OMG, Dr. Marc B. Hertz is the best kept secret in all of Brooklyn, NY. This oral surgeon extracted 14 teeth (my 12 teeth and my husband's 2 teeth) in 30 minutes (numbing period included). Dr. Hertz knows his stuff (surgical duties and office work when his assistants aren't available), is no-nonsense about his work but is very caring and can be very comical. To alleviate my fear and possible pain, I put on my walkman with headphones turned up very loud on Salsa music, laid back, closed my eyes and relaxed (a trick I learned from a former dentist which works like a charm). 9 of my teeth extracted easy and the other 3 were more difficult but Dr. Hertz was patient & tackled the job without incident. FolIowing my surgery, I walked and took care of some errands for an hour (picked up prescriptions, visited a notary, and stopped at another store) while pushing my husband in a wheelchair. Once home, I began eating soft foods one and a half hours after the surgery (like pudding and mashed potatoes) while rinsing my mouth out with room temperature water after each meal and then return to regular meals the next day. I followed all of the post surgery rules and procedures to a tee and I NEVER felt a drop of pain or NEVER knew when the drugs/injections wore off. We only took our antibiotics and never used the pain killer meds. After having been fearful and worried for a whole month prior to the surgery, I felt happy and relieved that I had a very pleasant total experience with Dr. Hertz. I had no previous personal knowledge of Dr. Hertz but I noticed he had good reviews and a high rating online - and now I know why. I dislike visiting doctors or dentist and am super selective when it comes to choosing the right ones. Dr Hertz came highly recommended and i have to say he outdid my expectations . His office staff is really nice ,pleasant and accommodating.He explained the procedure and patiently answered all my questions prior to the surgery. He was upbeat and quite funny which made the experience somewhat enjoyable (seriously:) It took him about 3-5 minutes to complete (less time then it taking me to write this review:-). Dr. Hertz and staff are very kind, courteous and personable. I went in to his office as a new patient for an emergency visit, and was shocked to see a full waiting room. The doctor came out into the room to see how everyone was, and was joking around with an obviously nervous little girl that was waiting to have some teeth extracted. When it was my turn, the doctor explained the entire procedure ( 2 wisdom teeth, one almost infected...) and possible side effects and other concerns. Then, without exaggeration, 5 minutes later, before I even knew what was happening, both teeth were out! I went to Dr. Hertz and was greeted by a very pleasant young lady behind the reception area. After filling out some forms (it was my first visit) I waited in the waiting room for a short time, Dr. Hertz apologized for the wait and said he would be with me shortly. I found him to be very friendly, warm and caring. I had a wisdom tooth extracted and before the procedure, he explained every single step of the way to me as far as what he was going to do and what I should expect. He was very kind and gave me a lot of detailed information which was very helpful. The experience was a very positive and pleasant one, which can be tricky when having a tooth pulled! Just got two wisdom teeth pulled out two hours ago, went quick and so fast I really didn't expect it to be this smooth, Doctor is so soft and gentle explains everything so you know what is going to happen. The staff are super sweet and helpful willing to be flexible if you have an emergency like I had..The other reviews spoke about a long wait, I came first in the morning so didn't have to wait at all. Even if I would have to wait it would have been so worth it because he does such a quick and professional job that I will recommend him to all my friends and family. Great oral surgeon! Very nice guy! Will actually pick up the phone and answer your questions and takes most insurances. I had my wisdom teeth extracted with him and believe me when I tell you it was 100% painless, he gave me the IV demerol&valium to "take the edge off" and I truly didn't feel a thing aside from hearing some crackling, both my wisdosm were out in 3-4 seconds. No complains about the doc! He does have one nasty receptionist that gets her sha-nay-nay on with patients over the phone ( nice in person- go figure!)but the great thing is you truly don't have to deal with her since dr hertz will actually pick up the phone!! THE BEST EVER!!!!! Needed a wisdom tooth pulled. I was out of town at the time it started hurting. By the time I got back I was in agony! Not even strong painkillers could help. Dr. Hertz agreed to see me even though it was at the end of the day on Friday before the weekend and he still had a long trip home! Bottom line the extraction went as smooth as possible. He did such a good job that within 24 hours I was completely off painkillers and feeling almost normal. I had no swelling at all. Best Oral Surgeon in NYC!!! Got all my wisdom teeth removed by him with no problems whatsoever. I was very nervous going in, I thought the recovery would be long and painful. He made me feel very comfortable, and the procedure was over very quickly with no pain at all. The recovery was almost non-existent, I had no pain and was back to normal within a few days. When I needed a consultation on an infected tooth, he saw me even though he was overbooked. I have had a few friends get extractions by him and they all had similar experiences. Went back to Dr. Hertz today to get the remainder of my wisdom teeth removed. One of the removals wasn't quite as easy as the two I had done 1.5 weeks ago. I experienced pain during it (which was due to my tooth, not because of anything Dr. Hertz did incorrectly or anything along those line) but Dr. Hertz and his assistant both did everything they possibly could to ensure I was feeling better and helped me calm down. Had a broken tooth that had become infected and swollen. Called the office and left a message regarding tooth. Received a call back from Dr. Hertz the next day. We talked about the tooth, asked if I was in pain, if so I could see him that day. I have no insurance, so we talked about various fees for extractions. I had checked around so his price was fair.
