, all the stars aligned and all that jazz. Hint: Do you research online, read blogs, get specs, etc and then look for where it is for viewing, how much it costs, take into account a small portion of what the sales people tell you as they get brownie points for sales, then add it all up in the end, because it's your money and your decision not theirs. Smart shoppers save. Note: 4 star rating for this HVFO store only!

You go in there and tell the guys what you need and they show you items that might be a bit less than perfect. The great thing is that quite often, there's the tiniest of dents or scratches which is stopping them from being sold in the normal shops. The way to shop here is to go to the regular HN stores, find something you want, look at where it is going in your house and know which surfaces are not important. For example, our fridge will be against a wall on its left side, so I could have bought one with a huge scratch on that side. I ended up getting a brand new Fisher and Paykel fridge and washing machine with a hefty discount. Also, they offer an extended warranty and delivery. The fridge has a tiny dent on the front which you can barely see and the washing machine has a scratch on the side, but as it's being built in, it won't be seen. They also have TV's, coffee machines, washing machines, cooktops and ovens, heaters, air conditioners and more. Definitely worth checking out. Also, all the items are tested to check that they still work fine.
