Hidden in the 2nd floor atrium of an office building, Mari Bakeshop was such a gem to find!
Love the lighting and the ambiance-- a little greenery in the atrium, the minimalist design, and the open-air feel made it feel so peaceful. The shop sells both savory and sweet goods (including sandwiches). But definitely try their cream puff (choux)! The vanilla and Oreo choux were delicious! Love the texture of the choux pastry, a little like that sugar cookie crust part of bolo bread, and the pastry cream filling was light but flavorful too.
The croissants were good but not amazing, but maybe because it was late in the day and they weren't warmed? The croissant was soft and bready instead of laminated and crisp. I loved the lemon poppy croissant's sweet and tangy glaze flavor (nothing inside), but the raspberry croissant filling was a real raspberry puree that wasn't sweet enough for me even with the pretty glazing on the outside! I'd skip the raspberry croissant but try the lemon poppy one again earlier in the morning.
The shop keepers were very friendly and sweet. We stopped by 10 min before closing, and there was still plenty to choose from (the whole range of choux flavors were available) despite being sold out of some croissant options. If I worked here, I'd totally be dropping in often-- be sure to check this cute little bakery out and try the choux! read more
