Best burrito ever! Not only is the service friendly but the burrito I had is on my top 10 burritos to order again. Now normally i only like cooked onion but because of all the flavors i couldn't even taste the onion. the only thing i asked to be left out was lettuce, i've got this thing of cold vegetables on hot food. But this burrito was incredible. it had a little of everything and on top was a red sauce, a cheese sauce and a tomatillo sauce l.it was so good. i highly recommend this restaurant read more

It was practically empty! Which should have been my first indicator!!!!! It was my first time but maybe the last. Okay so I ordered the fajitas. They tasted good but messed my stomach up for sure. And it was odd given it was steak ones and never had my stomach upset like that. The queso dip tasted like they mixed it straight from powder. It didn't taste like queso. The service was non existent. Several employees were standing at the bar area when we walked in they turned and looked and resumed their conversation. We finally seated ourselves after a few minutes and a server did fling some menus and silverware on the table without greeting us or even saying a word. We decided that if that how the initial service was we weren't going to stick around and see how bad it got from there. A man from Mexico marries an terrific lady from this area. They move here, and we get awesome food. Everyone in the area knows about Maria's and won't eat Mexican food anywhere else!!! The gentleman who opened this awesome restaurant, is actually from Mexico. He learned to cook from his mother and grandmother. HE PAID ATTENTION!!! We have never had a bad meal here and seriously doubt it will ever happen. The owners made sure the staff learned the proper way to prepare and cook each item on the menu. Me and my mom were visiting from out of town and after having a not so pleasant experience at another restaurant in McKenzie we left and decided to try Maria's. We were immediately greeted. Our server was attentive and anticipated our every need without having to be asked. Our food came out steaming hot and fresh. I got the camerones loco (shrimp, chorizo, cheese). It was so delicious. The rice and beans reminded me of the food I ate when I visited Mexico. My mom enjoyed her meal as well. The price was shockingly low for the quality food and proportions provided. I had the special with my father in law, it was a potato sliced in half, the inside was mashed, covered with fajitas meat of your choice, smothered in cheese and accented with bacon. Served with salad and sour cream. I am going to try and make this at home. This was one of the best meals I've had. The portion was large too. I love the originality of the chef who came to our table and said hello. The salsa was clearly made with fresh ingredients unlike most places I've been. And the guacamole Mexicano was the best I have EVER had. Not just being nice. I am from Chicago and travel. Great food in a small town. I'm a big queso fan and I really liked theirs. Pollo Jalisco (chicken covered w queso and salsa) was very good and their beans were somehow better than other places. Mixing up the rice and beans with the cut up chicken was really delicious though I couldn't finish it all. Hubby got steak and shrimp fajitas he enjoyed. My daughter's kids quesadilla (really just half a quesadilla) was good though cheese wasn't fully melted. Our server was very attentive and friendly. The absolute worst . Steak was tough and the food was bland. Maria's In Milan is great. Well worth the drive to Milan.

Glitz and glamor? No. Linen table cloths and suited waiters? No. Waiting in line? Pretentious? Overpriced? No, no and no. What you see is what you get. Maria's is a simple, down to earth Mexican themed restaurant with DAMNED GOOD FOOD. Really. They have all of the Mexican favorites, but you really should just "trust your gut" and try something different from their extensive menu each time you go in. Taco Salad, Enchiladas, and tacos are good, but venture off into untraveled territories with the wonderful Victor Burger and fries, or the Reuben Special with Steak fajitas or chicken... they don't even mind if you make suggestions, for example, get that wonderful Victor Burger and substitute fajita veggies for its normal (NORMAL? Nothing this should be called normal!) veggie toppings and you find a new and personal adventure each time you come to taste and try. Don't be surprised if the chef visits your table with a smile and is genuinely interested in how you like your food. He'll tell you it's all FRESH, but you can tell that by the tastes and smells that keep bringing you back! Truly, it's the one place in town you can consistently get authentic Mexican fare FRESHLY cooked, and served by a wait staff that seem more like friends and neighbors than "just servers." This is probably the best Mexican restaurant I've ever been to, and I can't believe it's in our little town of McKenzie, TN. The food is amazing, the service is outstanding, and the prices are unbeatable. It's a great family restaurant and I know they'll have something on their menu that everyone will love. The only bad thing I have to say about it is the parking. It usually stays packed and it can be really hard to find a parking spot, but other than that it's A+ in every other way. We go eat at Maria's very often. It is by far the best and most authentic Mexican food in all of West Tennessee. It's not flashy in appearance, but the service is great and the food is even better. They have Shocktop and other beers on tap. I have never had any Mexican food better than the tacos al pastor at Maria's. (I am not an expert, but I have eaten Mexican food from coast to coast.)I would rather eat my food off the floor at Maria's than eat at another Mexican restaurant in McKenzie. read more

The best place to eat in McKenzie. I should know, I eat here at least once a week. They have an excellent selection that covers a wide variety of Mexican dishes. I can hardly get past the steak and bacon tacos and Rueben special because they are so good. The place is so popular that it can get busy fast so make sure to check ahead and sometimes it is best to eat at off times to avoid the crowd.
