I was looking for a barbershop close to my home when I remembered this place which has been around for quite some time. My fiancee's brother went here before and really liked the experience. So I made a reservation for a Wednesday at 5:00pm. All the staff were super friendly and inviting. Ryan was my barber that day and he did a great job. He told me he's been cutting hair for seven years and sees it as an art form. I can definitely see that in his work. He also told me the shop has been open for 90 years and has always been family owned and operated. That says a lot about the place. The atmosphere is very laid back with lots of unique decor on the walls from music to movies and skateboarding. My cut was $30 and was absolutely worth it. This is officially my go-to barbershop and I'm asking for Ryan again because he did a great job. read more

The good news: at $35 it's inexpensive. The bad news: you get what you pay for. Refined men, go elsewhere. read more

Every barber in this shop rules !! Quality hair cuts !! They love the elderly clients and take good care of everyone ! I recommend this barber shop to anyone that needs a cut ! Best barber shop read more

I gave this place a fair chance 2x. My main issue is the way they treat their customers... An elderly man showed up around Christmas time with cookies for them, only to be flat out ignored and wasn't given the time of day. The owner literally hid in the back to avoid him. I also showed up 2 minutes before my appointment, only to be ignored by everyone and they were simply sitting around on their phones. 5 minutes past my appointment they finally greet me by asking who is cutting my hair, my barber is no where to be found. There were also simple mistakes made with my hair that no other barber has made before. read more

Incredible. I've paid three times for worse haircuts. Fantastic ethos and amazing service.

I will never let anyone else cut my hair again. Skip the chains and visit those guys.

Was searching for a barbershop while visiting... walked into one turned around and dipped... walked into the second looked around saw their prices and dipped.... Walked into Mariemont Barbershop saw 3 Wu-tang signs and a picture of Hank Williams... I had arrived. Tim was a cool guy got a solid sheering price was reasonable and definitely my Barbershop when I move back. FYI This Is A Barbershop the only differences between this one and the one my Grandfather used to take me to when I was a kid is this one doesn't allow smoking and they didn't have decades old playboys laying around read more

Quality men's haircut! Have looked around for over a year and finally found my place! You won't be disappointed......

I had an issue with my first hair cut. These guys went out of their way to refund me and fix it. I just found my new barber shop. Great team. read more

Throughout the years we have tried many salons for all of the men in our house. Our experience with Mariemont Barber Shop has been perfect every time. We highly recommend them. read more

Been coming to this barbershop since I moved to Cincy. I drive down from North of the city 35 minutes one way and will continue to do so. If you're looking for a barber shop that is the real deal, this is it. No commercial chain faux barber shop stuff here. Checkerboard floor, customers reading newspapers, everything from Sinatra, to BB King, to modern music playing in the background, hair being snipped and guys leaned back in their chairs getting straight razor shaves. It is a real step back in time, where things slow down a little bit. If you want to talk, there's conversation a plenty going on. If you just want to close your eyes, escape the rat race and have quiet time, that's on offer as well. It's your choice. Brian is my barber and he's a great guy. I've had my hair cut and face shaved by all of the guys there - Ron, Brian, Tim, and Eugene. Never once have I left dissatisfied. The prices are very fair for the type of service you receive. As others have said - you're going to want to book an appointment as they are slammed on most days. Kudos to Ron (owner) for keeping the traditional barber shop alive and creating an atmosphere that smacks of yesteryear when a man took pride in his work and was out to provide great service to his clients. read more

Very courtesy and thorough service. Quick to get me in for a haircut when my time frame was short and a small true barbershop feel that covers all the little details. read more

Been coming here for over 10 year's now and am always satisfied. On my wedding day 10 year's ago I wanted a old fashion shave and this is the place to go. I been coming back even since. I occasionally treat myself to a shave but Brian is my go to guy. He is great and friendly. They all are. One thing they are really busy so call ahead. And your hair will thank you. Enjoy. read more

Love this place. I take my 4 year old son here to get his haircut and it's the only place I've taken him to. Everyone is very friendly and it's a fun experience for my little guy. They have a candy machine that takes coins so bring some change if you want an extra happy barber shop trip for your little one. read more

