Since we were not in the market for any floor coverings or furniture, we mainly perused the antiques. Most of the items are dishes and decorative displays such as ornamental plates, vases and other décor items. We purchased a very cute antique pineapple carved in wood that is now proudly displayed on our fireplace mantle. The woman working in the store was very friendly and helpful. I will definitely return here the next time I am in the area. I imagine this place is a treasure for folks re-decorating their homes but it's certainly worth a stop just to check out the antiques as well.

Instead, from the start, the interaction felt dismissive. When I asked about office chairs, I was told there were none, even though I was looking at one. When I pointed it out, the sales person simply showed me the price tag (over $3,000) and stopped there. The issue was not the price. I understand the value of quality furniture and was prepared to buy. What stood out was the attitude -- as if I was being pre-judged rather than assisted, and as if the price alone was meant to end the conversation. I left without purchasing, not because of cost, but because of the experience.

I went to the counter to ask to buy it even though I knew it was not an item of their inventory. I was asked to show the salesperson where I found it, and as I showed her she said, "oh just take it, it's not worth anything and we have plenty of them, just take it!" That kind of understanding of the customer and her needs is the most valuable skill ! I shall be back tomorrow and from now on and I will be BuYIiNG!
