After waiting more than 20 minutes after ordering we finally receive 2 out of 3 of our plates. We were here for lunch so the wait was unacceptable. After another 5 minutes the third plate arrived. The table we were sat at was dirty. We had to brush of the cheese before we ordered. The server was not attentive. However he was polite. The seafood ravioli was just about flavorless. It had no seafood flavor at all. The filling resembled Stove Top stuffing that was pre-chewed. It was bad enough I sent it back. The meat lasagna could have been eaten by someone without teeth. It was mushy but was edible, mostly because I was hungry. The chicken parm sandwich was the best of the three. This is the one that didn't arrive with the other two. Even though that's not saying much. It was the first chicken parm I ever seen that wasn't breaded. All it had was sliced chicken, marinara sauce, and some melted mozzarella. There was nothing on it that even resembled parmesan, by looks or taste. However the chicken was tender. Then we had to wait for the ticket. We waited long enough for me to write this review. Marchello's is the BEST Italian food in Wichita! It's relatively small and in a kind of weird neighborhood. But what makes it special is the food and the fact that Mickey, the owner, is nearly always there. He will always do everything he can to ensure you've got everything you need and you're enjoying his meal. His kids are often there and will do the same! There is a full menu--and I mean full! Pastas of every kind, delicious salads, tasty appetizers and awesome pizzas and calzones. It's always so difficult to decide what to order! If it's your first visit, definitely get something with the marinara sauce. It is the best I've ever had! The alfredo is really good, too. Start out with the spinach & artichoke dip. It's my favorite anywhere! I don't know if they make it there or if they buy it from someone, but their Italian dressing is brilliant! Just like traditional Italian fare, this review will be a hearty, hardy handful of delicious love. Just like a stereotyped Italian, this review will be blunt without apologies. The salad bar is fine - there's a traditional assortment of spring mix, croutons and a bunch of dressings. The Italian dressing is magical. Sure, it sort of tastes like traditional-American Italian dressing (think Kraft), but then there's something else...something indefinable that makes you know a big bunch of amore was put into that brewing pot. But the love doesn't stop there: though the ravioli and eggplant rotolini tasted suspiciously similar, though one was obviously made with pasta and the other with a fruit, the red sauce smothered atop each made it not matter. Usually I'm more of a carbonara, olive-oil and parmesan girl - I used to (still do) request that Pizza Hut deliver my cheese pizza sans sauce - but Marchello's marinara is rave worthy. It's lightly sweet, beautifully fragrant and exudes a mild splash of basil, parsley and other herbs. As for dessert, the brownies have nuts in them, though the menu doesn't specify this is the case...which was fine, because the waitress returned the allergen-laden dessert, and offered a cannoli with no pistachios instead. The filling was cloud-fluffy, just sweet enough to not taste like cheese, and the chocolate sprinkles were a cute American touch. Home style? For sure. Authentic? Not so much as original, Oh, and the Spinach and Artichoke dip is creamy, super thick, super delicious, but not as wildly artery clogging as you would assume it would taste. This is some of the most flavorful Italian food in Wichita. I got a dish with angel hair pasta, sundried tomatoes, shrimp and a cream sauce. Oh man! This dish was full of flavor. Everything on our table was creamy and rich and tasted like it was made with real ingredients, nothing like the overprocessed food in some chain restaurants. There is a small salad bar where you build your own salad, which offers something to do while you wait on your food. The service was friendly, a little slow but it was a Friday night and they had one server on. The location is a little weird and it's right next to a CiCi's but the atmosphere between the two couldn't be more different. It's a casual, intimate setting with low lighting, perfect for a low-key first date. The only complaint I have is that it's such a long drive for me to get there! I have visited this lovely little bistro for numerous reasons: lunch meetings, dinner get togethers, dates (okay, date), and just good Italian cuisine. Their seafood is lovely, because the servers are one the ball. They get your food out fast, before it sits under a lamp. Calamari needs to be fresh and still hot for optimal enjoyment. The younger staff seems to panic slightly, so I am glad when I get my usual seasoned server. She never misses a beat. She knows the menu well and is aware of the best specials going on. Arrived Saturday evening party of two. First time visit. Had heard from others that Marchello's was similar to DeFazio's located at 25th Street North and Amidan. Well, it was not a disappointment. Walked in to an aged atmosphere of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Tony Bennett Italian songs promoting an east coast old Italian setting. My significant other had the spaghetti with marinara which was topped with mozzarella and sausage and I had linguini and shrimp in white cream sauce which was also topped with mozzarella and served with garlic bread. The spaghetti was truly delicious and had a unique flavor that will bring you back for more. The linguini was arguably delicious but somewhat bland. Also worth noting is that the dinners do not come with a salad. A salad is $1.99 extra, but is a 1 time trip through a well stocked salad bar. The wait staff was courteous and attentive. read more

