I'm very disappointed I didn't get to experience this restaurant. My wife and I are staying at the Autograph hotel and I asked the concierge to recommend a place for good paella. They highly recommended Maricel. We arrived at 7:15 and the waitress said the restaurant opens at 8pm. To kill time, we walked to the beach and had a glass of wine. We returned to the restaurant at 7:55 and waited for 8 o'clock. We were the first guest there. Fifteen minutes go by and I look around and I see four to five guest who had water and drinks. No one engaged us nor were we offered water like the other guests. We were IGNORED! This is very unfortunate and our experience there made us feel like second class citizens. Crazy meal! I originally ordered the cod with vegetables, but I added a starter of vegetables, and I am so glad I did - it was the star of my meal. Overall, if I had only ordered the vegetables, wine, and coffee, I could have rated Maricel five stars. I made the mistake of ordering an entree, the cod. The code came, and unlike the vegetable plate, it came without much visual appeal. The shin is up in a bowl of yellow sauce, sitting on an almost tasteless slice of squash with two tasteless mushroom-like garnishes. The entire entrée lacked flavor, spice, or any hint of herbs to enhance the taste of the fish. Sadly, the meal was light on taste and heavy on texture. If they lacked the necessary ingredients to make the dish, I wish they had asked me to order something else. It will be some time before I can order another fish dish; they have ruined my taste for white fish to the extent that I had to change my order on the plane from Sea bass to pot roast to ensure I could finish my meal. I also cancelled my last recommended restaurant; I couldn't take the risk of a repeat of the meal I had at this highly recommended establishment. It is a shame; fish is one of my favorite orders. Wanted to try the Maricel menu, hoping it had changed since we last had it, but it was the same. That's not a bad thing, everything was delicious. It does make me think they may not change it up. The thought I had read there would be a different menu in January but I should have asked about it for next time. In my opinion, a sign of a good tasting menu is when you are left wanting more and this meal did not disappoint. Started with a little mushroom soup, then the shrimp carpaccio with some fried garlic, which was amazing!!! Next, a Covina (?) tartar in a garlic cream, and I savored every bite!! The octopus in a green cream based sauce was also delicious. Followed by a single lobster ravioli with lobster bisque that was to die for!! Then we had some pork with a date and maybe a little spinach, a little bit with every bite was fabulous!! We got to try two desserts, two of us were given a fruit and cream in a martini glass and the other two a peanut butter (?) cream thing. Both were amazing and we split them. This place was recommended by our hotel concierge. Right on the boardwalk. But was not somewhere I would ever want to go again. Food was meh. Not terrible but not great. Prices were higher than would be expected. Oh, they charged €4 per bottle of water BUT the water was bottled in their kitchen (they said they have nice filter and so the charge is justified...hmmm). Beautiful restaurant with food to match! We dined on the lovely terrace, but the interior with the grand staircase was really breathtaking. The meal began with refreshing mango gazpacho shooters. The Buffalo mozzarella junket was so memorable. Usually tomatoes are paired with firm mozzarella, but the soft creamy mozzarella they used was a solid match. It was like the interior of of burrata- very spreadable. The lobster raviolo met our expectations. Cooked perfectly al dente, with large chunks of lobster filling and a very rich lobster sauce. We probably didn't need to order the juicy rice with lobster on top of this, as it was very similar in flavor but the least favorite of our meal. The pistachio and raspberry duet dessert was spectacular in both flavor and presentation. Fresh raspberries were a nice contrast to the pistachio cream that topped a cookie like ring. My favorite bite was the crisp tuille cookie. read more

You are definitely paying $$$$ for this fine dining restaurant. They tack on the amuse-bouche as a separate charge (without telling us). This was the first fine dining restaurant that I have been to where it was an extra fee. The food and service were decent but probably not worth the high cost. An example would be their seafood paella. I definitely had better paella in Barcelona at a fraction of the cost. read more

When walking along the waterfront in Stiges, the restaurants start to look a little similar. When you come upon Restaurante Maricel,you'll notice that it's just a little nicer looking than its neighbors with a warm, inviting patio. We only tried a few dishes here, so I can only give you a glimpse. The service was friendly and, when needed or not, English-speaking as a manager or owner would wanter over to chat with us in English and make sure our server was bringing us everything we needed. The wine list is very approachable and there are several nice options in the 20-30 Euro range. We had a nice Spanish Sauvignon Blanc and found it light and perfect for the climate and the food. Our food was a mixed bag. It ranged from just so-so to excellent. The complimentary gazbacho, with strong tones of strawberry and watermelon was a refreshing start. The entrees were mixed. The "Fish and Shellfish Stew Bouliabaise turned out to be about six bite-sized pieces of fish in a very watery broth. It had a nice flavor, but really came across as more of a starter that was completely mislabeled.The "shellfish" turned out to be one lonely razor clam. The rest of our party got the lobster ravioli, which, only slightly more expensive, came with a luscious sauce made from the brilliant red-orange goo found inside a lobster's head as well as some spices and butter. It came not only with the ravioli, but with a half lobster tail as well. So, our dinners ranged from one-star to four-star. For three people, we ended up about $130 Euro. While we haven't found Stiges to be inexpensive, we thought this was a little steep for the meal we had. If you want a great lobster dish, some nice wine, and very competent service, then I would recommend this place if you aren't counting your Euros. Otherwise, you might want to focus on the wonderful paellas and tapas that surround you that consistently deliver and solid, interesting meal for less than you'd expect to pay. read more

I love this place. I ate at Maricel twice this week for dinner and probably more than 20 plus times in the last few years. The food is excellent and the service is excellent too. They do a good job at changing the menu. The restaurant is a bit more upscale than most places in Sitges and is very much worth trying. The staff are extremely friendly and the food is always excellent. Try their Sangria as an aperitif, it is delicious! My favorite dish is the 'dorade' dish. So good. Don't hesitate to ask for a French menu or an English translation if your Spanish is not up to speed. read more

I've been to a lot of high end restaurant in my time. But without a doubt this was the best. Many restaurants have good dishes and many mediocre dishes. Everything that came out of the kitchen was perfect. The best. Service was impeccable, by what would appear to be the perfect mother figure. I think we were charged for a few of the sides we didn't ask for. But that doesn't mean the food wasn't 5 stars. I rate restaurants on there food and atmosphere and this food was amazing, impeccable. I love paella. But I don't go to a high end restaurant to eat one. read more

In Sitges for a week. Our first night out was exquisite. Kamal, manager or head waiter, helped us to understand the menu and the Catalan. All of his suggestions were excellent. Listen to him, he knows this menu. Five of us dined outside and it was beautiful and cozy. Food is higher end, delicious and presented beautifully. Chef came out to greet us, which made us feel nice and we were able to compliment him in person. Come with your wallet full of Euros and dress up a little and have a great meal and dining experience like we did. read more

Too bad to ruin such a nice place reputation to squeeze an extra 10 Euros from a family of tourists.
