Came here after trying three other nail shops for a mani pedi for me and my friend. By the time we got here I just was about to give up. So I called from my car out front,and they could take us both right than and there. I parked and we went in and were shown these beautiful chairs for our pedicures. They do spend a lot of attention to you. Now for me it was a vacation day and I hadn't seen my friend in ages so we were due for a nice treat. My friend is a selfless woman and always does for others so I was glad to see her happy. The gentleman that was doing her pedicure really spent a lot of time that was needed on her lower legs massaged,exfoliated and applied hot towels. She was very happy and kept telling him that she wanted him to come home with her. He worked on her toenails cutting and buffing. Also he chose a beautiful shade of pink polish for her toes. At the same time another person did her nails. As for me even though I go fairly regularly at home, however their was plenty of dead skin removed from the bottom of my feet. I picked a great neutral for the toes and a sparkly ivory for my hands. So the drumroll please the cost was literally twice the price I pay at home. But I look at it this way,it was available,they use the best quality products and the service was top notch. Best of all my dear friend was happy which is priceless! read more

Went in for a women's haircut which is advertised as $49 on the website. When I booked a slot online it said $39. At the end of my haircut I was asked to pay $144. They said it was because my hair was long and there was an upcharge for shampoo and hair dry. My hair is hardly past my shoulders. The appointment took 20-30 minutes in all. I asked for a ~1 inch trim with long layers. I ended up with hair 2-3 inches shorter, no layers, and it is uneven from one side to the other. The prices are falsely advertised and I was never informed about up charges, and the staff basically shrugged when I showed them the price on my appointment booking screen. Shampoo, wash, and dry costs significantly less than this at salons that are far nicer and will give you an even haircut. Save your money and hair and get a haircut elsewhere. read more

Do not waist a second going here. I came here for a gel polish change, tell me how they rushed, did not do what I asked for, I had to confront them about trimming and filing my nails and then they charged me $80. I asked the manager to show me a price for a polish change and she showed me it and I said I did not get a mani pedi and your book says that's the price for a mani pedi and she said well that's also the price for a gel polish change. read more

My wife called Maricel salon & spa to check opening and the price for a service. She as been told that they got time to take care of her as a walk-in now and it'll be a total of $25.00 My wife was satisfied with the service there(here come the but)....BUT was amazed how the total came to $75.00...twenty and seventy aren't sound the same and they insisted that this is the price that have been told on the phone. Complete and total rip-off. Ask for a quote and make them stick to it. I was charged $185 for basic haircolor (no highlights) and a haircut. She barely even cut my hair -- it literally took her one minute and my hair is exactly the same as though I never had it cut at all. My elderly, legally blind mother came here for makeup purchase and instruction. They charged her $400 for a crappy makeover with CoverGirl. (For those of you who don't know, CoverGirl is a cheap brand favored by teenagers and women who don't know any better.) This included $100 tip. Again, my mother is legally blind and the staff knew this and had her sign a receipt that was much higher than she was aware of. Later in the day, I marched into the salon, and demanded a full refund. An hour after that, the beautician charged my mom's card for another hundred dollars. Absolutely the best professional salon in KW! A hidden gem! My husband and I go to Maricel's every 3-4 weeks for pedicures, wax, and he gets his hair cut. The moment you walk in the door your greeted with friendly beautiful smiles. We're locals so we never make appointments but they always fit us in. Maricel has a great deal of knowledge when it comes to hair care. I could pass out during the pedicure from the wonderful foot massage. We tried multiple salons for hair and spa treatments before coming here and it is the best! They take pride in giving you the best experience and you cannot beat the prices. :-) read more

