(When I was younger my family convinced me that the parade going past my house was my birthday parade hahaha) Anyway, this year is the year I have been waiting for: I turn 21 and I get to celebrate responsibly at the fest. No need to worry about driving home, because I can just walk! With all the delicious food at the taste of schaumburg, and the fantastic selection of alcoholic beverages, I know I will be pleased. I really enjoy how organizations and business' in the community can have booths here, it is a great way to meet people in the community and try something new. I also like how organizations can serve food from specific vendors for a day, to save some of the profit for their organization. I have fond memories of being in the Indian princess program with the YMCA and participating in that aspect of the fest. Another fun thing is the parade! It has ran past my house since I was very little, so I have been both a spectator and part of it. I think its a great way for the community to come together. Septemberfest is just a really great time for families. It makes me love my town so much more.

There was a lot of typical carnival eats as well as taco trucks. Fest is free to walk around. If not staying to watch the music or ride the carnival rides an hour or so is plenty.

I am able bodied and had to walk around the entire block to find the entrance, after running into a dead end by the sound stage; and being thwarted from multiple alley entrances that were not designated as off limits to the public. By the time I finally found the entrance, it made me think, what if I were disabled or using a walker? That would have been ten times as difficult. When I finally did find the entrance, they informed me that it was $10 per person just to enter the containment area, at that point I was over it. Mind you, there are no other alcoholic beverages sold outside of the containment area, unless of course you pop into one of the local bars. Not everyone, but I also noticed that some vendors would only accept cash. There were some reasonable food options, but overheard one vendor quote $18 for a brat?!?! Corn Fest may have just jumped the shark.

There are not as many scarecrows as in past years, and they are no longer displayed in the park. They are scattered around town in front of stores and restaurants. The craft fair was half the size it was in the past. In the past the vendors would be from all over the state, many were selling bought items. Wish we would have gone on Saturday, but Sunday was a good experience too, albeit probably a bit more mellow as things were winding down. There were many exhibits featuring a multicultural casts of characters, horses galore, live bands, and dogs were welcome and being walked about the grounds. The junk food was abundant and delicious (in moderate quantities, of course). I would recommend bringing the kids next summer and wearing a pair of shoes you're not afraid will get dusty. Wish they would advertise this event more as I'm sure many more folks would attend!

They have a bag check before entry and you can bring 1 sealed water bottle per person. Otherwise, no other outside food/beverage allowed (excluding baby food - see website for details). I was underwhelmed with the ribs this year. They weren't as good as previous years and only one of ribs we got from a vendor was hot/warm. The others were cold.. Parking: free to park in the covered parking lot. Paid parking is available closer to the entrance but honestly not a huge difference as far as walking. I'd recommend parking at the covered lot vs paying if you get there early enough to find spots Admission: there is a $5 admission fee this year (2023), which is new compared to previous years. I'd recommend purchasing it online so you can avoid any extra lines. Washrooms: They don't have nice indoor bathrooms here but do have porter potties available throughout the Ribfest. They also have water and soap outside of the porter potty to wash your hands. Food: Blazin Bronco BBQ - not recommended 3 Bone Sampler: the ribs tasted okay and was cold, not a favorite and the ribs weren't fully off the bone. Coleslaw: the worst coleslaw I've had...not sure if it went bad or something but definitely didn't taste right. Wouldn't recommend. -- Armadillo's BBQ - it's okay 1/3 slab: the ribs were cooked more off the bone but not as warm but off the bone Baked beans: tasty and came out hot -- Texas Outlaw BBQ - good 1/4 rack ($15) - good amount of ribs for sharing..ribs came out warm Coleslaw ($3) - It tasted like normal coleslaw, nothing too special but refreshing to eating with ribs.