I've been going to this Shoppe for probably well over10 years and love the area of the City where I was when a young boy while my Dad worked at the Searchlight Mirror Plant as a Corps of Army Engineers QC during the years from 1940 to 41 until he went R.A. in 1942. Ron has always been my Barber when I had long hair and full beard and mustache. He is a great Barber and friend after all of these years. He is fastidious and very professional in his cuts and uses a razor like men used to clean up the edges and stray hairs on the eyebrows, sideburns and hair line. I always feel the difference as his services end up giving me a boost in my appearance and self-image. I go once every so many months and always look forward to our conversations. He reminds me of two Barbers I had in Wisconsin years past! Guys like Ron are retiring and it is a real loss for older men to find someone that can always be relied upon. The days of tonsorial excellence are going by the boards and it gets harder over my lifetime to find someone who is dedicated to personal service like these artists delivered over my 78 years of getting haircuts. read more

Great, friendly service in an old school barber shop. Working out of town, so this is the first time having someone different cut my hair in probably 5 years. Tim did an excellent job, and I've already scheduled my next cut. read more

This is a great authentic barbershop. I have been getting my hair cut here for about 15 years. I usually get my hair cut by Ron Salzano (Owner and barber) but Brian and Eugene are great too. It definitely has the classic barbershop feel. It's a place where you can have a shave, a haircut, and an interesting conversation. The barbers are really friendly, and each has their own group of regulars. They take walk-ins if they aren't busy, but I recommend making an appointment either in the morning or a day in advance. All of their services are very reasonably priced, especially taking into account the experience of the barbers. I've never had a bad haircut here. read more

I went to this Barber shop yesterday and it was the perfect Barber Shop experience. I just moved to Oakley, but I lived near Cincy all my life. I really enjoy going to Barber shops for the personal hair cut and to find a staff with knowledge on how men like their hair cut THIS PLACED DELIVERED!!! Fromt he moment you walk in you are taken back to a slower time when getting your hair cut was more than a transaction, but can experience. I had the pleasure of working with Lucky, who took lots of time to get my hair just right (I have straight hair and not everyone can cut it properly). They don't hurry you out the door and offer solid conversation that is genuine and not forced. Bottom line: If you are looking for a great hair cutting experience this is where you want t go. $16 + tip is a great price to pay for a real deal cut, razor shave on the back of the neck and all. PLEASE NOTE: There is another shop nearby calling themselves "Mariemont Barber Shop." The REAL shop is located in the Best Western Motel and is only designated by a barber pole out front. Don't be confused by the impostor shop trying to take business away from this classic place. I attached a photo of the front to help you out.* read more

Can you become a fan of a place even if you did not get the service you intended to? Yes, if it is Mariemont barbers. Well, the fault was mine. For one thing, this place is super-busy. I tried to call and get an appointment for the same day, i could not. No way.I got an appointment for the next day. Next day something came up and i had to cancel. On the third try, i got the appointment and got to the place. The shop is inside the same building as the historical Mariemont Inn. Parking is behind the hotel. I wanted to get a haircut and a shave. But the barber informed me that he could not give me a shave within the allotted time.Because i did not specify anything, he had allocated 20-25 minutes for me, which did not give him ample time to give a professional shave. And there was another appointment just after mine. This was serious bummer for me.A professional "real" shave (not with a trimmer) is the most pampering experience a man can have i suppose, and that's what i really wanted. Anyways, the barber agreed to trim my beard to the shape i wanted.I agreed, grumbling. But in the next 25 minutes what happened was a miracle.Just when i was thinking "I will show these guys with a two-star review" my facial hair shaped into a marvelous shape. In fact my wife told me i looked much better than i looked in last 6 months. Ah hell, if these guys can do this well with a trimmer, i am sure the actual shave would be a heavenly experience. Going back i felt suave, like Robert Downey Jr in his Ironman movies.I am surely returning. read more

Finally! A real barbershop for men in Cincinnati. Professional people. Ron, Eugene, Tim any of those gentlemen are men of their craft. Great haircut every time. read more

