Had an absolute blast on the marathon lady today for their morning charter from 8:30 am until 12:30 pm. Captain Craig and the two Jakes were amazing. They helped with baiting the hooks, unhooking the catches, cleaning the fish, and providing unparalleled entertainment. We couldn't have asked for a better day on the water, the fish were biting and the weather was absolutely perfect. The captain kept putting us right on the fish and we ended the trip with plenty to bring to a restaurant for a hook and cook dinner. I can't recommend this place enough, the price is right and the people running it and keeping it going are great. The captain even let us know when a pod of dolphins were nearby so we could enjoy seeing them! Such an unexpected and great bonus to the day! It is BYOB if you want, but onboard they do have some beverages and snacks for purchase (cash only on board), but we brought our own which worked out well. Tickets can be purchased with debit or credit cards, but cash on board is king for drinks/snacks, tips, and fish cleaning so make sure to bring some cash for your day on the water! If you're in the middle keys and want a great value for a fishing trip without a full charter, this is the best there is and totally worth it. read more

Though I am an experienced fresh water angler I don't have a ton of salt experience. The deck hands quickly help with any rigging needed done really saving time so you can spend more time with your line in the water and catch more fish. I generally don't like party boats, and was kind of dreading the adventure, but it was fabulous. Our mates were Jonathan and Jake, and they did a great job. They would even put bait on your hook if you wanted them to. They were terrific at getting people unstuck off the bottom. Everyone caught fish. If we had a spot that did not catch fish, the captain quickly moved onto another spot. I would absolutely recommend them, and I would absolutely go out with them again. The only room for improvement, is the briefing. They told people how to use the rod and reel, and where the lifejackets were. They really need to tell people about boat etiquette. A woman was seasick and sick on the boat, and they should have told her to throw up off the back of the boat. She was on the bow, and then the side and that is not the right place to be sick. They should have also mentioned the locations of the head, and availability of beverages and snacks. The briefing absolutely needs improvement. read more

I did not actually fish on the marathon lady, but I have to give them a favorable review based on how the captain treated me on the water. I was in marathon with my 16' fishing boat, fishing for snapper & blue runners with my kids on board... anchored near the edge of the channel & the captain would slow down whenever he went past so he didn't cause my little boat to uncomfortably rock. I was very grateful & plan to go on the charter the next time we go to marathon instead of bringing my own boat. The customers seemed very pleased on the return trip & everyone waved at us. It's been a very long time since I've been out on this boat. I can't say enough about the mates; John and Jay! They were everywhere helping everyone with courteous smiles during the whole trip. The two of them were really amazing. I was disappointed though in catching just small little 'Grunts', they're really a garbage fish and I was hoping for something/anything else. I think the spots we fished were fished out of better fish i.e. yellow tail, grouper, ANYTHING! But it was a beautiful day and to be out on the water on a day like was a win for me! I will definitely go back out but on the 'Marathon Lady' next time I'm in Marathon but will do a lot more research on whats running during that time of year. read more

All together I been out fishing on the marathon lady about 8 times caught fish every trip out except the first time obviously I was sick . Ryan and crew said come back and pick some motion sickness chewable tablets work great so my next trip out to my last trip out I caught fish and on the last day I caught a grouper just a 1/2 inch to small boy was it fun altogether I caught about 25 to 30 fish great time and I can't say enough about the crew they taught how to fish period they have lots of patience and you can tell they love what they anytime I am in marathon again I will book these great trips read more

We went out on Thursday morning and were very pleased with Captain Greg and crew. The captain was constantly watching our catch activity and we moved to 5-6 spots to get on the catch. The Lady is a big fishing vessel, lots of room to spread out and drop your line. We did not have a single event getting lines tied up with someone else on this party charter. The price was reasonable, and the availability of rental fishing rods was certainly great. The best part though was the Crew. I was very disappointed with the fishing in the crew I literally could've taken me and my friends to fish from shore and caught bigger fish than what they put us on we were literally fishing in 15 feet of water I started to get seasick and fell asleep inside as I woke up my friends proceeded to tell me that the captain and crew were making fun of me and making fun of the fishing poles that I had brought it was very tough for me to be the bigger man but I am not from around these parts and would be unwise to start any disputes just makes me sick to see how immature the captain and crew I will never be back don't waste your money I do a lot of fishing around Florida and theses guys have zero idea what there doing there just taking your money and you can't ask for a refund because you caught a 5 inch grunt disgusting read more

