The supermarket may not scream cleanliness or organization. Don't let that scare you away from exploring it at least once! The variety of fruits and vegetables, which includes many unknown and mysterious ones is simply amazing. Everything is always ripe, fresh and most of all tasty. Upon walking through each section, you'll be amazed by the large variety of international products. Yes, mostly Asian ones, but tucked in between is many Spanish or Indian products. The staff may not seem the warmest or friendliest, yet they are very helpful and kind. You ask with such lovely review of mine why only four stars? Simply and only because the isles are often crowded with unpacked boxes. The carts are placed else where and in the way. read more

***BUGS***BUGS***BUGS*** This place is horrible, this dirty place sold us 100's of bugs in our bag of rice we bought. We purchased this bag of rice before the Christmas holidays and by the first week of January our condo was full of bugs, thousands of bugs that grew from within the bag of rice, they were everywhere and in ever room throughout our entire place, literally everywhere the eye could see, a complete infestation. This is by far is the most horrible experience we have ever had from a grocery store. We had been buying from this store for many years and insult after injury the management, (2 managers, one the cashier the other an unidentified man) they just insisted we did not buy the bag of rice from them initially (Marche Sheng Tai), then insisted on a receipt (who keeps a receipt for groceries???) the bag of rice even had their cashier sticker on it (as seen in pictures), long story short they would not even replace the bag of rice! The clean up in our home took days and cost hundreds. Who would bring a bug infested bag of rice back to the wrong store, just completely stupid and ridiculous but really so ignorant that in the end they would rather loose a long time customer that spends hundreds of dollars each time than to simply replace the bug infested bag of rice (we only wanted a simple apology and a new bag of rice). Consumer beware, this is the DIRTIEST grocery store on the West Island. Also be it known that the fish and meat departments are quite disgusting, just stand back and watch and see for yourself how unsanitary this place is and how they operates and you will never shop there again. Quite honestly this place is a hotplate for all kinds of disease!!! We only ever bought dry goods at Marche Sheng Tai but obviously that did not keep us safe from substandard cleanliness. read more

This store opened in spring or summer of 2014, and I believe is a sister store to Marche Fu Tai in Cote des Neiges. Sheng Tai is an Asian store that carries a large selection of economically-priced grocery items. I pick up all of my staples here: fresh rice noodles, Chinese veggies, dried shitake mushrooms, sweet rice, dumpling wrappers, azuki beans, fresh tofu, Asian sauces, and the like. On the downside, their bakery section is somewhat lacking; I still have to go to Chinatown for baked goods and steamed buns. There is a prepared hot food section at the rear of the store that is also inexpensive. You can buy a package (15) of fried dumplings or spring roll appetizers for $4, as well as combination plates including stirfried meat or veggies, noodles and/or fried rice for less than $8. A very filling and cheap lunch option, in my opinion. All in all, a convenient addition to the west island. There is ample parking in the lot, and you can use the provided wheeled baskets free, otherwise use of a traditional grocery cart is $1 (refundable upon return). I will be returning frequently to shop for Asian grocery items here. read more

This store has a wide selection of Asian products at reasonable prices. But I don't trust the meat and seafood. Sometimes they aren't fresh and taste like they've been marinating in bleach. The hot food doesn't taste fresh on weekdays either but they have good specials on some dishes. The hot food tastes a lot fresher on weekends. I also don't like that they don't label their buns properly so you don't know what flavor you're going to end up with. I once asked a bakery employee about the buns and she couldn't understand or speak a word of English. So don't expect any customer service here. read more

