Maria's a nice lady, and gave a fair price for 6 items, as I had called around to 3 other tailor/altering businesses in the Beaverton/Tigard/Lake Oswego areas. Turns out, she's only 5 minutes from me, so the most convenient location too!! The results looked very professional and I didn't even have to try it on when I picked up my items a week later. They were ready and on time. read more

We recently had Maria do a hem on my daughter's prom dress. It was an interesting shape at the bottom of the gown, and Maria did an amazing job making it the perfect length while keeping the same flow and aesthetic. The dress looked amazing and was ready on time. Perfect! read more

I've had many things altered here, mostly bridesmaid dresses, and I am happy every time! The price is decent and timing is great. I recommend trying your garment on when you're there so she can measure properly. read more

I asked for one thing, and she did what she wanted to do instead. I had to take my pants to another place and pay again.

I am so glad I found Maria's! I dropped off this two layered silky bridesmaid dress and she had it done PERFECTLY within the week. I don't have before photos but she matched the hem exactly how it was when I dropped it off. Everywhere else quoted me DOUBLE the price Maria charged me and she absolutely killed it. Will be back for any other alterations I may need. read more

Great turn around time and the pricing is decent but she's best for inexpensive garments. I took a $450 velvet dress to her for repair and she was so rough in handling the garment after that she cause a patch of the fabric to be ripped from the dress. When I pointed it out to her, she couldn't even apologize or offer remorse. First and last time I take anything to her. read more

My machine was busted so I needed to find a spot near my hood to hem a silk robe, silk shirt, and silk dress. I have always gone to places in the city that do hems perfectly so it was definitely my fault for assuming that everyone knows how to work with this type of fabric. One of the sleeves on the robe was already finished when my machine broke down so I expected the seamstress to be able to match the width/stitch that was already there. Instead, I have two sleeves that don't even match and if I were to correct this issue, I would ruin the garment completely because there isn't enough fabric left to redo the hem. I do understand that the common way to create a hem is to use a serger but you still should create a 'ROLLED HEM'. All of my garments had raw edge hems which you can see when the inside of the item shows. I really could have done a top-notch job myself just hand-stitching. The way to properly hem silk: Align the strip with one seam allowance raw edge, and sew a 1/4-inch seam allowance. For precision edges, try a special presser foot designed for sewing 1/4-inch seam allowances. Wrap the strip to the underside of the seam allowance, and pin it in place. Stitch-in-the ditch along the strip seam to finish Note: For a thinner silk, use a smaller stitch around 1.5-2. For a thicker silk, use a 2-2.5 stitch. Test on a scrap piece of fabric before stitching on your actual fabric. The best way to attach the seams for silk garments is by using French seams Second Note: Most overlockers can sew a rolled hem stitch. The rolled hem stitch is sewn using either two or three threads, depending on your model - be sure check your instruction manual first. Rolled Hemming is suitable for light weight fabrics such as voile, organdy, crepe etc. I am thankful that the seamstress took time to work on my garments but I'm also so disappointed because of the items that were so poorly stitched. You just can't use a serger for all fabrics and expect the same results. read more

Great service and price. Alterations were done quickly and correctly, and Maria was very friendly!

I have driven past Maria's so many times. I went to a friend's clothing swap party and scored a perfect pair of pants yet the first time I wore them I discovered the zipper was broken. Maria's to the rescue. She replaced the zipper for $12 and its perfect! I will definitely be back with a stack of stuff for her! read more

Maria is kind and accommodating! the task is done on time the charge is reasonable! great small business!!

I cannot say enough good things about Maria's alterations! She and her staff have mastered their craft and are always accommodating and meet my dates and expectations. The establishment itself is very small and humble at no fault of the shop owners, but whether it's a Quinceañera dress, prom dress, or any other party attire ... even just simple pant hemming the job is always done right the first time. read more

I flew into Portland 4 hours before a formal business event that evening. When I pulled my outfit out of the suitcase, it had a 4 inch tear at the seam! I called this place and they were able to get me in, sew up the seam, and get me on my way to my event in 10 minutes. I was so relieved and grateful! I appreciate it! read more

Maria shortened a few dresses for me and altered one dress. Did a good job and the dresses were ready when promised

Went to get a couple of pants altered and she did a great job. It was done in a timely manner and it was done well for a great price. The parking is limited but it doesn't take long for the transaction so it shouldn't be a problem. read more

I bought two pairs of true religion jeans, $170 each. I took them to Maria to be hemmed because she has mostly 5 star reviews. I picked my jeans up today and noticed she completely removed the original distressed hem. They look as if I just rolled them up. I am so upset, my jeans are ruined. Almost $400 down the drain. read more

She did a great job shortening my pants. The cost and turnaround time were awesome. I'll be coming back again for all my alteration needs.

I had asked Maria to alter a bridesmaids dress for me. We had agreed upon a price. Come to find out, when looking at her price sheet when I went to pick up the dress, I was clearly overcharged. Only by 5-10$ or so, but still. Then after trying on the dress, part of the alteration we had agreed upon was not done. She was able to do it for me while I waited, but then charged me an extra 5$. I don't like being taken advantage of... and I think that certainly happened today. I recommend you read her price list before agreeing to an obscure price. read more

Absolutely amazing!!! Needed a pair of pants hemmed & altered, she had it done in 24hrs. Incredible. Oh & you can't beat her pricing!

Very kind and patient. Good work for good value. Had a renaissance faire dress tailored and done perfectly as requested

love their work! if you have long dresses, abayas this is he place to get trimmed to fit your size!!

She is truly amazing. I took her a blazer. To take it in from the sides and shorten the sleeves. I took it to her Monday night (12-16-19) she had it ready by 12-18-19. Fairly priced. She charged me $35. Seemed a little much but her fast turn around time and how good it was done was worth it. I had another seamstress that would take days/weeks and charge me the same. I took more things to her- coat to fix sleeves, take in some leggings, and do the same thing as above to another blazer. I'm excited to get them back. read more

Maria hemmed a (very long) bridesmaid dress to a perfect fit within a week for me. She was so kind and accommodating, and clearly has very loyal customers to her. No surprise there! Highly recommend. :-) Thank you Maria! read more

No complaints here! Wanted to get my bridesmaid dress hemmed with no frills as the dress was only $50 hahah so didn't want to spend more than that just to shorten it! Maria only charged me $30 (it was a pretty noncomplicated dress so I'm sure she charges more for those) and it turned out great! She has a little tiny changing room to get into the dress for her to mark the measurements. It was all super easy and straight forward, definitely recommend. read more

Maria is very friendly and professional! Her prices are the lowest I have found while researching a place to get my bridesmaids dress hemmed. She did a wonderful job and even offered for me to try it on before I left the store. It was very well done and pretty fast. It took only a week for her to finish my three layer dress. I will definitely recommend and use her services in the future! read more
