This is undoubtedly the biggest advantage of working with her, as she has spent years cultivating authentic personal and business relationships with so many small business owners and vendors in the area. I share this detail not only to highlight how this will streamline your planning process but to assure you that your celebration will organically be infused with the down-to-earth, warm quality that draws so many of us to Big Sur--a feeling that can easily get lost in the pursuit of a Pinterest-perfect event. When I struggled to find local hair and makeup artists who had the experience and tools to accommodate me as a Black bride, Mariah didn't hesitate to connect me with contacts from her network so I could find a perfect match (Rhonda Johnson Bridal Makeup and Hair). When I was struggling to find a gluten-free cutting cake for our reception, she sent me the information for several local, family-owned gluten-free businesses (Nece's GF). When we were curious about working with a calligrapher, she connected us with her family friend Anna Bouchard. When we were exploring local options for a farewell brunch following the wedding, she personally introduced us to the owners of Alta Bakery and Cafe in Monterey. And the list goes on! She made sure that Mike, the owner of Big Sur Bakery, could meet with us during one of our scheduled in-person consults to discuss any questions or concerns we had ahead of our event. We got to learn more about the history of the restaurant or share what it meant to our relationship. She ordered us a copy of the restaurant's published cookbook to use as our guestbook; it is such a unique artifact that is both beautiful and functional (every time we open the book to use new recipes, we are greeted with all of the sweet notes from our loved ones). I know it's typical for people to warn couples that something WILL go wrong on their wedding day to manage their expectations, but we truly cannot think of a single thing that didn't go to plan during our celebration, thanks to the stellar coordinating done by Mariah. Our day was stress-free, joy-filled, and EASY. Beyond that, it was incredibly aesthetically gorgeous because all of the vendors were able to show up and bring their absolute best service due to all the coordination with Mariah behind the scenes. It was really important to us that we could trust that our vendors would create a vision of Big Sur that captured all of the elements things we love most about the environment without us having to be prescriptive or overly particular about how everything came together. The result completely exceeded our expectations and felt so authentic to us as a couple. Other notes: I live with both type 1 diabetes and celiac disease and Mariah went above and beyond to make sure that our food/drink menu could offer me options I'd be excited about. She built a wedding day timeline that explicitly called out structured meal times, which helped ensure that I ate three square meals and had stable blood sugars all day (she was always aware of where my purse with my diabetes supplies was throughout our event). Mariah was the day-of coordinator for our mid-May Big Sur wedding, and we wish we could have worked together for longer! She was an incredibly calming presence from the moment we met her during our ceremony rehearsal, and seamlessly took on multiple responsibilities over the course of our wedding day to make sure that we didn't have to worry about anything but enjoying ourselves. She handled everything from playlist switching to heating up some items for our dessert bar, all while setting up the event, keeping the day's schedule on track, and coordinating all our vendors and guests to follow the set timeline. Working with Mariah was such a pleasure. I spoke with 4 wedding planners before hiring Mariah. While I connected immediately with her personality-wise, she was also the only one who followed up with photos of her work, like I had asked during our first phone call. I knew then that she was organized and would following through. She also grew up in Big Sur so knows the area like the back of her hand! I had originally wanted an elopement and knew planning one in the Big Sur area can be really tough. Vendors are not super plentiful because it is so remote, there is little to no cell service, and venues book up fast. For example, despite having a mid-week wedding, NO ONE would do my flowers because a) they were booked or b) my wedding was considered too small! After getting my 10th or so rejection email, I had a panic attack, but Mariah was able to make some calls and found me a wonderful florist who was able to do my flowers all within budget! Speaking of budget, she was super mindful of my little budget and would check in with me beforehand to make sure that pricing for vendors, and decorations, her time, etc. were on point, which I 100% appreciated. She was also so helpful when my elopement ended up becoming a small wedding with guests 6 weeks before the wedding! Mariah was our day of coordinator for our wedding at Bar SZ Ranch. She brought Blain with her to assist. They both did a great job. Mariah got in touch with all of our vendors in the month before the wedding, and she was attentive to the details relevant to each vendor. She worked with us to build the timeline that made sense for the wedding we wanted. She helped us structure the timing of the speeches, and when to move people through dinner. Naturally, there were little hiccups, but with Mariah and Blain there, we didn't even notice. She let us be at ease and enjoy the day and helped solve the issues that came up. They were helpful with decor. Blain is a florist, so she was very familiar with what was best for the arrangements we had brought. Since it was a bright day, she suggested that we place the centerpieces under the tables to save the flowers. But by the time the reception started, all was reset. They managed the caterer, and the DJ. Mariah even found time in the schedule so that we could quickly rehearse our first dance. Mariah also added on a few hours to run through the ceremony the day before, and to help oversee the caterer setup for our dinner on Friday. When the caterer was late, she stayed an extra hour to help get everything sorted. I even saw her cleaning up a broken glass - no idea how that broke - but the moment is emblematic of the experience working with Mariah. Short story- My wife and I got engaged in June of 2016 and decided to get married in Big Sur. This turned out to be a much, much harder undertaking than we could've known- difficulty booking a venue in the first place (due to booked and difficult to deal with venues) and then long heartbreaking delays where we eventually had to reschedule our wedding due to Pfeiffer Canyon Bridge getting damaged by floods in early 2017. Fast forward 22+ months from our engagement and we FINALLY had our Big Sur wedding this last month. Although we had always had very high hopes for getting married in Big Sur (high enough hopes to make the judgment call that it was worth waiting so long for) it was better than we'd ever expected. Our Big Sur wedding simply would NOT have happened, much less been as staggeringly wonderful, if not for the team of Mariah Green (our wedding coordinator), Kendal and Anthony DeLaura (our photographers), and Jeffty Martinez (otherwise known as DJ Jeffty). For Mariah's part- she was literally the glue that held this whole thing together. Every email, late night call, exasperated sign, stress filled text Mariah responded to with caring, grace, and confidence. She pulled us through every twist turn, change, and difficult decision. Mariah acted as our day-of-coordinator for our recent wedding in Big Sur. It was outdoors from start to finish so required a lot of rentals and organizing, since we couldn't be at the reception site to help set up because we were all getting ready and getting photos taken. Mariah was a gem of a coordinator, from start to finish. As soon as I first talked to her on the phone she put me at ease (she has a real gift for that!) and once we were able to hire her, she blew my expectations away. She did more than agreed on in the run-up to the wedding even, stepping in when the caterer we'd hired went a little AWOL on communications-- so Mariah met with her prior to our event and then sent out an emailing detailing the agreements they'd made. The day of the wedding, she handled herself with such grace and good humor that we've had wedding guests mention her and how hard she worked. She handled reception set-up on her own, with lots of relatives help-- and when we walked up to it so surpassed our expectations. It looked incredible! Of course, since it's a wedding, some things didn't go as planned (I still don't know why my mother-in-law forgot to bring the cocktail napkins-- but there were some more generic plain brown ones there and I'm almost certain that was Mariah's doing)-- but I knew I could count on Mariah to do her best Plan B-ing. The biggest issue was that the caterer didn't send enough food accidentally-- so Mariah ran out and got more sandwiches asap so about 20 people at least had something to eat. The beauty of working with Mariah though, is that we didn't even know about the small issues that happened-- she just handled them and did it beautifully.
