The West Acres Theater is a pretty large place. You should be able to find a movie you want to watch here. We appreciated the ability to choose our own seats when we bought two tickets to a movie recently. Apparently that's their new policy. You choose your seats for every movie when you purchase the tickets. Unfortunately, that takes more time at the checkout, so be prepared to wait in a line. We waited quite a while mid afternoon on a Saturday. The decor is slick and modern. You'll enjoy the oversize posters that line the hall promoting upcoming films. The seats and theaters are comfortable. The place was relatively clean. If you show up before 6 pm, you can get matinee pricing. It's still steep. read more

Not the best movie theater, just the best Fargo has to offer. This is where you want to come for the biggest new releases and summer blockbusters. You can tell it's a little bit older now, but it's kept up nicely enough. They have sort-of stadium seating, one of the better concession stands I've seen... And so many ads you can safely enter the theater 15 minutes after show time without missing any of your feature. Not previews, mind you. Ads. For websites, the theater chain, etc. It's expensive even by the standards of any big city I've lived in, but the screens are ok and I've never seen any projection or audio issues. I've been to better, less tired theaters (and less costly), but around here this is clearly the best option. It's kind of a beige, blend-in building on the south side of the West Acres mall and the mall's parking lot/roads are a bit confusing unless you're entering from 17th Ave, just FYI. Overall a nice place to watch a movie. They did a huge remodel a little ways back and the seats in the theaters are much more comfortable now. Newly upholstered, reclining seat backs, cup holders . . . the whole nice yards. I haven't seen a movie in the new Dream Lounger seats, but I've heard they're the bee's knee's. Personally, I'm afraid of getting too comfortable and falling asleep! =) West Acres has done a lot to boost attendance and make movie-going affordable again. They have deals on Tuesdays for $5 shows all day, a student and faculty offer on Thursdays, kid's flicks in the mornings, and other deals to bring people in. All in all, it feels more family friendly...more clean...and a very nice experience. read more

My first visit to this establishment. The sole reason for gracing this place with a three star rating, is that it has fair admission prices and an undeniably, sharp, modern decor. That will be the last time I will speak positively of this complex. Now, it's time for demerits. Firstly, a total lack of cashiers at the front. There was only one person staffed at the front selling tickets. This same person was also charged with checking the tickets of patrons before they can enter their theatre. This led to an unnecessarily long wait just to buy tickets. However, there were at least five employees running the nearly deserted concession counter. Secondly, this establishment has a system where the patrons pick their seats whilst buying their tickets, before ever entering the actual theatre. This isn't the first time I've seen a system like this, but it's definitely the first time that I've never seen it enforced. My companion and I had a hard time finding the seats that we were forced to pick because we were looking for unoccupied seats, our mistake. We returned to the front cashier, as we couldn't find any other employees, but had to wait before we could ask for help. We told him that the seats we were made to select were occupied and asked if we could take other seats. He told us that we would have to ask the violators to move before he could get any ushers or the manager involved. We returned and the violators refused to move, as their seats were also stolen. I took pity for the foul woman who was in my seat, as I realized this was a systemic problem of the complex and not necessarily of her evil doing. So, we stole someone else's seats. Eventually people came in looking for the seats that we were currently occupying, they simply shook their head and found other seats in the front of the theatre. TLDR: If a theatre is going to make its patrons pick seats, please actually enforce the seating, otherwise be done with this absurd policy. Also, don't make it the job of the patrons to enforce the policy if kept. read more

The larger of the theaters in the area, this movie theater is located behind the West Acres mall. It originally had two sections; one for the first-run, big blockbusters, and a second discount, older movies section. Will have to see if this is still true; the entry point for the main movie theater is a bit crowded - two lines going into the theater system feels odd, but is crammed during the cold winters. I believe now it only shows the main blockbusters and current films. Inside, better sound than at the CEC 10 nearby, but the seating and patrons are still much the same. A few coin-arcade machines, too, to either side, and the place is decently clean. Probably the best theater in the region. read more

we went here on a Monday for a matinee, so obviously we were not expecting much of a crowd and we got exactly what we expected. It was a very relaxing laid back experience in the ample air conditioning on a rather hot afternoon. The place is a decent size but I am thinking that when the place does get packed, it can be quite elbow to elbow. This is purely speculation however. The place was immaculately clean and in very good condition. The staff was about as friendly as you can get for out-of-school-for-the-summer kids. We thoroughly enjoyed the show read more

