We stayed here in January to visit family. My husband and I had one room and my sister had another…read morewith her 2 littles and hubby. I had called a few weeks prior and asked if we could have our rooms nearby or conjoining if possible. They confirmed that they had made a note and it should not be a problem. When we arrived at the hotel (the same time as my sister) we discovered that no note was added to either reservation as promised and we were not going to be near each other. My room was set to be in the tower and my sisters on the first floor. They were able to get my room to the first floor and down the hall a bit so we were a bit closer, but we were certainly bummed when we found out they hadn't put the note in. The rooms were clean but very dry. My husband would sit on one of the beds and be able to get shocks going. The entire hotel is nice in terms of you can stay in the hotel the entire weekend and never leave. However, the weekend we stayed, the heat was not working in the pool room. The water temp was fine but the room was frigid. My little nephew was shivering and it definitely cut our pool time short. Saturday it was still freezing and we noticed some doors were propped open by exterior doors and said something to the staff about it being cold. They discovered that the heat was not working in the pool room and had maintenance working on it. Since we were staying there because of the pool, we were bummed that it reduced our pool time so significantly. They offered 10% off our Saturday stay but not our Friday because they said they didn't have any complaints despite it being freezing. There is a open space in the pool room with tables that you can sit at and eat (a lot of people ordered pizza). They certainly get claimed early, especially on Saturdays for birthday parties, so you do need to strategize. Friday night my sisters family and us ordered from Nine Dragons (recommend). Saturday night my parents (who were staying at my grandmas) brought over pizza and both grandparents joined. We were able to get a table but chairs were not fully available. I wish they would manage the tables and chairs a bit more since Friday night we barely got a table that fit 4 people for the 6 of us (then my parents bopped over too) yet there were tables being horded by other groups. The have a restaurant and bar on site. We went to the restaurant for breakfast on Saturday and we would say PASS on this one. On Friday and Saturday we went to the bar for drinks and this was a win!

"The boys from North Dakota They drink whisky for their fun"…read more(Lyle Lovett) The Holiday Inn Fargo was sold out because Fargo was a happening place with a college hockey tournament, a rodeo, and a car show. Now all those room reservations must be a great thing for the hotel, but they very much adversely affected some of the guests, which was a shame because while one of those deficiencies was an annoyance, another really ruined our stay. The annoyance came when we checked in and were told "we are critically low on room keys, so we can only give you one". Ever hear that line before? This is my 131st Yelp hotel review, and I never heard that one before. The near ruination of our stay happened Saturday morning when we wanted to shower before breakfast. Well, we let the water run for a good fifteen minutes and it was literally ice cold, I'm not joking it was FREEZING COLD. I called the front desk and asked if there was something wrong with the hot water and was told "that happens sometimes when we are sold out, just let it run and it should get better". Well, we waited a few more minutes with no change and gave up in flabbergasted frustration. When we met the rest of our breakfast crew in the lobby, I went to the front desk and reported the hot water failure for a second time. They wrote down my name, took down the room number, and said maintenance hadn't arrived yet, but they would check on things when they did. By the time we left the next day, we were still waiting to hear from maintenance. Now in all fairness, our early morning Sunday shower was fine, but by that time the customer service damage had been done. And that really was a shame because I liked everything else about the hotel. Our room was big and comfy, the HVAC and Wi-Fi worked great, the flat screen TV was excellent, the business center had two desktops and two printers and worked great, and the bed was comfy. The bar and bartenders were wonderful, and the food and service for our banquet dinner was fine. The location was very good too, right across the street from the West Acres mall and plenty of walking distance restaurants. The hotel's most unique feature is a huge water park/swimming pool that was always crowded with families and party groups. My group had two little ones with us, and they adored the pool. But our inability to use our room shower and the disappointing follow-up service really torpedoed my experience. Yelp's description of a two-star review is "could've been better". That seems appropriate here. Our room rate totaled $285 after taxes for two nights.