Won't shop here again. Its not worth the bad service, the bad smells and the generally unclean feeling you get in this place. Here's the final straw: Adonis down the street was out of fresh (not frozen) mackerel so I went to Sheng Tai which also has a wide fish selection even if its self-serve and most of the fish is frozen and you have to pay extra to have it cleaned. After walking through the Sheng Tai produce department which smelled like rotten meat, I picked up my frozen mackerel, a watermelon and two boxes of blueberries which were on sale and got in one of the very long lines at the checkout. When I finally got to the cash the bill came to $8.85. I had no cash and wanted to pay by debit but I was told that there was a $10 minimum. I said, that if they enforced that rule, I would either have to go pick something else out and make the people now assembled behind me wait or I would then have to go and come back and wait for another ten minutes so couldn't she just bend the rules. She said no. I pleaded with her some more but she refused. I just left the fish and fruit there and took off back to Adonis where the workers are helpful and polite, where the place is odor free and clean and the friendly fish guys will gut your fish for free. read more

The problem is not the food, their food is ok, it's the customer service that is terrible. I was shouted at today by the cashier and showed no respect. I was trying to communicate with her, instead she called the manager over and both of them verbally attacked me. All over a watermelon! I sensed there was something else bothering her and I was the punching bag at that moment. Regardless, TERRIBLE customer service. This is not the first time, but this WILL be our last time visiting this place. Very unsatisfied and speechless. read more

NOT so fresh fish since they had bathed my skate wing in bleach ! A very old and filthy activity that had for a time at least, been irradicated from the supermarkets. After rinsing the fish 3 times I still could not get the stench of bleach off. No wonder it was on sale. I was going to return it for refund but it would have been futile to find anyone who speaks english at the Dollard store. If they are willing to stoop that low to save a buck it makes you wonder what else there doing in the back of that store. Bleached beef, chicken, pork anyone? read more

Be careful to read the stale date on the products. Though some are stale-dated, they remain available for sale. As an example, I was in the store on April 22/17 and April 25/17. On both occasions Schneider's Sliced Salami and Bologna were being offered for sale with a "Sell before Date" of April 20/17. Also, every time we are at the fish market, the staff is very rude and uncooperative. Moreover, credit cards are only accepted with a minimum sale of $10.00. Lastly, the prices are not competitive on most items with few exceptions. read more

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER !!! If you can please do not go there. Customer service is 0/10. They do not know how to talk to customers. Today is June 12, 2018. I went there to buy ONE specific item. The were supposed to close at 8 PM and I got there at 7:48 PM. The Guy at the front talked as I was a worthless customer in front of cashiers and others customers. He said to no enter as they were already closed. On the top of that, before going there, I called and the lady at the phone told they were supposed to close at 8:00 PM. The guy shouted at me like I was a dog. I said that It was the last time He saw my face, he replied : I don't mind !!!! Disgusting . Tomorrow I am going to call consumer protection to report them. I mean they are disrespectful, no manners. They will never be a big chain company as Costco. They are too miserable. read more

Customer services at Sheng Tai Marché is the nadir. I bought coconut at this store, on arriving home I discovered it was plain rotten. I went back there some fifteen minutes later and the cashier who claimed to be the manager told me point blanc she wasn't going to do nothing about it. This actually took place on Wednesday, April 5, 2017, at about 5:30 pm. The cashier was At cash 3. Even though I had the product at hand, the cashiers still arqued vehemently that it wasn't rotten enough. They went ahead making a fool of me in the presence of other clients, asking me to return the water that was inside to the extent of telling me to " shut up, you fool. I will call the police on you." I left the store baffled. As a Canadian, I can guarantee, I have never witness such poor customer service any where prior. When I got home I called the store to see if I could speak to the manager, but was again redirected to the same lady who did not hesitate to hang up on me. I felt more than humiliated just for doing what every ordinary customer would do. I have tried contacting consumer protection but the office was closed. I will definitely do so first thing in the morning. To live or do business in this country, people should be conscious of the values we uphold; mutual respect being one of them. This grocery store has many items to choose from at the takeout counter at the back with noodle, rice or tofu dishes to choose from for easy lunch or supper meals. There are a lot of fresh fish and chicken available as well as frozen dumplings and pot-stickers. Lots of vegetables at great prices. The only drawback is fresh pastries would be a fabulous idea for this all around great store. read more
