The pavilion was nice and covered perfect for our big picnic! Right next to us was the bathrooms, shop, and little restaurant. We were able to change easily into our bathing suits to go swim at the beach and my friend was even able to buy a bikini from the store since she forgot one - so convenient! The beach is beautiful and the water is stunning, be prepared to walk across a lot of sand to get to the water part. After swimming, we went to get some ice cream from the shop, and I got a root beer float, which was good. Overall, such a nice time!

Problem is- signage isn't very clear on how to get to the parking lot for the park! The directional sign on the road says "Sculpture Park" with a right arrow- and if you make the next turn you are sitting in front of the police station. Which is where we parked and walked down the sidewalk on A1A to get to the park. Turns out- there is a back exit to the parking lot at the police station that goes down a road and dead ends into the parking lot for the park. Who knew?- not this woman! Oh well- the Lakeside Park/Veteran's Memorial/Sculpture Garden park has a large round memorial to all of the service branches- very pleasing to the eye. In the center is the American Flag and the POW flag below it. There is a board walk along the lake- which provides a wonderful view of turtles! I'm sure you could see some birds too- depending on the time of day. The path winds South and is adorned with a variety of sculptures- hence "Sculpture Garden". I think my favorite was the one that looked like a Phoenix- although there were several that caught my eye. Plenty of shade, benches and art! Oh Well- the big sign at the Southwest corner of the park said Lakeside Park, Veteran's Memorial Park.

I've been on several charters on the Great Lakes and dealt with some high strung Captin's. Alex was laid back and made the trip very enjoyable. With it being the kids first time we opted for the four hour charter and only went about ten miles out. The kids had a blast reeling in some King Mackerel, Albacore Tuna and even a Barracuda 13 in all. When we made it back to the dock Capt. Alex and Chase filleted our catch for us and sent us home with a cooler full. If your in St. Augustine looking for a charter there are several you could choose but only one you should! We had a fantastic day on the water, and everyone caught several fish (snapper, drums, whiting, and flounder). The best part? Having a first timer 8 year old say, "this is way more fun than video games." Capt Chris and Jacob were great- and very good with children and adults alike. We are already looking forward to our next trip with them. Oh, and they informed us that Aunt Kate's would cook our catch - which they did. To perfection.

The fish weren't showing themselves like they sometimes do during flood tides, but we still got a few shots in. Paddling through the flats on a paddle board is the way to go. The sunrise tour was stunning -- truly the most beautiful time to be on the water as the birds and critters wake up. We're planning to book another tour to do the bioluminescence paddle at night as well. This sunrise tour is going on my list of best things to do in Jax -- it's truly NE FL at its best. Everything was super easy to book and Hayden had our gear ready and waiting to go, so we were able to get right on the water and see the full sunrise over the river.

In addition, we caught a red snapper and a couple of barracudas. We even had a large sea turtle surface to check out the boat. The boat is fantastic. Captain Jeannie and Keith were great. We felt very at ease with such a competent and confident crew. We now know that when we go next time, and there will be a next time, we will go for at least 8 hours.