This place is so nice for the way- back prices. There were plenty of Seattle and you get to choose when you buy your ticket. The seats are comfortable and clean. The bathrooms we're clean and spacious. This is a great place to escape the heat and humidity. I would guess the same escape from the snow and wind in the winter. read more

The addition of recliners in the ultrascreen is a definite value add, however the system for which they let the customer choose their seats needs work because it creates long lines when busy. Be careful with he "butter topping", I believe it is 100% soybean oil and causes some people to get slight stomach discomfort... I don't like $7 plus stomach discomfort! Additionally, the concept of handing people a soda glass to fill their own beverage has not produced notable improvements on service time at the concession stand when they could easily have someone filling popcorns and sodas and not have 1 worker do everything the moment it is ordered. read more

It's a theater. Sadly the best/only option in F-M. I've never had any issues when going to a movie there. The one time there was a delay, they gave us free concessions and other accommodations. Clearly, they need some competition in this town since the prices are so high for as basic as they are. So on this aspect, I'm glad my family is moving away. read more

This theater is nice for North Dakota. I would have given it a higher rating but we ran into a handful of issues. We went to see the Lego movie on a Saturday night. We expected lines, what we didn't expect was only 3 people working the ticket lines. Still, the line moved relatively quickly as did the line for concessions. We ordered a couple of buckets of popcorn, candy, drinks, etc. The movie was on the Ultrascreen which was much bigger than anything we have here in Williston. The seating was very comfortable as well! Plenty of space between you and the seats in front of you. The three drawbacks were the first 15 minutes of our movie were really quiet, we could barely hear it. The ads - SO MANY! And many of them for the movie theater itself. Sure I get that theaters show ads now, but this seemed a bit excessive. The last was there were a LOOOOOT of unpopped kernels in our popcorn. In fact, it's some of the worst movie popcorn I've ever had. I'm sure we will be back in Fargo again sometime soon and we will give them another shot and I will update my review. Maybe we just got a bad batch of popcorn and I'm sure the sound was just a glitch. read more

A solid movie theatre choice. You get more reasonable deals on movie tickets if you go during the day or on Tuesdays. There was no line during the day but on a Sunday night the line was literally out the door with only two people selling tickets. From the reviews it seems this is a regular occurrence for the lines to be a bit out of hand. I think they must take this into consideration because I thought we were going to miss all of the previews, at the minimum, but they had only just begin a bit after that stated movie time. For the dream lounge matinees (which are super comfortable!!!!) you have the option to buy online ahead of time, or in theatre, and actually reserve which group of seats your party would like. That is a cool feature that I will take advantage of next time if possible. read more

Marcus theaters did a great job with the full renovation of this theatre. Full concessions and dream lounger. Dream lounger says it all. After sitting in one of these it's hard to go back to a standard multiplex. It has been an adjustment to the new reserved seating but now I love it. No more last minute hunt for 2,3,4,5... Seats together; and the wider aisles are fantastic. Room to go get a refill or use the restroom without walking on your neighbors' lap. If you haven't been since the update look up a showtime and get ready to relax. read more

My first time here. Eleven dollars for a regular movie. While I appreciate being able to choose my seat, it kind of was a crap shoot since I had zero idea of the slope of seats and height of screen. My seat is lumpy and uncomfortable!!!!!!! And the $5 mini-donuts (pre-made and warmed in an oven) are gross--taste like sawdust (seriously, how can you screw up donuts??)...they're dry and flabby--not the least bit of a crust present. Ugh! At least the movie should be good. I won't be back here anytime soon unless I'm desperate to see something that may not play elsewhere (such as this film, "Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri ", which should be showing at the Fargo Theatre, not this place. read more

I mean.. It's a good movie theater.. for North Dakota.. Everyone raves about these seats.. Be prepared to feel as if you are sitting in a leather car seat. Nothing special. I have been to better. Nothing beats the dreamloungers! I would come and watch a movie just to sit in these fabulous seats :) It is a definite must try. Also, being able to purchase the tickets and pick your seats ahead of time, makes it really easy. I just moved here a few weeks ago, so I have only been here two times, however, both times the popcorn was perfectly cooked and seasoned. read more

Came here for a movie and ended up having a great experience! The movie was good, but the employees were even better. The cashier Brooklyn was incredibly friendly. Based on my short interaction with her I'd say she deserves a raise (if she hasn't already got one). read more
