I love Cirque shows…read more My wife and I figured we'd see a show while living in Houston and they were in town, so that's exactly what we did! This show was great! I have liked all three of the touring shows I've seen, but this was my first time in the Big Tent! It was a super hot day out, but the AC kept things nice inside. Don't expect big, comfortable seating with ample space to stretch out because these kinds of things are meant for packing people in. It's OK, that's what I expected since that's how most event-type places are. I'm glad there was an intermission so I could stretch out my back a little, though. Parking was easy getting in and out, although I could see it taking a bit longer if you get there a bit later than semi-early or if you get out of the tent a little slower. My favorite act was the juggler!

This review is for their performance in Houston…read more If you've been to other Cirque Du Soleil in the race park before then you know that there's no way around paying for parking. It will cost you $12 to park. The good thing about the parking is it was super organized so even though there were long lines of cars trying to park, the lines were moving; and once I had paid, the attendees directed me where to go and it took me less than a minute to park. Before you can enter the Grand Chapiteau, you have to go through your typical security measure. There are no metal detectors but they will look inside your purse if you have one. I was here with my sister and she didn't have a purse so we didn't even get checked. She did have a jacket on her but they didn't check it. This means you could sneak in your own snacks/drinks should you be inclined to. Why would one be inclined to sneak in their own snacks/drinks? Well, a bottled water/soda will run you $5. Nachos will run you $10. A Cotton candy will run you $8. Hot dog will run you $7. You see where I'm going with this? If you're coming here with your family (kids, wife, girlfriend, whatever), then you be better be ready to be dropping some $$$$. As for the show, it's your typical CDS stage/seating. You have the round stage with the seats surrounding them. I was lucky enough to get good seats to the right side and three rows from the stage so I was able to see everything clearly. If you opt to sit toward the back, some times you can't even see the faces of the performers clearly. The show started at eight on the dot. Some of the performances are pretty typical CDS where it would amaze you what a human body can do with training (contortionist, balancing act, juggling). Some of the other acts were more creative (invisible circus, finger dancing, animal impression). One act in particular was a combination of both where you have this dude playing yo-yo in the middle of the stage, but holy cow, he could control them yo-yos like they were a part of his body. I felt like he should have been competing in international yo-yo championship or something. All in all, I was happy with the show. This was also my sister's first Cirque Du Soleil and so everything was brand new to her and she was thoroughly impressed with the performances. CDS is always a fun event to go to and I definitely will go to whatever other Cirque Du Soleil shows that would make a stop in Houston.

I have personally seen several of their performances, and their quality takes music and dance to a whole different stratum. It is all indicative of the level of discipline that is imparted to each and every one of their student. The amount of organization I've seen in the performances, as well as in the every-day studio operation is reflective of their level of excellence, and the cohesiveness of the staff and volunteers exudes their team work abilities. If you're interested in giving your children and/or yourself a chance to grow artistically, make new friends and have fun while you're doing it, make sure to contact them. They'll take care of you!

But Im going to be completely honest and transparent for those considering this dance company. We devoted a year to these people. I really wanted my daughter to be here long term but a series of events led me to the final decision to withdrawal my child. The studio is run down. There waiting area is made up of two foldable chairs. Their systems are completely outdated. They print out an excel sheet, which is hung up by the door, they cross and scribble things out and that's how they communicate for their upcoming shows. The director lacks communication and professionalism. Just ask other parents, none have anything good to say about how the owners operate the studio. They are unorganized yet very strict. There were many red flags. What ultimately topped it off was recently, during this COVID-19 outbreak. The studio was open the first week and then reopened virtually the last week of March. Like many of you, these times hit hard. I got a ton of emails from everyone, my creditors, retailers, other businesses big and small expressing their support in these unsettling times. I got an email from Danmar saying I needed to pay for the full month (even though my daughter only attended one day) and threatened she wouldn't have a spot in the show. I refused to pay for a whole month's worth of classes we did not take. The owner is condescending and greedy. We will be taking our business elsewhere. There are plenty of ethical dance companies in the area. Save yourselves a headache guys. Hope this helps.

I moved forward with booking and paying deposit moments after. Once, after I reserved the space, invitations was order and printed, then sent out to guest. From the beginning of the conversation her tone didn't register well with me, as we discussed event. Literally after hanging up with Sara, i received another call from her, stating they couldn't host my event. In which, she stated they couldn't host for a flow of 75, but was able to draft a contract that states my event will be a flow of 75. Seems odd right. Seems like a lack is communication between owners, managers, coordinators, or the entire team. I would advise anyone seeking services from here to stay clear or make sure communication is clear across the board before signing or booking an event here. First impressions are lasting, and from one entrepreneur to another I would never conduct business as such. I will post on all social platforms how I have been inconvenienced due lack of communication on their end.

Formerly known as Circo Hermanos Vazquez, it's still a family-run business today. Today, the circus is constantly implementing new ideas and improvements--including state-of-the-art technologies and lightning--but they don't forget their roots. This show is filled with thrilling acrobatics, imaginative dance, impressive stunts, hilarious clowns, and even more. While at the circus, you will find classic circus vendor items available for purchase such as popcorn, cotton candy, nachos, funnel cakes, churros, snow cones, and more. I took the Things to the circus this year (at the ATX location, Barton Creek), and we were thrilled by the comedy, acrobatics, and stunts. We also appreciated that the show was in both English and Spanish (way to be inclusive)! There wasn't a bad seat in the house, so no matter what tickets you buy for this show, you will be able to see all the action. This is a show for all ages and if in town, this is a must-see!
