I'll admit it, I'm a serial quitter when it comes to working out... But I've been going to Rupa's…read moreclasses for six months now, and I'm hooked! Both her Zumba and Bengra classes are high-energy, non-judgmental, and mostly--a lot of fun. I always walk out of them feeling mentally and physically better than I came in! And afterward the foggy windows tell the tale of how much energy the class required... Others have talked about the Sunday Zumba class, but my favorite is the Bhangra class on Wednesday: step by step, Rupa builds up a little routine that you then dance to a few different songs. This gives you a pleasurable feeling of "mastering" something by the end of class (well, after a couple classes!), and a chance to explore these moves in different rhythms. Finally, I like that this style of dancing has a lot of arm moves, so you don't only work out your core and legs, but also your arms and shoulders...

At the end of the school year, I was on a fitness kick when a friend invited me to attend an open…read morehouse at her Pilates studio to try out a new Bollywood Fusion Zumba class being offered. Flash forward and I am totally hooked! Sundays without Zumba just make my whole week feel "off." The instructor, Rupa, is enthusiastic, welcoming, and supportive. Her goal is to get you moving, sweating and having fun. The best part? The music and Rupa herself. The mix of Latin, Bollywood, and Banghra makes the class stand out from most Zumba classes I have been to, with awesome beats and moves that work your whole body head to toe. Rupa is amazing to watch, and when she's really into a new song that she LOVES, her energy is so contagious that you can't help but join in. While it's not the most hard core Zumba I've seen or heard about, I definitely recommend going at least twice. The first class, the moves might seem complicated or awkward, especially if you're used to traditional Latin dances. But that definitely disappears by the 2nd and 3rd class. Consider it a great healthy way to spend an hour on a Sunday afternoon!

After 30, I took the plunge: quit my job and moved to RI so that I could pursue my schoolgirl…read moredream of going to cosmetology school. For the three years prior, I visited every beauty school in the North East, Midwest, and Canada but nothing felt like home until I walked in the doors of TONI&GUY RI. The music was pumping, the personal styles were cutting edge and the hair was awesome! This school is run like family - and while having a very diverse class in terms of age (17-45...another reason for choosing T&G), we were all embraced and supported on our journey. The Teachers, Admissions, Front of House, and Directors are immensely caring and engaged on everything from life to hair and our futures. Oh the tears I cried and the wisdom I received! I can honestly say that I had fun every day, laughed, and learned the most scientific method to cutting. The curriculum is where art meets science. The program is intense (you do your first haircut your second day of school and nine more in the first month!), and it's so worth it! Alumni are welcomed back with open arms for hugs, chats, career direction, or even teaching jobs in the academy. I still adore popping in for a blowdry or updo when I have weddings to go to. The talent and creativity of the students is insane. I am so happy I made the leap into the world of beauty. I love what I do! I love blessing others through this business. So if you're on the fence about career and life, take the plunge, and go to hairdressing school. Just make sure it's at a place you can call a forever home: TONI&GUY RI.

My niece wore a gown made out of coffee filters and it was Gorgeous!! The show last about 2 hours and there were probably 30-40 models. The music and lighting was extremely professional. The venue was large enough to handle the crowd and parking was plentiful. The cost of admission was only $5 and it was absolutely worth it. I will be going every year whether or not I know a model in the show.