If you've read any of my previous reviews then you already know that I consider Mariemont to be about as close as you can get to Thomas More's Utopia here in the Ohio Valley. I love the wine shop, the cupcakery, the movie theatre, and now I can adamantly add barber shop to the list as well. Maybe it's because I buzz cut my own hair until I was 16 or maybe it's because I frequented Great Clips for the last decade, but I am absolutely in love with this place. For starters, the ambiance and decor of this hole in the wall is a throwback to 1950s barber shops (that's partly because they've been in business since 1934). The three guys who work here are all different and funny and talented at what they do. And as for the haircut itself, prepare to be wowed. Each time I get my hair cut here it's been perfect. They take their time and pay attention to detail. I love how at the end they throw a little hot lather on the back of my neck and get all those hairs with a straight razor! And if that's not a good enough finale, prepare to have all the loose hairs that are straggling from your recent trim to be sucked off your head and neck vacuum style! It's as great as it sounds! And here's the best part - it's only $16! I can't imagine why any male in Cincinnati would ever go anywhere else. It's only $4 more than Great Clips and you don't have to listen to crappy music and have a forced conversation with an awkward mother of five. Adversely, it's nearly $20 cheaper than some nearby high end salons charge for a men's cut. I'm not the only person that realizes how money this barber shop is because they are practically fully booked every day. So make sure you make an appointment as opposed to just stopping in! Also, if you have time afterwards walk across the parking lot and treat yourself to a nice bottle of wine and a delectable cupcake at Dilly Cafe and The Sweeterie! read more

Found this gem on yelp based on its high reviews. It is hands down the best barber shop in Cincinnati. I drive 20-30 min out of my way on my way home from work to go here. The guys are great. 16$ for a perfect cut. HINT: First timers have a hard time finding this place due to lack of a sign. Once you park in the parking lot, put your back towards the school and walk to the street on your left (I belive there are condos there). It has the cylindrical spinning barber thing outside and that is it. All my friends go here consistently after their first visit. read more

By far the only barber shop I can trust exclusively with my beard. I drive 30 minutes one way simply because I know, without a doubt, that'll end up being prefect. I've gone to other places, but I've been told "it's not as good as the time before" and those 'times before' have been coming here. It's old school and that's what you need if you want to feel and look great. read more

I've been going to Mariemont Barber Shop for 17 years. Originally, I lived close (Kenwood); now I make a 45 minute trip from Liberty Township. Well worth it. Haircuts are by appointment, they run on time, no waiting. Ron Salzano, the owner, is consistent, professional, courteous, always ready to share a spirited perspective on life with his Italy-born flair. The other barbers, Brian and Eugene, are friendly and ready to join in on virtually any topic. Nestled in the heart of Mariemont, the location adds a bit of old world European flair. Fair prices, top class service in every respect. read more

Great barbershop, I have been going here for 3 years after moving into the area. They get pretty booked on the weekends so call ahead if you want to get in. The straight edge razor is amazing, and they are well priced. read more

Solid salon-alternative for guys who want a great $16 haircut without all the frills. If you're not familiar with the area, this spot in located on the rear of the Best Western Hotel in the center of Mariemont village. They have free parking in the back and theres lots of street parking. There is no sign - only the barber pole. Definitely make an appointment. Even during the week these guys are very busy and walk-ins can be hard to come by, Eugene cut my hair. He's one of the younger guys on their team and gave me a straighforward, modern cut. He was very detail oriented, snipping and trimming for nearly a half hour. The grand finale was the hot lather neck shave which is a must in any proper barbershop. He even showed me how to properly apply product and comb my hair to get the right look. My one and only gripe about this place is that it was not particularly clean or neat. The counters had clutter all over them, the floor needs a good sweeping, and there were dusty boxes stacked in the corner. What i'm coming to realize is that lots of female salon stylists simply do not know how to properly cut men's hair - no matter how much they charge. If you're currently doing like $30-50 Hyde Park/Kenwood salon thing, give this a shot. read more

Do not recommend any man to go here for a cut. The barber had no idea how to blend the hair. Left worse than when I came in.

