Came here for a quick cut as my normal person was out on leave. I walked in on a weekday morning and plopped right into a seat. The guys doing cuts were all lively and fun and a good time to be around. They did a reasonably nice job on my cut. Not exactly how I was hoping, but as good as I could hope for walking in and getting my first cut. I also asked for a quick beard trim which they obliged. All in all, if you need a spot to get a quick cut for a reasonable price, this is a great place to go. read more

I've been going to Gil's for the past three years and always leave satisfied. Rodger is my barber there & he does a great job.

These guys are fantastic! On a cross country round trip personal appearance tour and after 22 days on the road I stopped in fir a tune up on my L.A. Fade! Roger did not disappoint! Dennis ( Gils Son ) is keeping the business running just like his pops! It's obvious these guys are an important part of the community and they are outstanding with the scissors and clippers! I highly recommend!!! read more

Gil's Barber Shop - Gils Barber Shop Cincinnati Ohio! - Barbers Near Me - Cincinnati, Ohio

Friendly guys. Came in with my husband and son for my husband's usual haircut. They do men's cuts for $18 and children for $16. There's plenty of charm in the shop if you're sitting and waiting. Good amount of Pleasant Ridge history too if you're inclined to strike up a conversation with the 4 barbers. Parking is to the side of the of the shop and there is also an outdoor bench if you want to wait outside or just enjoy the sunshine. My husband's haircut was exactly what he wanted (and wife approved!). read more

It has been about 7 months since I had a haircut or shaved. I put on a baseball cap the other day and when I saw myself in a mirror I thought Forrest Gump was staring back at me. I am 73, so I am a bit cautious about doing anything that would put me into a position to catch COVID-19. I called GIL'S to see if there were procedures in place that I would feel comfortable with. There was a comforting message that explained the program. The whole experience of getting a haircut at GIL'S was perfect. I couldn't imagine it being any better! Mike C. read more

Definitely recommend this shop. I've been here twice now, and both times I got a great haircut. I am definitely a "barber-shop guy," in comparison to the strip mall meat-market salons that are the trend these days. Both times that I've gone I was able to get in immediately, but to be fair I did go on my day off during the week in the early afternoon. I'm told that they are quite crowded on the weekends. They have four barbers and it seems to be all walk-in traffic. I think if you had a preference, you could probably hold off on your place in line and wait. I've had haircuts from both David and Rodger, and both were very friendly and talkative. David even remembered me from the last time I visited after only having gone there once before. Parking is a little limited and awkward when lots of people are down there. I drive about 45 minutes each way to go there, but it's worth it. read more

You can't go wrong with any of the barbers at Gil's Barber Shop. Great cut at a great price with friendly service.

I've been going to Gils Barbershop for years. One day my regular Barbershop was closed, so I tried Gils. I've never looked back! They have several barbers( all good) but I usually wait for David. He takes his time, and does a great job. That works for me! read more

We went to Gil's barbershop the first time and received a wonderful haircut. However the second time we went we received no communication a barber who smelled unpleasant and a haircut that turned out to be not what we wanted at all. In fact it was the opposite of what we asked for. I would not recommend "letting them do what they think is best" read more

Gil's is an old-school barbershop that offers classic cuts and won't break the bank (standard cut is $18). The location is clean and well-decorated, the barbers were friendly and engaging, and even though they don't take appointments, I've never waited more than 5 minutes. Minus a star for being cash-only, but add that sucker right back in for the eyebrow trim and hot shaving cream/straight razor neckline cleanup! Gil's has earned a loyal customer in me. I will be coming back! read more

Excellent barber shop. A man's place. Experienced barbers! Love a place that gives hot lather neck shaves. read more

Overall experience with Dennis today wasn't enjoyable and neither was the haircut even with good communication of what I wanted! On top of that the smell coming off him was horrible. Definitely wouldn't let him cut my hair again. Worst haircut I ever have got genuinely read more

Best damn Barber Shop in the City. All the guys are great - Denis (Gil's son), David, and George are great barbers. They also have a weekend female cosmetologist on hand for the full family experience. They also celebrate little boys' first haircuts as a big deal. Old school and a great community icon. Just say no to Greatclips. read more

