I'll be honest...I hadn't been to the dentist in about 10 years, for many different reasons. Recently, I had a tooth break that was causing me a ton of pain, so I gave in and finally decided to go to a dentist. I did a Google search for what was near me, and Dr Rao's office popped up. I'm glad I went with her. After not going to the dentist for a decade, I KNEW I had some issues. When you don't go for that long, part of the anxiety of going comes from feeling as if you'll be judged or questioned about why you hadn't been. Dr Rao's staff did nothing to make me feel awkward or guilty about not being to a dentist for years. I believe Dr Rao's exact words to me were "you're here now, and that's all that matters." Her staff is friendly, and she herself is very personable, but she's also honest and straight to the point about what you need/don't need done. Another part of anxiety that comes from going to the dentist is, much like any service you pay for, you worry that you may be charged for services you don't need. Dr Rao alleviated those worries for me when she told me that there was a very expensive procedure that I COULD choose to do, but she did NOT recommended it or feel I absolutely needed it. She could've told me otherwise, I would've known no different, and paid a lot of money, but she was honest and straight with me. I've been to her three times now and have never felt any pain after a procedure and feel very comfortable with her, and that's an important part of choosing a dentist. She makes you feel comfortable, is honest, personable, friendly, and most importantly, good at her job. I'd recommend her services to anyone.

I left work early and arrived at our appointment time THEY scheduled for me. I was told we no longer participate with your insurance as of yesterday 9/29 and you'll have to pay $619 to have it done. I was in…read morethere about a year ago for a tooth that the cavity fell out of and wanted a root canal to have a crown put on the tooth. He was all set to do the crown and upon further review he discovered that the tooth was split down through the root and the root canal would not be recommended because the tooth would have to be pulled anyway. So, good on him that he didn't just go ahead and perform the root canal anyway. I would use him again myself without any reservations.

I have known Pete over 20 years as a patient and a friend. Which is why it pains me so to write this review. I feel compelled to warn others regarding Pete Ceravolo and his declining ability. I have had at least four root canals with Pete and it is the experience regarding my last root canal which went horribly wrong. Pete is declining and must have early onset brain problems. He told me my visit would be completed in two visits (after the initial consult) and he "wrapped everything up in one" I asked him about the warning he gave me of the need for two visits and I even paid two visits worth of nitrous. The tooth was not sealed properly and when I returned to him in pain he told me to go see an oral surgeon. I asked him to show me where on the X-rays he said I had a problem and he could not even look at me while he proceeded to lie to my face. I used to hang out with Pete up on his 300 acre farm where he used to boast about his prowess in "Drilling, Filling and Billing!" I should have taken that as a warning sign and stopped using him. He is available at a moments notice which certainly does not speak much of the demand for his services. His office is always empty waiting for his next prey. The employee list on the wall is a decade old and the only thing Pete cares about is money. What a shame.

I'm a student at SU and have never been to a doctor outside of my home state of MA. The crown stayed put (thankfully) with 'temporary' cement for about 2 weeks. However, Dr. Grasso was condescending in his attitude and language. I felt uncomfortable and would not go back.
