We were in the area and dropped in here, as we have several times over the years.  This is a smaller and more congested than typical Mariano's.  The congestion level applies to the bar and customer lounge area also.  Parking is plentiful though.   A fair number of Orthodox Jews live in the area, so you will find many kosher products here that meet their needs, much more so than at other Mariano's.   Other than those point-outs, it's a nominal Mariano's and gets the job done for the customer base.

Prices can be a bit high when not on sales but this is beautiful with a huge area for plants and trees indoors next to a tall window. They also have a baby grand piano, and a food bar, sushi, fruit, and vegetables, condiments, a hot food bar with an olives, lots of cheeses and meat and seafood and ice cream and dairy products. I get out of this place because near the Starbucks and near the trees and plants you can sit there at the table and enjoy some food and drinks. Huge parking lot and friendly staff.

I love a store with a large parking lot and wide aisles inside! This location has Happy Hour Friday nights 4-8 PM. Check their schedule for entertainment news. The remodeled Starbucks inside looks nice. Today they had sample desserts in Bakery section. I popped in for quick lunch in the cafe seating area. A relaxing time for solo dining or dining with friends. I wanted fresh mac and cheese and staff was friendly and accomodating to bring out more. I also wanted to get fresh sushi to go and staff prepared it fresh-thanks so much! Cashiers looked like they were in training and were doing a great job. I thanked each by name: Victoria, Jordan and Priscilla. THANK YOU to Marianos and staff!!

Sold me mussels that were all dead. Bought only hours before trying to cook and every single one was open and dead. They smelled horrible.

I'm guessing Kroger bosses witnessed what I (and other Yelpers) described in recent reviews, and made a serious effort to improve the quality of the shopping experience. Change was obvious on our most recent visit. In general, the store has been spiffed up -- rearranged, decluttered, and cleaned. The "fresh" aisles continue to be Mariano's strong point. A sparkling new Starbucks stands next to the dining rotunda (Vero Gelato moved across the aisle). The array of prepared foods and meals-to-go seems bigger and better now than before the pandemic. The salad bar (but not the hot bar) is back to its former glory. The sushi and poke bowl selection has expanded. There are many new goodies at the bakery. Elsewhere, grocery shelves bulge with inventory including many items we hadn't seen here before. Yeah, prices have risen here like everywhere else, but we found nearly every item on our shopping list ... and then some. Alas, the store remains a couple asparagus spears short of the sublime experience of when it was under Bob Mariano's discerning eye (for a taste of the latter, visit Dom's Market). Yo, Kroger! Please replace the decrepit shopping carts and bring take-a-number back to the service counters!

I've been shopping here weekly for 2+ years since moving back to Chicago so it's time for a review. As some might have mentioned, the carts can be janky. This happens at literally any grocer/retail store. I just find one that isn't & keep it moving. They generally have stock of ALL my items when I come here but that said, we're living in different times. Stores are more than likely to be out of things you never had issues finding before. Again, I'm remaining unbothered. If it's not here, I'll get it elsewhere. Where this grocer shines is their prepped foods. Chicken - specifically the rotisserie, baked, & fried. It makes my "meal prep" easy for the work week. Macaroni & cheese is heavenly. Produce is fresh - yes sometimes you might have to pick through the bunch but you'll do this everywhere. And the pies... I'm not even a pie person, but I appreciate their caramel walnut apple pie. I'll buy the 1/2 ones & it's a real treat. Two-bite pecan tarts are also a nice dessert. The bakery is a delight. This location is also clean - unsure where all the negative comments are coming from. Sometimes you'll end up in areas where they're restocking. Anyone I've run into is polite or simply moves so you can get by. The young man I usually see tending to carts in the parking lot is probably the friendliest, cheeriest person you'll meet. I rarely wait in line as I just take my things through self checkout & even then, it's pretty typical. Scan-pay-leave. Scanning their rewards card also gets you up to $0.10 off gas at BP stations. You're getting groceries anyway & anything off gas these days is welcome. I'll continue coming here as I can get in & out of here quickly & of course... leave with some hot chicken to enjoy at home. If you need to grab groceries or just grab some food to make a quick meal, this place is worth a visit.