The building is a little run down-- the ceiling tiles are water-stained and everything looks a bit dingy, like it could all use a good deep clean. Shockingly good... I took my parents here to try on my last night in town because I saw the reviews on yelp were very good. This place did not disappoint! I had the chicken Parmesan, the chicken was moist, the sauce flavorful my only issue was that it didn't coat all the noodles, it was a little runny towards the bottom. My dad's sea food ravioli was the best- I would definitely choose that next time and my mom's manicotti was great! My wife and I stopped this restaurant, to give it a try. We decided to order a medium deep dish pizza, some $18+ dollars. We wanted a salad bar trip, but decided not to get one; hearing one salad trip would be $1.99 and the other $4.99. Really didn't get why. The owner told us one salad comes with the pizza, but the other didn't. Hmmmm. I guess he charges a full drink fee, in addition to a to go cup drink; most all restaurant s don't. Marchello's is kind of a hidden gem down in south Wichita. It's definitely a family place, in both senses of the term: you can take your family there, and it's family-run. Other reviews have covered the salient details, so I'll just throw out my recommendations: the Milano sandwich, which isn't on the menu but you can sometimes still get it (roast beef and Italian sausage), or the eggplant parmesan sandwich. The conversation ultimately ended with a young man by the name of JOSHUA claiming to be the manager, calling me a bitch and cussing at me then hanging up on me. First of all, let me just say, we have ordered here and eaten at the restaurant a few times. The service is always slow, however if you have the time, they do have good food. However tonight was flat out ridiculous. I called in a delivery order at 6:15pm. Asked for a time frame and he told us 1 hour. Ok no problem one hour. We waited the hour and I called them back at 7:25pm, and asked about our order. The lady who answered said our order was out for delivery. Ok I guess we will wait some more, but we did not complain. And now here it is 8:00pm, we have not seen or heard from anyone. So I called back and am told that our order just came out of the oven... what do you mean it just came out of the oven, she told me 30 mins ago that it was out for delivery... So I asked to speak to the manager, who told me they got backed up and were bagging our order up now. Well it is freaking almost 2 hrs after I ordered. I have kids who are hungry. You took my phone number when I ordered, Why could you not have called and said you know your order is going to be later than expected. At least give someone that much courtesy, but no your staff lied and said it was out for delivery 30 mins ago. Just canel my order, we won't be ordering from your establishment again. And I hung up, No kind of apology given or anything, and then the guy had the audacity to call me back and ask if I wanted my delivery tonight or not... It was slow, and understandably lightly staffed. It took a minute after being seated, but nothing noteworthy. But once she took our drink order, our server was attentive and polite and good natured. Made it a very enjoyable experience. Food - started with a Cesar salad. Nothing remarkable, but better than others. Nothing really noticeable though. Cheesy garlic bread was COVERED in heavy mozz, which is how I like it. The Cheese Manicotti with meat sauce? That is what I was waiting for. The meat sauce was delicious. Definitely the highlight of the meal. The kids got fettuccini Alfredo which I sampled and liked as well. On the next visit I had a baked pasta dish that was below average. I left feeling super disappointed and vowed to never return. Fast forward a few years and here I am, disgusted and disappointed. Baked ziti was plain Jane but the meatballs I added on and paid extra for? Gross. Low rating is due to waiting 45 minutes AFTER our "salad bar"... which the only thing on it, is a mixed greens salad. The cucumber was either old or frozen at one point. The red/purple onion had definitely been frozen at one point, and the Italian dressing tasted watered down. Back to the 45 minutes ...for a calzone, that wasn't fully cooked and fettuccine carbonara. We were told the kitchen ran out of sausage.... Italian restaurant that runs out of sausage. On a Friday night?? How does that happen?
