My father in law got tickets online for the odyssey and preordered $50 worth of food, when they got to the theater the power was out. Okay understandable things happen. They handed out vouchers for everyone due to the outage. They left with nothing but passes but NOW the passes aren't even valid for the movie they originally went to go see. We saw a movie in the "Ultrascreen DLX", Marcus advertised this as "a huge screen with Dreamlounger recliners" all this was true, the problem they do not warn about the decibels of the sound system. I am a mother of 4 kids and my youngest is 10 months old. My husband and I have our own company and we are dedicated parents so we don't do date nights very often. This morning my husband surprised me and said he was taking the day off to take me to see Gladiator. I was excited and we headed out. When we got to THIS theater NICK said we couldn't allow the baby to go in with us. WHAT?! I had planned it out so it would be her nap time during the movie. I can't tell you how many times I have seen kids and babies in rated R movies. We are talking about a 10 month old who won't even know what the plot of the movie is! A baby SHOULD be allowed to go to any movie with her PARENTS. The 1 star review is for the manager Nick. The concessions are average just like any other theatre. Not in the best location of Elgin and did not feel very safe. The theater lobby is awkward. Have to walk around tables and chairs to buy tickets at a counter in the corner of the room. Don't get me started with the snack counter. First of all almost every theater lobby has the butter stations and salt against a wall in the lobby so you can butter your popcorn the way you want it buttered and salt to your taste. The clowns at the snack counter barely butter your popcorn and shake a salt shaker maybe once over the top. The popcorn had no flavor and my husband had to take it back to the counter and make them add more butter. Of course only the top layer had anything on it. Popcorn is an integral part of going to the movies and Marcus Elgin Fox fails miserably. We will never go to a movie there again. read more

I have to say, I love any movie theater that has the padded recliner seats. Don't know why movie theaters didn't do this years ago. I had a great afternoon watching maleficent at this theater in the dream loungers. They have every food and drink option available. We got popcorn, nachos, icee's, and pretzel bites. They were all fresh and we enjoyed everything. I'm not saying the food is affordable lmao I'm just saying it's good it's not over the top expensive but it's typical movie theater prices which is not cheap. 10$ for nachos 10$ pretzel bites, 4$ for candy, the icees were 4$ a piece I think. This is my family's go-to theater. Very comfortable seats and you can grab some beer or wine to enjoy the show. They also have some hot food there...pretzel bites, pizza, etc. While ticket prices are fair, it is your normal high expense theater when it comes to candy, popcorn and drinks. Soft drinks will run you $6 or more. Still, it's kelp very clean and the reclining chairs are very comfortable. read more

We think the prices are reasonable and competitive, especially on Tuesdays for $5. Great food choices available through the cafe, as well as ordinary "movie" options such as popcorn. Cleanliness keeps this from being 5 stars - both in the theaters and in the restrooms. Lots of people coming and going, so lots of trash. I really enjoy this theater and I've only had one bad experience on a $5 Tuesday with people taking younger kids or teenagers showing up( 10-14 years old) to see Godzilla and the kids either talking the entire time or on their phones taking selfies mid film. Outside of that I've had a good experience and the reclining chairs are great (that's why their prices went up a dollar or so...duh). This theater has been remodeled and they do improve much with the new look. As we all love their recliner chairs, it's just as comfy as sitting in my living room but with ultra big screen and much better speakers! Love it! Down side though, they could do better in cleaning especially around the big recliner chairs. I know it's not easy since people might come in with horrible manners and throw their food and garbage all over, but seeing those old popcorn stuck in the gap when you recline the chair, it does affect how comfortable you feel in general. If you want the best seats on a Tuesday, plan to reserve them a week before. I highly suggest you become a member. They have a station with cards already there and all you have to do is spend a couple minutes signing up and you get your card on the spot. You get a large popcorn for only $4 vs. the normal $8 price. So it's def worth your time. The seats are extra comfy. Our movie was playing in their "ultra screen" theater. The auditorium is gigantic! It can seat 300 people so you can just imagine how big the screen was. My experience was great, the only thing I wish was that we reserved our seats earlier in advance. While the sound and picture were mostly great, security and or management lacking. The side doors off the "ultra" section had people inside letting others outside sneak in. Throughout the 7:30 Bond show, people were throwing ice and drinks from the upper rows down on everyone including hitting a kid in the head then rushing out the upper side exit before returning to repeat as well as shouting 'intimate sounds'. So my mother hasn't been to the movies since the 80's. Yes, you read that correctly...she thinks it was 1987 the last time she was at the movies. My favorite aunt was in town visiting over the thanksgiving holiday this past November and we spent a Saturday afternoon together. We decided to go to the movies for an afternoon of fun and fun, it was! We jumped online and found Last Vegas was playing here at a time that worked well for us after shopping, so this was our theater of choice! Location also worked well for us being that we were in the Carpentersville area. The theater itself is quite old. Its quite a bit dated but it definitely has charm. The snacks were stupid overpriced. Maybe this is why we don't go to the movies anymore?? Not only is it a million dollars to get in to a movie but if you want a snack it'll cost you even more than your ticket and you can't go to a movie and skip the popcorn, so they get me every time! They were kind enough to accommodate my aunt's request to butter the popcorn in layers so that earned them an extra star from me. They also have these "cafeteria" style trays you can carry your snacks on to the theater and it even fits in the cup holder and serves as a small table. Its not perfectly level so it was not perfect but it did the job. My one complaint about the snacks was that the pretzel bites we got were waaaaay chewy. Learned my lesson trying something new. Our feature presentation was shown in the SMALLEST theater I have ever seen. You could probably seat 30 people in there at most! I was pleased because it seemed we were less likely to have a huge crowd of people to trip over so that was a plus! The movie was awesome. One of the kids working there was kind enough to take a photo of us next to the movie poster. The bathrooms were pretty clean for a movie theater. I was overall pleased for what it was and I was excited to be at the movies with my mom for the first time in my life! I hope she enjoyed it. read more

