Hamachi
Nicole H.

Took a trip to Puerto Morelos for lunch and were walking along the beach. To be honest, we picked Mar-Bella due to the location and view. The fresh, tasty seafood was a welcome surprise! Hubby and I shared the hamachi because this is the first restaurant we have even seen it on the menu, and it was very high quality. I also had a Tostada Carmelizada and loved the tuna. Hubby got the aguachilies with octopus instead of shrimp, and liked it, but wished it was spicier and found the octopus a tad rubbery. The service was good, and the location right on the beach fabulous. This is also a fish market, and we will be back to purchase some hamachi.

Husband and I came here to munch on a red snapper ceviche. It was absolutely DELICIOUS! Completely forgot to snap a picture. Be sure to ask for the habanero salsa! The service was great, the food we ordered did not disappoint, the music selection was nice, and you can't beat the view! Very satisfied! Would definitely come here again!

Fresh fish!

Love this place! It's like they hop into the water and pluck out a fresh fish as soon as you order. They even bring it to you to show you how fresh. Great food, great cocktails, and great outdoor vibe. It's right in front of the ocean so you get all the views and covered so you're safe if it rains. The staff was super friendly and knowledgeable about the menu when we asked for recommendations. We'll be back when we return to Puerto Morelos!

Enjoyed margaritas and tequila shots on the beach. Ended up staying for 3 hours without being rushed and eventually ended up ordering food as well. High prices compared to nearby competitors and still worth the money.

Lunch ! 16 people serving was top notch!!

Food is great slightly over priced! Service is incredible! Ambiance is incredible!! Right on the ocean and looking out onto the surf!! GET THE SWEET AND SPICY FISH!!

Fabulous service, view and food. Definitely will be back. It sits right on the beach and is a fish market so you have lots of options including shrimp, octopus, lobster in season, variety of fish and much more! I had the snook fish with panko and various seasonings with a side if risotto. My husband had the rice with shrimp and octopus.... Think shrimp/octopus fried rice vibe. Mimosas topped off our brunch. Roberto was very attentive. We'll be back!

The food is meh at best. The oysters were the worst oysters I have ever had. They tasted like they were soaked in rock salt. Needless to say I sent them back. Our meals were not even warm. The menu is very confusing. They bring out a big black board with what turns out to be all their specials of the day but act like that is all they have to order from. So as Americans we were sitting there trying to figure out how many grams of fish to order and how much that would cost since it was priced per Kilo. Then after that frustration, they bring the menu out with appetizers and tacos and the different ways they can prepare the fish. Seems like this should have been the first part of the presentation. Anyway, this would get a one star but the location, the ambience, the vibe, the music...That's the reason for a better review.

Great service and cool al fresco vibe, you start of with a big basket of tortilla chips and a variety of salsas. I started off with a Ahi Tostada and Wifey started with a seafood soup which were both tasty. We shared a fresh Catch local Hogfish and Grilled Octopus which were absolutely delicious! Four items, and two drinks with tip came out to a little over $50 usd. Definitely worth the visit!

The vibe is super relaxed, with all seats in the sand. My kids enjoyed chasing the iguanas and sitting on the palm tree (which strangely grows parallel with the ground) while we waited for our food. We didn't see the option on the menu but our guide told us there is a big cooler and you can just pick out your fish to get it fried up fresh for you. Sure enough, there was a huge white cooler where we could sort through the fish options and pick one the right size for our family. It came with sides like beans, guac and tortillas, and all meals come with chips plus tomato and jalapeno salsas. We also ordered ceviche and the total price was less than $40 for a family of 4. More importantly, everything was super fresh and delicious! I wish I lived nearby so I could come back again - I would be a regular if I could!

I have stayed in Puerto Morelos three times in the past two years and gone to El Picudo about 6 or…read moreseven times. It's easily my favorite seafood restaurant in Puerto Morelos - which is full of seafood restaurants. The bad part is that there is no ocean view and no air conditioning, you need a car or a taxi to get there and the staff speaks little English. The good part is that it is clearly a very popular local place - my party has always been the only obviously non-local group in a usually crowded place- and the seafood is amazingly fresh, perfectly prepared, served fast (considering it is made to order) and delicious. The portions are enormous. The price is reasonable. One can eat like a king for 15 to 25 dollars a person. My favorite is the octopus ceviche. The octopus is soft and fresh and perfectly cooked. Tossed with very fresh finely chopped onions, tomatoes and peppers in a lemon, chili and cilantro sauce that is not too spicy. The best ceviche I have had in Quintana Roo. A medium portion is a very ample appetizer for two people or a satisfying meal for one person. We generally follow up with the whole fried hogfish, around a pound of perfectly fried fish, very fresh, crispy on the outside, moist on the inside, nicely salted. Served with a salad, a small portion of yellow rice and a really strong hot sauce on the side. The octopus escabeche and the shrimp with garlic sauce are also excellent choices. A cold Corona beer (or two) completes the meal.