We had a fantastic day!!!! Our group of 11 headed out to sea on the Marathon Lady for a day of fun and we were NOT disappointed. The crew took fabulous care of us. I had never been fishing before and I was pretty apprehensive. It could not have been easier with the instruction and assistance from DJ and Josh (?) And captain John even assisted at times. We caught a ton of fish and the crew was helpful and patient (when I kept messing up my line or getting stuck on the bottom.) the bathrooms and the boat were very clean. DO NOT ATTEMPT IF YOU GET MOTION SICKNESS. We gave it a shot and, unfortunately, both of us were sick the majority of the trip. On the positive, we caught 10+ fish between the two of us when we were well enough to focus on fishing! Great captain and crew, everyone was knowledgeable and helpful. Fellow passengers were friendly and some of us bonded over our upset stomachs. Only downfall of the experience (besides the sickness, which can't be helped) was that smoking was allowed on board when traveling between the fishing spots. This was our first reef fishing experience. We called the day before and made arrangements for the following mornings 8:30 trip. We parked and went to the window, cost was $45 pp, plus the cost of rod & reel rentals. There were no hidden fees (which is a bonus). We boarded the boat. It was clean and well equipped. The crew was friendly and attentive and really went out of their way to make sure everyone had a good experience. Our group of completely inexperienced "fisherman" caught several small fish and one big grouper. During our 4 hour trip, we fished in 4 different areas. There were snacks and drinks available for a small fee. Once we docked, the crew will clean and fillet your fish for you (if you wish). For our first real Keys fishing experience (especially with 2 kids) we had a blast and will definitely be back again. read more

First and foremost, this was my first time going on a party boat. The Good: I was very pleased with the staff as they were friendly, courteous, and attentive. They circled the boat each time we stopped at a fishing spot, to make sure they helped everyone with their catches. If you catch an impressive fish, they will show and tell it to the rest of your shipmates! They are knowledgeable about what types of fish your catching, whether you can keep it or not, and ask if you want to keep it. If you do, they've come up with a way to sort the fish so that your sure you keep the fish you caught and not someone else's. They were also encouraging to me when I wasn't catching anything, which was most of the trip. This boat offers drinks, snacks, and rags if you want them. You may rent your reel and rods for $5. There is a charge if you lose them overboard. Bait and tackle are included. The Bad: I got frustrated when no one was catching anything big. It seemed like every time we hit a good spot of fishing, the captain wanted to move and we would end up in a less active place. We noticed all of the people catching the most impressive fish were sitting in the back of the boat, which was reserved when we arrived. But even their fish weren't all that big but I wondered if they paid more, or what they did to get "the best seats in the house." Through reading others reviews AFTER taking this trip, I found out the crew throws bait out into the water in the back of the boat ONLY to attract more fish. I personally don't feel like that's fair to others who also pay to catch impressive fish. Overall, it was an okay experience, but I probably won't book with them in the future. read more

We were down in Marathon for spring break with our family and we all decided to go out on a trip with these guys. I knew from the first time I spoke to someone from this company that we are going to have a good experience. They lady that answers the phones and runs the booth is so friendly, just a great person. She was a wealth of information and helped us pick the best time to go since we had some people that are prone to sea sickness. We ended up taking one of their afternoon trips and the seas conditions and weather were perfect. The captain and deck hands were very friendly and attentive. There were about 40 people on the boat when we went and when you caught a fish or got a snag they were never waited to long. We pretty much caught fish the whole time, and it looked like everyone was catching fish. We saw all sorts of species coming in and when someone caught something cool they brought it around to show everyone. There were a couple spots we went to that we could see bottom and you could see sharks swimming around below. Very cool! By the end of the trip we had all caught plenty of fish for a meal and the deck hands cleaned them for us for something like $1 for 3 fish. BEST TIME EVER! Me and my 3 boys went on a night trip and couldn't have had more fun anywhere. The captains wife checked us in at the booth and couldn't have been a nicer person. We boarded the ship and they put out drinks that we brought on ice. The mates were very thorough about explaining everything and were very helpful. Once we anchored and started fishing the two mates, DJ and Dez were more than amazing. The captain was also on deck helping everyone with their catch. The first two stops didn't produce much as the tide was still going out but the third stop at slack tide was ON! Everyone on the boat caught fish. The crew was on the move. DJ and Dez did the best job helping everyone and re-rigging lines and keeping everyone fishing. We will definitely do this again and highly recommend this as a must do adventure while in the keys!! read more
