a variety of fruits and vegetables

This small shop is a great option for those who live on Redpath/Roehampton but didnt want to go to Loblaws. While they have a smaller selection, everything was nice and fresh, and price is competitive. I usually shop for vegetables here. Other good buys include the cooked food for lunch and the soup of the day. They also stock wide baking sheets, which I love since i bake a lot of bread. There's also a coffee/pastry corner but not something extraordinary. Service has been consistently helpful and warm. They even replaced a pack of flour that went rancid :)

Fresh food station - sandwiches, sushi, pizza

Walking through the east Don trails, at the end I came across this supermarket. Never seen it before (it's at the back of the little plaza with Timmies in it, and I've never gone on that side before) so of course I decided to check it out. I like interesting grocery stores - you always find unique items. Yes I know I'm weird. I like to look at grocery store products! It's a Mediterranean store, lots of vegetarian and vegan options. Lots of brands I never heard of before - which is awesome! They have a wine/beer/flower section in the front (a little off to the side, in its own area) and in front there is a coffee/cafe section! There is a hot food station where you pay by weight,, and also a fresh made section (sushi, sandwiches, pizza). A little station at the end is Kareem's - Indian food to go! I was duly impressed with the interesting offerings - cheeses, gelatos, breads, vegan pastas, etc. Of course, most items aren't cheap so I wouldn't do every day shopping here, but for a few unique items it's definitely a great choice! I picked up some organic kale and basil pesto, baguette (they have smaller size ones that perfect for 2 days), and some hot food. I really wanted to mango pineapple sorbet, but since I walked, it would have melted by the time I got home.

    bananas and apples

During the Covid 19 epidemic, Ontario's Doug Ford denounces grocery stores Price gouging. Marchelo's does not seem to care. Marcheleo's Gourmet Marketplace, Wynford Drive, is currently selling Bananas for $1.29/lb where as The Superstore on Wynford Drive and Eglington Bananas are selling for $0.57/lb. When I asked to speak with a manager, I was directed to a gentleman who identified himself as the manager of the store. I proceeded to ask as to why the price of bananas as overpriced. I was told I don't know what the regular prices are and the man repeatedly call me an idiot and I was asked to leave the store. When I was outside the store, someone threatened me not to post anything online.

During the warmer months, the outside display of plants and flowers lures people in. Once inside, their very neatly array of seasonal fruits and veg lead the way to their glassed in flower room at the back. This room contains some of the biggest and most gorgeous sunflowers that I have ever seen. Unlike most flower shops, Passion Fruits does not deliver. You can however, call ahead and get them to create a bouquet for you. My recommendation, pop in. See whats lookin fine and grab your daily 8 servings of fruits and veg while they package up your flowers (in whatever arrangement you want) while you wait. This place is spotless, very well organized (you can even pick up some olive oils and bulk items too). The soothing jazz plays while you decide on what to leave, not what to buy. If you are in the neighbourhood, grab your produce here, go across the street to Epi breads and grab a chocolate almond croissant. All, an excellent treat! And that sign points to a true midtown institution: a warm, old-school Italian shop brimming with tempting cheeses, cured meats, and all sorts of intriguing groceries. But let's be honest--like many people, I come for the sandwiches. My husband likes to mix it up, but I'm forever loyal to the house special: shaved prosciutto and spicy salami, buffalo mozzarella, hot peppers, fig jam, sliced tomatoes, finished with balsamic and olive oil. You walk in, choose your bread (ciabatta, naturalmente), and they hand it over tutto pronto. It's a big, bold, mamma mia of a sandwich--and I absolutely love that mix of flavours. Molto bello!

La Salumeria's house special layers various kinds of deli meat, cheese, hot pepper pickles, tomato slices, and fig jam onto your choice of bread, and each mouthful bursts with a combination of flavours. Spicy, salty, sweet...! Just perfect. One sandwich usually lasts me 2 meals. I love looking around the store while waiting for my sandwich to be ready. There's a variety of deli meats, cheeses, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, spreads, etc. All neatly displayed and clearly labeled. It's nice to see a store that feels like a true neighbourhood mom & pop shop, with Carlo the owner recognizing regulars and exchanging friendly banter. Feels cozy While I am not a regular, he's still quite friendly.
