BEWARE the photographers taking picture of local juniors in high school! Senior pics in the wild! Anyways, the sunken garden is a little hidden and not on the main path of Highland park. You go beyond the highland bowl then BOOM. If you can find a quiet time to drop by, it is amazingly peaceful and serene. You can take a walk through the entire highland park neighborhood after, or enjoy a picnic on the grass near highland bowl. Overall, a great ROC institution that's great for photos but also maybe just put your phone away and enjoy the view!

Came in on Sunday which is the last day of the festival, it is definitely packed! We've been blessed with a beautiful 73 degrees weather. There are tons of food, drinks, desserts and crafts. They also have things to do for kids which was fun! I would suggest coming during the weekday so it less crowded. There were designated parking for this event and it cost vary ranging from 5-10 bucks. I am glad this event is back this year.. I can't wait for next year

Getting hustled to buy rain gutters, roofs, windows or any other home improvement at a flower festival is not appealing. Lilacs were pretty, and the food tent was solid, but everything else was just depressing. The festival needs a cleanup.

So on 9/19/2021 they were holding a special event for old fire trucks, I headed out there. They had an assortment of vehicles going back in time. The old trolley car which you can ride on, fire trucks, roadway machinery, an original Greyhound bus, and more. I was impressed. Good for the history buffs, and families. And I give special credit to the men and women who donate their time to make this happen.

But there is a lot to see here and admission comes with a really nice ride on the tram. They have a couple cars from the old Midtown monorail which brought back a lot of memories. Lots of cars and engines you can climb on, and a lot of the bells still work. Some other neat old antique vehicles as well. All the people that were working/volunteering were super nice as well. Overall great way to spend an afternoon.

I do not fault the farm for that, but can't give a 100% full and accurate review until we are able to experience those things. As noted above we were unable to see the animals, which was really disappointing! But we understand why. We stopped at the office to check, and they were very friendly. They informed us that due to Covid the walking trail is the only thing that is open to visitors, so that is what we did. The farm itself is cute. The grass was groomed, there is a sign telling you what was where, and swinging benches were all over the place. We visited the greenhouse, but there wasn't much going on in there. You can buy plants and flowers. It looked like there was a sand table that kids could dig around in that is probably busy on better days. We walked the trail, scoped out the pond (watch that loose board!), and went into the woods. This is where it got interesting, because I had no idea it was lined with "fairy houses"! My daughter was elated about this, and we checked out every single one. There were also signs with cool nature factoids, like what prints certain animals make, and how to tell how old a tree may be. There is a really nice pavilion just outside of the farm entrance, and a playground there too. Another fun thing we discovered by the playground was a Little Library! This place has great reviews overall, and I believe them. I think that we'd really love it once we are able to experience all that it has to offer. I still recommend it now if you are looking for a fun and easy trail to walk. Especially if you have kids! And it is right around the corner from other trails and fun playgrounds to explore, too. We will definitely come back and try again when Covid precautions are lifted! :)

Pumpkin Patch Train Ride Is a fun activity for the whole family. I love train rides, and this one…read moredid not dissapoint, although the actual ride is short. At the train station there are restrooms, gift shop, food vendor and a petting pet area. The ride go to the train museum where several train cabooses are on display and one can climb up and explore. The pumpkin patch is a small area to play. Hot cider and donuts are sold and there are plenty of tables and benches to rest and savor these goodies. A train model exhibit is monitor and kept by the volunteers. A fun filled Autumn morning.

Rides are every half hour and advance ticket purchases can be purchased online. We rode the open air car for about 10 mins then it reverses backwards towards the train displays. We got off and walked around the grounds. There were two rows of trains to view/photo ops. Inside the building there were two train cars we could walk through and a nice model train display. Plus, they offered complimentary animal crackers and juice for kids. Outside around the corner is another car you can enter where a nice gentleman with a wealth of knowledge explains the history of the signals and levers. It's small quarters so only one family is allowed in at a time. They also have a small area called the pumpkin patch where your ticket includes a pumpkin to take home for each kid. When the next group was dropped off, we waited to board again to take us back to the original loading spot. Same route. Overall, a nice first time experience for the kids to ride and get up close to trains.

The sister of the gentlemen who puts on a display for Hollween as well as Christmas, was happy to speak to us and explained all the displays there where to visit. She said she gets dressed and greats people on caricature. I was told the best time to go is on Thursday or Friday night. She said it gets really scary out there, as she talked to us on how to move about the grounds. We were directed to the road and instructed to walk through the grave yard to the corn maze and we would find the circus at one side and a new display going the opposite way that was a western theam. I was nurvuse because I did not want to get lost in the corn maze. It was really cool making our way into the grave yard full of bones and other displays. The maze was a nice wide well padded down service. Lights through out for night time. All sorts of fun and very graphic gross displays. I throughly enjoyed every display!! I would not go with anyone who is not good with horrors. There is plenty of that on display. Mind you I went wearily afternoon to visit. In the front they also have things on display. There is no fee for checking out the very interesting maze and displays but there are places to make a donation to help keep them going. I am excited about going back in the dark!!. They are following COVID rules spacing is up to the visitors. Pumpkins are nicely priced...i would highly recommended a drive to check out all the displays. Hollween and Xmas!!
