The optometrist was excellent, but I'm disappointed with the staff, because I needed a copy of my prescription and I called there already 3 times and have never received the copy requested. First time I spoke with a staff member who promised to send it immediately, but I didn't receive. The store owner really came through for me when I lost my glasses for work. I work in front of a computer all day and I have these single vision glasses that are optimized for that distance (everything is crystal clear). Do not recommend Margate Eye Care for glasses. The Optometrist in the office was very good (4 stars). On the other hand for glasses...NO. Mine had to be sent back 3 times and on the third try, I found out the Optician (owner) changed my script in one eye and that's why I couldn't see. Also, the charges for lenses only (we brought our own frames) that $300 of it was covered from insurance and the charges came to $600 out of pocket. Very suspicious! read more

Sadly as I waited for my appointment , I witnessed a nice lady back on her 3 trip (After 3 mistaken eye glass mistakes) berated by the Manger. I was in total disbelief the way this lady yelled and scream at this older woman who was simply trying to get a refund after 3 wrongly made glasses. I felt so sorry for this customer. As I sat there waiting for my eyes to be checked I never in my life saw a Manger of a Store berate and cuss out older lady. I was in just shock. I walked out and will never go there. This left such a bad taste in my mouth. 3 wrong glasses attempt, and this Manger said 'NO Refund' Great lady, then no Business. Sadly then a Gay Slur was thrown to this poor lady and then I walked out. In this day and time, Gay Bashing is this day and age is just so sickening. I am reporting them to the Better Business Bureau, this was just so disgusting. Steer Clear of this sham of a business, they are there to just take you money and run. read more

I accompanied my mom during her visits to this location and the eye doctor was very pleasant and nice to work with. Unfortunately, Chelsea's level of professionalism is given based upon her mood for the day so I hope you walk into her establishment when she's in a good mood. Our experience dealing with Chelsea: 1. She damaged my mom's original glasses and didn't notify us of the incident. We only found out because I called her for an update after not hearing from her for 3 weeks. My mom had to wait almost a month to obtain her glasses. 2. Due to a misunderstanding over the remaining balance, she contacted my mom and started yelling and screaming at my mom and proceeded to hang up the phone after saying "I will charge your card and get my money." Make sure you obtain everything in writing and obtain your invoices/receipts when dealing with Chelsea. Dealing with Chelsea was a very unpleasant experience and I will post this review on all platforms so that all customers are aware. read more

This place runs insurance scams. Beware and know what your insurance covers and what your copay is, otherwise you will be paying out of pocket unnecessarily!! I called before coming in and was told that they accept VSP and are in network. Once in the store, the owner/optician was helping me pick the glasses, and was quite pleasant and helpful. Once the time came to pay for the glasses, she told me it would cost close to $300 instead of $25 VSP copay. Once I started asking "why", she immediately became extremely rude and started screaming at me: "... I spent so much time with you, you are wasting my time! Get out of here! You don't know anytihing! That's what your insurance copay is!" She would not let me ask questions or let me say anything, just kept on cutting me off and kicking me out. My insurance has a copay and completely covers polycarbonate and transitions lenses that she was trying to charge me for. It is appaling and unbelievable that Margate Eye Care are even in business, and that they think it is OK to cheat customes and treat customers and people that way. I went to City Eyecare after them, and, as I supposed to, paid $25 copay only, instead of $270 that Margate Eye Care tried to charge me through my insurance. read more

I found this place thanks to my insurance. Prices are reasonable but staff is horrible. The person I talked to on the phone was very friendly and extremely helpful which is why I made the appointment in the first place. I don't know if it was the same woman or not but the next day I arrived the woman and the front desk seemed bothered that I was even there! The optician herself was nice but seemed to dismiss all my questions when asked . She explained to me that it was just a basic exam and that she needed to refer me to someone else if I had any other concerns. All I came in for was a new prescription to replace the old lenses. It took about 2 weeks to get my glasses back. When I went in to pick them up sure enough another woman was at the front desk who also looked miserable. She didn't even smile when she said hello. She called over the other girl who helped me last time over to get the glasses. When she pulled them out clean them they already had 3 scratches on them! She turned to the other girl as if she was going to give them to me anyways and play it off like it wasn't that obvious. The other girl thank god spoke up and agreed that the scratches were indeed very visible. She then turned to me and said well "we're going to have to re order these" and you will have them by Saturday. In the mean time "let's replace your lenses with the old one...why would I just spend over 120 dollars on what suppose to be new lenses now with 2 different prescriptions in them? As an opticians office this is by far the dumbest thing I've ever heard especially considering the prescription is much stronger than the previous which would obviously strain my eyes more. I will never recommend this place to anyone and feel bad for anyone who is to go through the same! read more

In an economy where people are counting pennies and most do not have vision insurance, going to the eye doctor is a luxury. Consumers have many options available to them when it comes to spending their hard earned money. An eye doctors office should be top notch when it comes to customer service if it plans on keeping customers. The Doctor who treated me was very kind and respectful however the "Staff" is a different story. I was greeted by a locked door when I arrived promptly at 2pm for my 2pm appointment. Apparently they are completely closed from 1-2 for lunch? Sorry I found that odd. The 3 women facebooking at their desks simply gave me a blank stare and did not budge to open the door. Finally I'm "allowed" in by a woman who seemed bothered by having get up to let me in. There are now 4 souls in the building and I'm the only one with a personality. They quickly sucked that out of me. Not one smile, not one hello, nothing. I guess i interrupted lunch and I'm being punished for it? While in with the doctor, he struggled to concentrate as the phone rang off the hook and not one of them answered the phone! I couldn't believe how useless 3 employees in this tiny doctors office could be. It's not like there is a line of people waiting. There is no way they are that busy. I also dealt with the phone issue when trying to call around 11:30 that day with a question. No one answered. I returned to pick up my glasses during lunch. Oops I forgot about the 3 of them taking lunch at the same time, locked door, no one answered the phone. Two of the employees saw me waiting at the door, one of them said "We're closed" with an attitude as she approached the door. ( FYI: You work at an eye doctor's office answering phones in Margate. You're not curing cancer, drop the entitled attitude. There are tons of unemployed people that can do your job with a smile!!) The other employee was kind enough to retrieve my glasses for me. This place is located in a nondescript strip mall, away from the beach area and the glamorous shopping areas. I'm guessing that they share the savings that their location gives them with their customers, since their prices are fair and reasonable. I saved over $300 on my lenses (no joke: $300 !!) compared to the price for the identical prescription quoted to me at 3 other companies in the ;high rent' area. If you want glasses at a reasonable price, without having to deal with the bait and switch tactics of the big advertisers and their mythical low prices, and if you don't want to have to haggle for a reasonable price with a commission based sales rep posing as an optical technician, then you will be very pleased, indeed, with Margate Opticians. read more