The staff is very friendly and helpful, the food is good (with the exception of the popcorn which has a bit of a stale taste even after being freshly popped), beer/ wine is available and seating consists of the comfy 2 seat recliners that allow you to raise the armrest. Suggest joining the Marcus rewards program, which quickly accumulates $$ credits toward in-theater purchases (e.g. food) and using the online movie ticket purchase which uses Fandango allowing you to skip the line and get the tickets at one of the kiosks at the entrance with the credit card or confirmation number from the online order. read more

I won't even give this a star....after spending money for alcohol (2 beers) and popcorn and candy...my husband went back for another beer without me. He was told they can only sell him 1 without a 2nd ID. Then he went back for the other beer and was told he could only get the smaller beer unless he bought food. Wtf is that? There's 2 of us and we bought food! Now you want us to buy more food and for both of us to muss a part of the movie to come out and each get our own. There is no signage saying that anywhere near the bar area. Not to mention, the "lounge seating" they have is all town to shreds inside the theater, their workers wore their masks around their chins and were basically standing in front of the entrances to the theaters chit chatting it up blocking you from getting to your show. This theater is the closest one to our house, so it's the one we visit most often. We've never had any problems (aside from once, the theater we were in was really hot!), other than annoying patrons (really, is it that hard to NOT kick/hit/whack the seat in front of you?). We enjoy their summer kid flicks for the special price (I've only been lucky enough to go a couple times, other than that I've missed out due to work obligations, but my kids get to go with Grandma & Grandpa). Loving the changes to Marcus Theatre. My 4.5 yo has permanent ants in his pants, it's really intense. Going to the movies with him is typically a nightmare. He's loud, asks 100 ?s in a 90 minute movie and squirms the whole time. These new seats have provided him such a distraction, we may no longer be the most annoying people in the theatre! He loves to lay back, and sit back up and then lay back again :-) On top of the cool new seats 1) the Kids Summer Series is a great bargain, even at $3/ticket up from $1. 5) $5 Tuesdays are awesome, just go earlier, it's PACKED after 5. 3) I don't love Pepsi, but their fountains are on par with McDs...lots of carbonation which helps the Pepsi taste. 4) I want to try the new restaurant...some day. 5) make sure you get the Magical Rewards card. It's free and I get some great promos. The big negative is the cost of tickets without a promo. $10.50 on a Fri/Sat night! We saw Minions at 9:20am on a Saturday and it was $15.75 for two tickets. Really? Over $7 matinee prices, it's still Elgin, I say that and I live here. It's just a very high ticket price. We will keep it to promotional times in the future. read more

We attended the Angel.com presentation of Life after Death Friday 10/27 at 111 Randall Road, Elgin IL. It was a great presentation, however the theater SOUND was too loud. We complained to the manager after we left presentation. He was unreceptive and rude. He said no one else complained, We use a standard sound setting of 5. I said the reason no one else complained was because they would get the same treatment we received. I said if we are telling you the setting is too loud, you should check it and change it accordingly. This is not acceptable and we will write to the head of the company and in all the reviews. We have attended many times and never had it this loud. What kind of professionalism is this to say, "you are the only ones that complained." I would have said, "I'm sorry you had a bad experience. I have to say that I come here quite often, and that I always enjoyed Marcus even before they did the seating changes and renovations. There is something special about the way this place is run, which makes it feel homey and family oriented. I do appreciate the small restaurant you can order food and even get a beer from. The food from Zaffiro's is always piping hot amd tastes amazing. I like that there are a lot of options (sometimes I wish they sold a smoothie) My personal favorite is the loaded beef nachos. The staff at this restaurant and especially the cashier are always extremely pleasant and you can tell they like their jobs (and more specifically working together). Some of the other ticket checkers and staff can be antisocial or rude. I would never use dirty to describe Marcus, but some days it can be pretty messy in the theaters and the bathrooms. I don't see them waiting to come in and clean all the garbage or popcorn after a movie is over. I do love their seats, they are comfortable and recline so far. There is no other better location for a theater in Elgin. And $5 nights on tuesday, and thursday for students. So bring your blanket, grab a beer and kick back. read more

Nice big cushy seats that recline! Great sound system. Add in their friendly staff and clean concessions area and restrooms and this a great place to catch a flick. They sometimes show classic movies and older animated films as well which is nice. We've never actually had any food here so I can't speak to the quality of the food from the concessions but it always looks pretty clean & tidy in that area. read more

My wife and I where in the theater tonight. When the person in front of us spent the first 40 minutes of the movie texting and taking pics of the screen. I finally tapped on his chair and asked him to stop or I would get the manager. He continued to text then walked out of the theater. Moments later the assistant manager comes in and starts scolding me for saying something to the young man. She said I was in the wrong for saying something! She agreed what he was doing was against their policy but yet continued to scold me! I proceed to leave and speak with the main manager he didn't agree with what his assistant did. While I like the theater itself, it's annoying that the sign for Zaffiro's express says that it opens at 11am - yet there's absolutely no one there yet at 11:30am, and the employees currently working have no idea about when it will open. Some said noon, others had no idea. There is no time listed on the website. If the sign is wrong, change it. If it's not wrong, get employees on the same page about opening times. My husband and I used to come here all the time for movies until they raised up their prices. We found theaters cheaper than this one so we don't come here anymore. However, the reclining seats are awesome! Popcorn, candies and food are okay and overpriced. Service is there if you ask for it.
