It has always been our go-to. This past Sunday, our experience was deeply disappointing and frankly unlike anything we have encountered here before. We ordered two pizzas and salads. The margherita pizza -- which my parents had ordered just one week prior without any issues -- arrived completely different. It had an additional cheese layered beneath the fresh mozzarella that was overcooked and almost burnt. The crust on both pizzas was so hard it could not be folded (anyone from the East Coast knows you fold your pizza), and my son was unable to cut through it with a knife and fork. It was inedible. We sent both pizzas back. The server returned and offered to remake only one, insisting the second was fine. It was not. When we pointed out that the margherita is traditionally just fresh mozzarella, tomato sauce, and basil -- and that this was not what was served -- we were told "this is how we do it." We have been ordering this pizza for seven years. It was not how they do it. The one pizza that was remade came back only marginally better. We did not ask again. From that point, our table was completely abandoned. Every glass at our table was empty. Not the server, not a busser, not a single person passing by stopped to offer water or check on us. My father eventually had to go inside to find someone. My son had to walk to our car in the parking lot to retrieve his water bottle, and I went to my car to get a sparkling water I happened to have in the cup holder. That is how thirsty we were and how little attention our table received. The indifference started even before the food arrived. When we declined cocktails and handed back the drink list, letting the server know we would all just be having water, the reaction was visibly dismissive and unwelcoming -- not the kind of response anyone expects when simply choosing not to order alcohol. The hostess, as has been the case on prior visits, was visibly disgruntled and unwelcoming. We understand that Sunday service is busy. We were patient and did not make a scene. We simply wanted food that was edible and basic attentiveness as paying customers. Neither was provided. My mother, who has been one of their most consistent regulars, left saying she did not want to return. That says everything. For a restaurant that benefits enormously from a captive local audience and steady tourist traffic, this level of disregard for loyal, long-term customers is disappointing. We hope management takes this feedback seriously.

Once you see it, a large mural of an Italian pizza maker holding up NY with the Italian flag splashed in the background, you know you've arrived. We were greeted even before we reached the door and offered a choice of dining inside or outdoors. They have a large outdoor area that is shielded from the parking lot, nice, but we opted to sit inside for some a/c. Our server was right over and got us started with drinks while we looked over the menu. She was so nice, attentive, helpful, and upbeat for the entire time we were there, a real pleasure. As for the food, we decided to split their Greek Salad and a Prosciutto Arugula 12" pizza. They offer both 12 and 18" pies. This was not the pizza I would have selected, I'm more a Meat Lovers Supreme carnivore, but it was my wife's choice tonight. I thought the salad was pretty standard, lots of Feta cheese and a generous amount of dressing in a container. My wife left me all the red onion slivers, maybe not her best decision, and took almost all of the olives. The salad was still fine, lots of green. Our pizza was also brightly green, what with all the arugula on top. Like more salad. But underneath was an excellent pizza crust, like they describe on their menu with a bit of NY char. While I missed all the greasy meat, the prosciutto was very flavorful, a top of the line ingredient. A hint of truffle oil added to the mix and pieces of a hard Parmesan cheese (Parmigiano Reggiano) added more. I have to admit, it was a pretty good pizza.
