This mini Pub has such a distinguished following that encompasses quite an unlikely array of people. But mostly men .. and real men at that who really do know what real ale love is all about. The local micro brewery of the same name that supplies this temple to the art of brewing has a well regarded history among the ale geeks! As soon as you walk in you are almost floored by the smell of yeast & hops goodness that you simple will never find in a common or garden pub, it surprises me that the heady odour does not draw men Bisto tractor beam fashion onto the premises. Anyhow, the real ale experience here is ... well.. very real, not to mention very reasonable! The bar snacks are pretty decent too as they are supplied by an independent supplier of similarly wholesome and tasty originals snacks based not far away. Note, if you want to enjoy a night on the real ale with some real man buddies, then get there early as this place is small, so you will need to claim your seats early.

Although almost impossible to find a seat at any time, this cosy little pub offers amazing beer and reasonable prices. The selection changes regularly. The furniture is quite interesting and of course, it being in chorlton, so are the punters generally. They don't accept big notes... perhaps not even cards... i can't remember. There's nothing fancy at all. This is simply a place to come for some nice beer.

    Review Highlights - Marble Beerhouse

Unlike many bars in Chorlton, the Marble Beer House is an unfussy place with friendly bar staff, a great atmosphere and no pretensions!

The menu was pretty standard, so I quickly have chosen what to have and went to take a seat. The breakfast was of the right temperature, no twists, does the job. If want a quick fix ( depending on how many people are already there) while waiting for your train or stuff at Mosi, than that's the place; otherwise might want to check out things nearby. The wait was a bit too long - but again, this is a pub, not a breakfast place, so not sure it's fair to expect fast service at this time of day.

Although it's traditional and there's nothing that makes you go wow like some nearby trendy bars, it's definitely this which appeals to me - in fact I found a lovely little table towards the back with a roaring fire which warmed me up on a day when the weather was starting to look rather autumnal. I was served by 3 different staff and all were friendly, polite and welcoming. For some bizarre reason I decided to go for their 2 for £12.95 lunch deal (why I needed 2 courses at lunch I'm not sure but it seemed good value - plus I'd been in meetings all day so needed a fair amount of comfort food) and I went for the ham hock terrine to start with (lovely piccalilli) followed by the steak and ale pie with chips and vege's (devine). The quality and taste was excellent and with a very full belly I felt my work here was done! Speaking of work, it was also a good little spot to work for an hour on my laptop afterwards - with free wifi. That's the right way to blend tradition and modern so as the customer has the best of both worlds :-)

Located in a part of the city that is clearly on the up (just off St Peters Square) it's a traditional boozer of the very old school variety - deceptively sized with a tiny front bar but loads of seating in the back! The drinks on offer are all a little bit stuck in the past for my beer tastes but this isn't a problem for most patrons - they just do lots of bitters, lagers and stouts. I have to say that their beer flights are great value at just over £3.00 where you can get a third of each beer of your choice up to a pint - really good idea and great to see it appearing in more and more pubs! City Arms is somewhere that's cool to pop into if you're after a quick pint or meeting with friends, I just can't see myself wanting to spend all night here - I think I'd get very bored, very quickly of the beers on offer - but this is my own overly pretentious beery opinion!

Cheap drinks as well, and it's 50p for a game of pool. You can also play darts if you want, or just sit there, relax and have a brew. They have a beers garden, and in the afternoon there are a lot of people around smoking and chatting. It's a Joseph Holt pub, so of course, some Manchester Ales can be found, like Maple Moon for instance. Very good beer, I recommend it. All in all, the staff was really friendly. As long as it's not busy, this pub is actually nicer than I've expected. Yeah, I'll probably go there again.
