When heading back to an airport in a rental car, a key thing on my mind is finding a gas station close enough to the airport to fill up and avoid a more expensive fuel fee from the Avis/Budget or Alamo/Enterprises of the world. I don't do prepaid gas as it's rarely economical or convenient for me.
In the the case of IND, there's no need to worry as there's a gas station right at the airport entrance, and at least a few more beyond this Mobil station where we stopped. We stopped for convenience, as it was on the side we were driving and access was well lit (in early morning), with easy in and out.
My only complaint was pulling in and then finding out that my pump was out-of-service. So it was back in the car and moving to another island. Past that, it was a unremarkable rental car fill up. And I made sure I took my receipt as I've had situations where they charged for fuel anyway and I needed to correct their mistake with proof. read more
