There are only 4 pumps, so it was easy to maneuver in once I spotted their very competitive gas prices. I appreciate not having to dodge people at the larger stations. That being said, it had been a hot minute since I'd had to go through so many steps (enter zip, flip the nozzle up, etc.) to get gas. The pumps were a few years behind, but well worth the price. As I topped off, I couldn't help but notice a senior in front of me having difficulty, so I walked over and asked if I could assist him. He said his card wasn't being read, when in fact, he was having a hard time reading the digital lettering that danced by requesting his zip code. I'm glad I was there to help, because it didn't seem as if anyone inside noticed and the lettering was tricky to read as bright as it was. Nevertheless, nothing could kill my joy on this beautiful sunny Spring day, and having done a good deed made it seem even better!

But, if you are in a hurry, here are some tips to help you: 1. You can use a debit card, but if do, answer "NO" when it asks if it is a debit card. It can only process cards that the pump thinks are credit cards. It will save you a trip inside to the attendant who will tell you the same thing. 2. Some of the pumps don't give receipts, so you can use your phone to get an image of how much you used instead of having to go inside and having the attendant print you a receipt. 3. When using a card at the pump, it may take a long time to "authorize" since they don't have an internet connection other than via satellite, so on cloudy days, it may take nearly a minute (long enough for the attendant to see me standing there waiting and walk out to the pump to explain it.) Everything works, and the gas is just as good as any other, but you are dealing with an old station and the quirks that go with it. I will give credit to the attendant in the small shop (the sell tobacco, candy, ice, and gas for home grilling) for having a good attitude and being helpful to make the transaction less frustrating. I always used this gas station to measure what the gas prices were on my walk to/from work everyday and then I would know that there are usually other cheaper options out there. (Granted, not in downtown as this is one of the cheaper ones, but definitely more affordable options within a 5 to 10 minute drive.) Several years ago, I would say that this wasn't a "safe" location, but after having lived very close to this location, I wouldn't say I ever felt like I was in danger at night while walking past this location.

Pretty standard fueling station outside the large Kroger located along Southport Road. There is a person in a small booth in the center of the bays for most of the day (except for the overnight shift). If you wish to pick up one of the propane tanks, buy ice, or rock salt that are stored there, you have to go to the booth to acquire those. The employees are generally pleasant and helpful, and there is a wide variety of all kinds of items you'd expect to find at a convenience store. However, I will never buy gas here again. My daughter filled up her tank here and the gas had water in it, which warranted a trip to the mechanic for a fix. We heard reports of other people in our neighborhood who experienced the same situation. Also we have bought drinks and food that were well past the expiration date (a 2 liter was over a year old), so be sure to check expiration dates if you buy provisions at this location.

Fortunately, as I was heading west on Raymond Street heading home from Fountain Square, I spotted this station on the northwest corner of the intersection with Meridian Street. I chose to enter from the south side of the property and pull into a bay. The place looked clean and the equipment seemed to be in working condition on all of the bays. I was soon filling my tank under the covered awning. I didn't go inside to check out the convenience store, but I did notice that this place didn't have a lot of peripheral items stacked outside. They did carry ice and propane tanks, but I didn't see rock salt or ricks of wood like some other stations (not that I needed either.) This is one of those places where the awning over the bays doesn't extend to the building, so be advised on rainy days that you may want to pay at the pump. The pump worked quickly, had paper to print my receipt, and I was soon able to pull onto Meridian Street and begin my journey home. Nice to know this spot is here! Review #3554

Convenient BP gas station located on the corner of Brookville Road and Post Road on Indys east…read moreside. They have all the convenience store items you expect, including soda pops, candy, snacks, cigarettes and many other items. The gas price seems to be pretty much the same as most other places. The store is a bit crowded as the aisles are a little bit narrow and the store does seem to stay busy during the daylight hours. They have been out of a type of energy drink I like a couple times I stopped in. But overall this is a decent place to get gas and convenience store items.
