Highlights: This is a great option for a private dinner. We did it for New Year's Eve and it was perfect to not have to travel or cook. The food was nice and flavorful. Chef Ray and Emily did a great job communicating; Ray was actually considerably early for our reservation, which wasn't an issue but I could see it being more of one if we had a larger group. Lowlights: This was likely just an oversight, but the Chef did not ask us what temp we wanted our filets cooked, resulting in the meat being slightly overdone to our liking. The protein portions were, in our opinion, rather light, especially compared to a sit-down hibachi restaurant. On the flip side though, we all ordered extra fried rice and had a ton left over. The flavor of the rice and salad was top-notch. While we had no ill effects, I have to say we were a little put off by the cleanliness levels of both the grill and the cooler the Chef brought the pre-prepped food in. It brought up some questions as to how the food was prepared beforehand and whether it adhered to proper safety and hygiene standards. The grill also could have used a good clean. Like I said, we had no ill effects from the food but the sight of the dirty cooler, etc was rather off-putting. Overall, I think we'd use Let's Hibachi again, and the more people you have, the better priced it is!

Everything was delicious! We had Pomes Fruit and Citrus Salad, Housin-Braised Beef Short Ribs, Matcha Crème brûlée. The hosts purchased lechon (a roast pig) which was not part of the catering package, and the caterers offered to cut and serve it. Very cool! I highly recommend this caterer/personal chef. We found him on yelp and loved his reviews and also loved how unique his menu was as it had Korean and Chinese fusion which was so perfect for our wedding. The food is absolutely incredible and we literally got so many compliments from our guests saying the food was the best food they've ever had at any wedding. Chef ken was also very helpful in helping us pick out the dish wear and arranged all of the rental dishware which made the process easy. The only problems we had with Chef Ken was that he can often be non-responsive and difficult to get in touch with through email. He's definitely busy and has multiple private events going on but at times we had to really hunt him down. It was difficult also because his secretary went on vacation around the time of the wedding so I think he was managing everything on his own. Also, I would also get everything written in bullet points for Chef Ken as he's definitely busy and it's easy for him to forget things we agreed on such as quantity of amount of certain dishes, rental numbers, types of food we ordered, deduction of the initial taste testing, etc. Small things but it changes the overall invoice and required a bunch of redoing of the invoices. He also said he would help us come up with a custom drink menu for our wedding which we ended up scrambling at the end to make our own menu. Again, I think there was just too much for Chef Ken to do on his own without extra help. Overall though, the wedding day went extremely smoothly with no issues. The staff he hired was solid and exceptional. The bartenders were awesome and fun. The food including the entrees, dessert and appetizers were amazing and it was unanimous from the guests that the food at our wedding was by far the best from any other wedding they've been to. Highlights was everyone loves the Miso Chilean Sea bass, Korean Street Tacos, Poke Tacos and the Tomahawk steak. My personal favorite was the Garlic Noodles!

Then I found Brigitte and White Apron. Brigitte's sent me a great intake questionnaire that went through what I liked, what I didn't--down to specific foods and ingredients. Brigitte and Collin then created meals catered to my tastes and calorie goals (paleo, ~700 calories/meal). Every week, I'd send in feedback on that week's food and we'd tweak things further (eg, cook asparagus in a certain way, no on specific spices, etc). Such a far cry from the on-demand food startups! The thing I loved the most about White Apron is the personal attention I got from the chefs about my likes, dislikes, and suggestions. They're extremely receptive to everything and crafted meals just for my tastes. If you're looking for a personal chef in San Francisco, I highly recommend White Apron.

Brigitte made a simple but well seasoned salad of fresh organic veggies and mixed herbs. This was complimented by a hearty, soul-warming lamb curry. I was delighted by her take on the curry. The meat was fork-tender and the spices were complex and savory but not overwhelming. We finished up with a playful make-your-own sundae and relaxed with happy full bellies. I'd have Brigitte over to cook for me any time!

What attracted us to Jane's meal service versus others: * Cheap - $30 for dinner for 2. That's it. No delivery surcharge. No extra hidden costs for food. That's less than our typical take-out order. * Vegetarian - (In fact, there's no eggs or dairy in the food, either, so this could possibly be vegan?) I find it labor-intensive to make vegetarian food interesting, so it's great to have someone else make a healthy meal for us. * Variety - it's not just, you know, tofu stir-frys and vegetarian lasagna. Her menus are global: Mediterranean, Asian, African, Mexican, French, etc. * Flexible - no long-term commitment. You just need to call Jane the day before you'd like a delivery. * Jane - she's super nice on the phone! The first meal we had from Jane was delicious and we'll definitely try her service again in the future.