Please fix the carts. Kosher section is 4 stars. Ambiance is chill. Hit and cold bar looks good. I'm tired of getting shit carts.

First time back in about 6 months. We live about 3.5 miles, & would go out of our way to shop here for the following reasons: -live piano music, excellent salad & hot bar, pizza oven, sushi, & bbq. -grab a drink at the bar, enjoy live music, & grocery shop -clean tidy & organized store -good quality produce/meat/seafood BUT then...Kroger bought this store & every went down hill. The hot food is terrible, fruits/veg are terrible, the customer service is a joke, & I feel like I'm in Walmart when shopping at this store. **now they have removed the live music** They were stocking shelves in the middle of peak shopping time , 5pm. You couldn't go down certain isles due to crates of boxes blocking the way, and it's always like this!! That is the absolute last time I enter this store! Kroger should be be ashamed at how they decimated this store.

This is so dirty; I could even scan my items. It seems like COVID does not exist here.

My husband and I had fun going in there today at around 2:00, and the Oyster Bar (yes, cool, huh!) had happy hour from 2 to 5.

I don't love monopolies, unless I am winning at the board game. So I look up cheap grocery stores, and other than Aldi, Food4Less came up. I found one not too far away from me and decided to venture up there. I walked through the doors and some of the first merchandise I see has the Kroger logo. Go figure. Where it comes to this specific grocery store, variety is one of the items that cost it points Their selection was fair, but the deli department is notably small, and there is no visible butcher shop (though there are meats and seafood for sale). You can more or less find everything you would need among these notably very wide aisles, but perhaps some items would require one to go elsewhere. Among the items they had, the store appeared clean and well stocked. When it comes to their prices, while nothing is cheap anymore, especially in Chicagoland, I found their prices were a little lower than average, especially for the eggs. When it comes to the customer service, this could also be a little bit better. While there was no one at the customer service desk, it had a little sign that said that this register is closed. So... if you need to return something or if a price isn't right, what then? You're just out of luck or something? I'd also like to note that this is a place where you bag your own groceries. Not a problem, necessarily, just thought I'd put it out there. Thus, while I appreciate the lower prices, the slightly limited selection and the lack of customer service cost Food4Less a couple points. Still respectable though, and I can still see myself coming back on occasion.

It is within walking distance, which is a plus, though I do watch the prices and go to Mariano's or Jewel when they offer more for less. EVERYONE at the meat/cheese counter is great, and friendly. They really do know their stuff, though at times, I wish they had a ticketed numbered system. It would prevent me from going off on some of the older Eastern Euro clientele when they try to butt in line. NOT happening! The cashiers are efficient, though there is a tall male one that is new to me. Feels like his name should be Draco. Would almost pass for AI, due to his height an personality, though AI can be programmed to be charming and efficient. He literally saw me put down items on the belt and looked like he was confused as to what his role was, then asked me if I wanted a bag for all my purchases, despite it being obvious that I had none with me. I had to get snippy, because, well, I had to get snippy. Oprah did mention them in one of her shows, so they got "trendy" afterwards, but as other reviewers have said, they do carry items that you would find more at a Treasure Island than a Jewel, Aldi, or Mariano's. They are good for that. Now, if they would only work on their AI cashiers and make them more personable, then I would give them a five star rating. Especially since peeps in the hood voted down Amazon from taking over and planting seeds on the corner of Western and Lawrence, to take over the grocery store market.

They have some international brands, although the Mexican grocery store farther west on Lawrence (Lindo Michigan) is a better bet for Central American things. They sell some local brands, including freshly-roasted coffee from Brü Coffeeworks, also on Lawrence. Prices are a smidge higher than you might find elsewhere, but at least they're consistent and don't require you to download an app or join a frequent shopper club or whatever. I do wish they would stay open a little later. The staff are helpful, and they have a good selection of spices and seasonings. I wasn't able to find caraway seed elsewhere, for some reason, but when I asked a staff member if they had any, he immediately took me to the exact spot on the shelf where they had it in two different container sizes.
