I could possibly have SEPSIS and needed a doctor to take bloodwork since the ER I was seen at was running 20 hours behind and NOT moving at all. There is ZERO care at this office. However, the…read moreatrocious and impossible service I have received since I became a patient with Forbes Family has motivated me to at least try to save one person out there from entering this disaster. The first and most obvious problem with Forbes Family Practice is that you will NEVER be able to reach them. You likely will never even reach a live operator on their ridiculous phone system. I have never been able to make an appointment without waiting upwards of 20 - 30 minutes on hold... regardless of the time of day/week/whatever. I have actually routinely had to resort to just going in person to the receptionists to make my appointments face to face. (Interestingly they never seem to be answering phones or juggling this seemingly MASSIVE load of incoming calls that warrants putting customers on hold for such ridiculous lengths of time.) The staff themselves, (With the exception of the front desk) are actually very friendly and courteous. This is the only reason I hesitate to give such a negative review or change my primary physician. Overall though, this singular positive aspect is far outweighed by just lacking they are in other important areas. The wait times are absurd. I have never had an appointment where I did not have to wait more than 1 hour or more. I have yet to have an appointment where I didn't consider walking out the door and just giving up at least once during my visit...

For several years I have experienced mild knee pain. Mild turned to medium than spicy quickly,…read moresince I began a regimented exercise routine. I noticed every time I went to do a jumping jack my knees would buckle or I would feel searing pain like a stabbing feeling. I was using knee braces to help but when my exercises were being obstructed I knew I had to see an Orthopedic doctor since I don't want to be the person in class that can't do what everyone else is doing. I scheduled an appointment with the Orthopedic Association of Pittsburgh. The scheduling was relatively painless. I asked to see one doctor but was told it would be a couple of weeks so I asked for the first appointment available with any doctor. When I arrived I was checked in quickly and found the front desk lady to be polite and engaging. I waited maybe 10-15 minutes and was called back by I assume either a nurse or radiologist. He was super nice. Went over my issues with him and he was really inviting and likeable. After a while he took me back for x-rays. Then back to the room to wait on the doctor. First walks in a physician's assistant. She asks what the problem is. I retell my woes and she asks me to lie down where she begins to pinch and prod my knees and roundabouts. Followed with questions like "Does this hurt? How about now?" Yea it hurt stop it! She said hang tight and the doctor will be in with her to go over things. So I wait, probably a good 15 minutes. The doctor comes in with the assistant. Again asks me what's wrong. I regurgitate my story and he says my x-rays look good. But asks me to stand on a stool barefoot. I indulge him he makes comments to his colleague in doctor jargon, and wasn't really telling me anything. A few more exercises and he says, in layman's terms, that my knee caps are moving out. He suggests PT. I was really confused and didn't feel satisfied by his explanation. He started to say how the human body wasn't meant to do things like a bunch of jumping jacks in a row and these crazy HIIT exercises are causing this, along with my genetic makeup, AKA thanks mom and dad. After the comment about working out I started to realize this guy was an idiot. Annoyed I said what can I do for the pain? I was half hoping they would give me a cortisone shot just so I can maintain my routines, but no says he will give me 800 Ibuprofen. I don't like pills and won't take them unless it's necessary so this was of no help to me. He left the room quickly closing the door behind him, some muttering about see you in 6 weeks. Can't wait. So checking out I am annoyed. I didn't understand what my problem is and how PT will help. At some point I was approached by the nurse from earlier and asked how it went. I told him I had no idea what just happened and was confused. He seemed sympathetic which was appreciated. So I left and made my first PT appointment. I liked just about everyone I came across in this visit except my no bedside manor dippy doctor. Unfortunate really, but I think I will call and change to another one for the follow-up. Good doctors are hard to come by, especially specialist. I often wonder why they chose to go into this profession when it's clear they don't like people. Who knows? I have to say this place is a three regardless of the doctor's attitude.

That was the best recommendation that I ever got. She is kind, understanding and willing to listen. We need more doctors like her. She is no longer at this address. This is a training facility, so don't get too attached to a doctor. He/she may be gone the next…read moretime you visit. I've never see the same doctor, so continuity of care is missing (for me). And because it's a training practice, you'll often be there for longer than usual. You're first seen by the trainee. After the exam and decided treatment, you're left to sit while he/she confers with the real doctor. That doctor may or may not come in to exam you again. But this isn't the reason I'm giving it the low rating, even though it's inconvenient and annoying. The reason it only rates one star is because health isn't something to play with. I needed a refill for a prescription I've been on for over a decade and will probably be on for the rest of my life. The pharmacist called for a refill. When it wasn't refilled, I called. Days later, I called again. I even asked that if there was an issue in refilling it (which there shouldn't have been) to please call me and let me know. Nothing. Then the insurance company called. Still nothing. I was getting desperate because I was out of the med by then. And for the record, it wasn't a pain med. It was for severe/chronic GERD, which can tear up the esophagus and throat if left untreated. I finally got my Rx refilled, but only because I left the practice and saw a new doctor. It's now been three weeks since I first requested the refill from Forbes Family Medicine and the Rx still hasn't been called in.

Earlier this week I had my first and last visit to the practice of Dr. Jason Luciano at his…read moreAspinwall PA Office. I was referred to him by my PCP to have a cyst removed. The procedure seemed to go well and I returned to my office. Once there I noticed that my back felt wet and, as you can see in the photo, the wound was leaking blood. I called Luciano's office and spoke with a nurse who I told I was back at the office and the wound needed attention. He suggested I get gauze and tape and apply it to the wound. I noted that I couldn't do it myself since the wound is on my back. What was I supposed to do? Strip to the waist and ask a colleague to do it? I then told the nurse I was immediately returning to Luciano's office. When I arrived the Physician's Assistant treated the wound and redressed it. I asked to speak with the doctor but was told he wasn't available and I could speak with the Office Manager. My conversation with her was, to put it mildly, highly unpleasant. I won't be returning to this doctor and I've made arrangements to have the sutures removed by my PCP.