The guys here are awesome! I have been somewhat of a frequent visitor but they are always on time, able to get me in last minute and are all very friendly. Tim typically takes care of me and the hot shaves are phenomenal! Can't say enough about the Barber shop. read more

Great barbershop. Classic and consistent cuts from every one of the guys who's there. Always good talks and waxing cuts. Great prices as well. Will be coming to these guys for a long time. read more

Asked for a trim on top (could previously pull my hair down to my eyes), left with a buzz, essentially. Barber never used scissors on the top. Also, hair was left long around my ears. Came here because the Yelp reviews were good. I was extremely disappointed. The other barbers looked like they were doing well, but my guy was not experienced. Got the worst feeling in the world while getting your haircut. "This guy doesn't know what he's doing". It was the red-headed guy, don't know his name. read more

I just moved to Cincinnati and needed to get my first local haircut. I'm glad that I checked out Yelp and found myself in Mariemont Barber Shop. I got a great haircut from Ron and the rest of the guys were friendly. The shop is small, but has all of that classic barbershop character. Be sure you call and make an appointment - their website recommends it as well. They were pretty steady and everybody that came in while I was there had an appointment. Also, as somebody else pointed out, the shop might be a little hard to spot. There's no outside signage - only the barber pole on the building wall, outside of their door. The door to the shop is on the Madisonville, Rd. side of the building and is just to the left of the entrance for Mariemont Hair Salon. read more

There is a reason the place has been there a very long time and is always packed! I started going and got the rookie, lol. Tim my first time and he is great. Word has it they all are and that is the opinion of so many. You cannot find a more welcoming place and better cast of cutters and that also includes personalities. Place is great. read more

Nothing makes a man feel like a man than a manly haircut, finished off with a power tool. The guys are great, and the ending is fantastic, never seen a place just suck the loose hairs right off of you, and it's like getting a scalp massage. It's awesome! read more

I was introduced to Mariemont Barber Shop by a friend who insisted that this was the only way to get a shave and a hair cut. If you have the time and facial hair, I would definitely recommend the traditional shave. It's kind of the male equivalent to going to the spa. Most of the time, I just get my hair cut and Brian has done a great job every time. Everyone there is friendly and makes for a nice barbershop experience. They take appointments so if you plan ahead you can get in when you want. read more

The three barbers who run this joint are all great. I've been coming here ever since I moved to Cincinnati about two years ago now, and I get my hair cut about once every four months. It's a small, cozy place and the small talk is always enjoyable and is never forced (think Sports Clips or other chains). As others have mentioned, make sure you get an appointment. They usually have openings from two or three days out. When you get there, simply look for the barber pole out front -- there's no other marking. I haven't gotten a cut and a shave yet, but it's on my to-do list. I live in West Chester now, and after trying a few local barbers I happily make the drive out to Mariemont to the best barbers in the tri-state. read more

This place is truly something special. I've been coming here for the better part of 6 months and have yet to have a less than fantastic experience. My first time Eugene gave me a shave and a hair cut. This was my first time having somebody give me a shave and it was great. My face was smooth and felt fantastic. He gave me one of the best hair cuts I've ever had. I keep going back because they are super polite, accommodating, and skilled barbers. Eugene is great to talk to on those days you want to talk, or quiet the days you don't. If you go here you'll notice countless regulars coming through, multi generational regulars, and that says something. Do yourself a favor, come here and get a proper grown up haircut. Make an appointment as they are busy. I hope this place never closes it's doors as I will continue to go as long as I have hair. And when I am finally bald (coming sooner every day) I'll go back for the shave because I love the atmosphere and skills of the staff. read more

I called ahead and went in for a beard trim and shave. After finding the place, I found it to be a traditional barber shop. Brian listened to how I wanted my beard trimmed and asked me if I had a goal in mind. I told him that I'm going for the long "Viking" type beard. He laughed and said he can get me going in the right direction. He shaped my beard and gave me a fantastic shave around the edges. The service is top notch, and the conversation was entertaining. My wife says my beard has never looked so good. Hopefully she'll let me keep it growing. I'm e finitely coming back. read more