This an extremely clean and pretty salon where you don't have to worry about what is going to go scuttling across the floor while trying to relax like many other nearby nail salons. This spa is located in the Winn-Dixie shopping center. I was a walk-in on a Saturday, and they had several scheduled hair appointments. I was cheerfully welcomed and I had a great manicure today with Mary Ann. I have tried 3 places in Key West & this is the best by far. They do the longer (hour) manicure, so your nails dry properly between coats. I will return! Just want to say the white travertine floor is SO clean I thought they had just opened. Do NOT get a massage here. I wouldn't call myself a massage snob--I've had anywhere from a student to a well established high end spa. Last week I called and set up an appointment for a full body massage--I had a gift certificate I needed to use (wouldn't have been my 1st choice but not going to complain a gift is a gift). They were able to get me in within hours...which was really nice. Massage started out as expected. Though sometimes--you either talk with your masseuse or fill out a few questions letting them know about yourself and how you want your massage to go, pressure, where you hold your stress etc. That didn't happen. After probably 15 minutes into my massage, she moves from my back to legs but doesn't cover my back up. She goes back and forth from the backs of my legs to my back all the while never covering up either! If there isn't a headed blanket, after 4+ coats of oil and lotion, it gets chilly! This proceeds for the entire hour. I lost count how many times she went back and forth and how many different ointments were on my skin. I never switched from my stomach to back, she never touched my feet, hands, head or anything other than my back and the backs of my legs. At one point she put FREEZING cold rocks on my back with no warning to the point of tensing up thinking what the hell is going on?! When she finally said Ok Miss ______ ....I promptly turned around and said "That's it?" I explained that I wasn't sure what I just got; I never turned over, I asked for a FULL BODY massage. She goes and talks to a colleague who comes in and says "I hear you have a question?" I continue to explain, all the while still laying on my stomach naked on the table. 5 min later the masseuse comes back in and says "excuse my English is not very good." I roll over to my back and the same process of not covering me up, going from my chest to arms to legs, not "tucking" the blanket in between my legs when doing each one (awkward). This continues for another hour! What was supposed to be a stress reliever turned out to be anything but. They didn't charge me for the extra hour, which I appreciate. I do not think this (heavy breathing) woman had ANY idea what she was doing. I doubt she had credentials, she obviously doesn't know the difference between each massage or even what her job description is. Had I spoken up every time I thought something wasn't going the way I expected it to I would have been talking the entire time. Needless to say I wasted 2 hours of my morning and walked out feeling more stressed than when I walked in. I really hope management spoke to her about the obvious miscommunication. I was visiting Key West and as this salon was just opening and looked nice, I thought I would give it a try. I gave the colourist the formula and the colour came out completely different then what it would normally in my regular salon. The one person in the salon that spoke English, gave me a hard sell on some product line that they were pushing and promised me samples but then lost interest and never gave me any samples. The person washing my hair actually put water in a near-empty bottle of shampoo to clean it out and then used it on my hair. The service was terrible. I would never go back there. read more

Went in to get a haircut only because my regular stylist at Hot Cuts was booked. I asked and was told ahead of time the price would be $30. What they did NOT tell me was the Shampoo and blow dry were extra! Went to pay and was rang up for $85! When I asked for what?! Maricel said shampoo, blow dry and style were extra. By style, I mean, another girl came over and ran a flat iron through my hair which I did not even ask for! Not ONCE was I told the shampoo, blow dry OR "Style" were extra and not included. I complained that they didn't tell me ANY of the services I was getting were EXTRA and not included in the haircut that I asked for. When you go to a regular place to get a regular haircut, it's safe to say shampoo and blow dry are included. All I asked for was a haircut. She gave me a $10 discount because I was pissed. I should have refused to pay all together and let them call the police so I can expose them for the con artists they are. My $30 haircut turned into a $75 haircut which would have been $25 if I just went to Hot Cuts like I usually do. Oh, and I didn't even get the cut I wanted because they speak no English and didn't understand what I was trying to explain to them. On top of all that, they tried to sell me $175 worth of shampoo and conditioner. If I could give ZERO stars I would. Never going back there again. read more