I literally received the worst haircut of my life here. I asked for a 4 on the side and an inch off the top. My hair was over an inch longer on top than it was on the sides, yet the guy cutting my hair moved my line up on top of my head and shaved part of it. He didn't touch anywhere near my side burns, and when I asked, he cut my sideburns unevenly. Do not go here if you want to look normal after a haircut read more

There is nothing like an old-school barbershop. Gil's is the quintessential place for men and boys to get a good cut at a fair price. The atmosphere is perfect including the mounted barracuda over the front door. It's like walking into a time machine and landing in the 1950s or early 60s. The barbers are friendly and conversational. My son and I needed haircuts before a wedding tomorrow because we ran out of time back home. We arrived early on a Friday morning and there was no wait. Two chairs were open when we walked in the door. I have no complaints, no critiques, no criticisms. If you want a haircut and your neck shaved---as well as a goatee or beard trim---Gil's is the place for you! read more

This is the place to go for a hair cut. My father went there, I still go there from south Carolina and my son had his first hair cut there. Gil ask him how he wanted his hair cut and he said blonde. read more

If you're a man with hair that needs to be cut you need to stop going to great clips where Ronda is going to tell you about her recent divorce as she carelessly clips your wig with her nicotene-stained fingers and instead go to Gil's. Neighborhood feel and prices are reasonable. read more

For a quick good hair cut for a guy this is the place. I was in and out in about 15 mins. It is an old fashion barber shop with all the charm and feel. I got what i wanted at a good price. SO if you need a cut stop by here. read more

Fast, friendly and convenient. Well earned best Barber Shop in the city. Can't go wrong with this place.

Stopped by Gil's while driving through Cincinnati to Louisville for a wedding. Found out about the shop on Yelp. Great classic neighborhood barbershop. Great haircut, quick reasonable and recommended! read more

I moved to Pleasant Ridge in December, and finally made it into this place this morning. What a gem to have a classic barbershop right in the hear of PR. George did a fantastic job and this will definitely will be my go to place. read more

I've been going to this place since I was a little kid. I'm 24 now and have never left disappointed! Each barber is friendly and professional and great at their craft. There's no place I'd rather go. read more

Solid, solid, SOLID haircut. These men are masters of their craft. The hot shave is probably one of the best things about this place, you can't get hot shaves at many places these days. No wait, actually I think the best thing about them is their vacuum system for sucking cut hairs out of your head. Seriously, the most annoying thing about getting a haircut is having to shower afterward or pay for a shampooing so I don't have to deal with the itchy hairs falling out all day. Their use of a vacuum to get rid of the loose and cut hairs is way better than the typical brush or paper towel treatment. I recommend this place to all men, 5/5. read more

Great haircut at a fair price! I was seated immediately upon entry with 3 barbers on duty. George did a nice job and I liked the razor blade clean up on my neckline. The beard trim is worth the extra $6 or so if you're currently sporting one. read more

Quick, friendly service. Waited about 10 minutes on a very busy Saturday. Dave did an amazing job, as I was skeptical going to a barber instead of a hair salon. This is the way to go! read more

David is amazing!! You feel like you are walking into a shop which knows exactly what they are doing! Very professional and conversational.. I always enjoy going here as I can talk about anything that I want with David and he knows what I am talking about.. haha.. read more

Gil's is quite the rarity. The best value and best service at the same place. This is how your Grandpappy got his haircut, this is how you should too. I walked in weekday at 5, had a short wait, but well worth it. These guys are top notch all the way. The Gornik & Drucker of Cincy! read more

Clean shop with good magazines, four good barbers, off-street parking, no fuss and no frills.

Friendly barbers who were very welcoming for a first time client there. Good conversation during the haircut and beard trim. Prices were very reasonable - $20 to cut my hair and shave off my beard. I did not have to wait at all to get my haircut, and that was on a Friday around 11:15 am. read more

Hours on Saturday are until 3:00 p.m. rather than 6:00 p.m. Gil's is closed on Sunday and Monday.

This place is the best!! I got my first real barber shop experience here when I was 6 years old way back in 1986. I was in town recently and stopped back in for a cut. So glad to see they are still in business and still providing great service. I highly recommend Gil's!! read more
