Ran by one of the previous owners of Sweet Basil. The recipes are tired and true! Love their chicken teriyaki and spicy shrimp fettuccine. The steamed veggies were perfectly good. Lightly flavored with butter, I believe. The breadsticks are freshly made and delicious! Happy they give two for each entree. You have to try their ranch, I believe it's homemade and it's so addicting. Food is plentiful and affordable. I usually have leftovers for another meal. I found Pasta Express a decent option for a quick pasta lunch in Wichita. Quality wise, it sits somewhere between Fazoli's and Olive Garden, but portions are generous, prices are more than fair, and the selection is good. I got the Alfredo with crispy chicken and an order of motz sticks. All of this food was like $16, and was easily splittable between two people. The chicken was thin and crispy but still pretty moist...the breading could have used a little more seasoning, but it was still good tasting. The pasta was ever so slightly Al dente, as it should be, and the Alfredo sauce struck a good balance of flavor, though it was slightly more runny than I prefer...not watery, just not as creamy as I would have liked. The motz sticks were good, but they taste like they're probably frozen. While not quite as good as Sonic, they're 8 for $5, so you can't complain too much. All told, Pasta Express is a very reasonably priced lunch spot to get a good meal...it's unlikely to knock your socks off, but you can't do much better for the cost. read more

Very friendly staff! The guy at the counter was very soft spoken and accommodating. The food was flavorful and the portions were generous, especially considering the price. My young son and I wanted a nice meal that was NOT from a fast food place. Something that wasn't a burger or processed taco. He actually found this place on Yelp and we gave it a go. Another weekly trip to our new favorite Italian place in Wichita. This time husband tried the chicken Parmesan and I tried the lasagne. Both had excellent flavor. Little too much tomato taste for us, but still is classic Italian. Another set of brownies and breadsticks came with the meal. I am telling you the breadsticks are very very good. When I heard that the cooks here used to cook at Sweet Basil, I had to go try it right away. This place isn't fancy but the food is good. I love the fried mushroom appetizers. Lasagna is my favorite. The price point and portion size is perfect, too. This is a wonderful place to go if you're just feeling some pasta. I tried the Caesar salad which was really just a salad. But I also had the meat manicotti and it was superb. One of the best manicotti dishes I've had in years. It's not fancy and they mean it when they say express: everything comes in to go dishes and comes out quick despite a small rush before us. We discovered this little place just because I absolutely love Italian food and was in the area helping a lady from church and seen it and decided to give it a try and I made the best decision ever that day. That was back in September 2019. We go there at least 3-4 times and sometimes more now that we can get delivery. I'm really picky when it comes to Italian food. I've eaten at several very well known places here in Wichita and I promise you will absolutely love the food especially the price and quantity with awesome flavor. So,so good you won't be disappointed. Our 5yr old absolutely loves their spaghetti and meatballs and mozzarella cheese sticks and fried ravioli's. He also loved the stuffed mushrooms and doesn't believe that they are stuffed mushrooms he thinks there cheese balls. The smell of garlic and alfredo sauce hits you hard and it smells amazing. The space is in a strip where there are plenty of other places to eat but it stands out. It is very clean and worth the small wait you'll experience. I cannot recommend Pasta Express enough!!! They are SO careful with allergies! Both the gentleman up front and the chef in back checked everything and talked me through the menu! I was able to have some delicious grilled chicken and steamed veggies. I brought in a dear older friend of mine who hadn't been out to eat since the pandemic started, because she wanted Italian. She was thrilled with the stuffed mushrooms--she said they were incredible! I will absolutely be back with friends and family. I used to love this place. When it first opened up the food quality was very good. But here of late I would have to say the quality of the food is lacking very much. I just ate at pasta Express and I was very unhappy to say the least. The stuffed jalapenos used to be almost like handmade at the restaurant, but this time the breading sucked it was tasteless it was soggy and almost room temperature. The jalapeno itself, the skin was tough I almost couldn't bite through it. And the jalapeno had absolutely no flavor and no heat. The breadsticks used to be of a decent size but this time they were smaller did not seem fresh we're almost tasteless. I ordered the cheese manicotti with the Alfredo sauce, it used to be thick rich and velvety and now it's too runny, there seemed to be more filling in them before. I asked for it to be spicy this time and there was no spice to it at all. The sauce was also lacking in flavor. I think pasta Express needs to lower their prices to match the poor quality of food they have served lately. read more

We live in Boston & wanted to send a Happy Birthday dinner to our son who is at the McConnell AFB. Before I placed the order with Doordash, I spoke with Jason several times. Jason was friendly and patient with all my questions. I told him I was ordering 3 dishes but didn't want them all to be Fettuccine. I asked him if he could change 1 w Angel Hair and 1 w Penne, he said he surely would do that. My son called me to let me know Doordash was meeting him at the Front Gate.... right on time as requested :) He said the food smelled so good. He put two dishes in the refrig and had the Alfredo Fettuccine w Spicy Shrimps while we visited over Zoom. He said it was delicious and confirmed he indeed had 3 different pastas for 3 dishes.
