Please beware that smaller dogs may be able to fit under the fence or even through the fence bars. My 20 lb dog was able to get through the fence bars without much effort. Thankfully I was able to recall her. Also the dog water fountains in the park never seem to work when I am there so remember to bring water for your pup

We are so thankful that this park exists. I think everyone knows that it is now a dog park and we…read moreDEFINITELY utilize this since St. Louis does not have many great places to take our pups. This park offers gated greenery and tons of running and playing space for the local pups and it is so much fun even to go as humans. If you are looking for somewhere to take your dogs and have not been here, you need to come! Pro tip: 95% of dogs are NOT on leashes and WILL approach your dog. If your dog will not be comfortable with this or is not friendly, this may not be the place for you. We started our dog on a leash and slowly worked our way up to letting him off and he enjoys this place now so much!

Not even when I offer to keep him on top of my shoulders! Let me understand this: I can take my dog to the dog park, but I have to leave my kid at home? Or take my kid to a park but leave my dog at home? What kind of a screwed up snobbery is going on in this town & park? Extremely disappointed. The only dog park I've ever needed a membership for had a bar and wait staff. This is a major FAIL STL! Seemed I needed to bow to the dog park gods who wanted a damn DNA sample to allow me in. As a recent transplant (renting in U-city) looking to buy a home I'll be crossing U-City off my list. Good luck with your property values.

Today, I decided to take Baxter on an adventure and we explored the park and then popped into the fenced in dog park so that he could play with a few other dogs. It was not too busy which was nice. There is a larger area for the big dogs and a smaller fenced area for the little ones. Of course, Baxter was the only small dog, so we decided to let him run around in the bigger park with the larger dogs. He did fine and the other dogs were friendly and didn't bother him at all. Most of the dogs were just wandering around the park and exploring. It's honestly such a huge space for the dogs to run! They have a few benches throughout the park and a shaded area to sit as well. There are a few waste areas with baggies so that you can clean up after your dog. Of course, it's not a monitored park, so it's fair to say that not everyone picks up after their dogs, so be careful not to step on the "piles". They also had a fountain right outside of the fenced area for dogs to get some water. I'd recommend bringing your own bowl and cold water for your dog just in case the fountain isn't working or had warm water during the hotter days. Overall, I really am glad this space is available for the dogs and I know I'll be back again soon! Since it's a free park, I'd recommend donating to the park if you have the means to so that it can stay open and kept up.

When we went this past week they opened the outside bar. It would be really great if they had a speaker system and music or something, it's kind of quiet and awkward more than I remember at Bar k, but that's a friendly suggestion :) overall; thankful our dogs have their social lives back!

The tennis and basketball courts look fresh and a new bed of wood chips were added to the children's playground. On the playground littles as young as 1 year old can enjoy a number of different kinds of equipment. They do have a baby and disability friendly swing available. However the entrance into the playground is NOT DISABILITY FRIENDLY. There is a short walking trail but beware of geese and their poo. I saw folks doing some leisurely fishing but not sure on those guidelines. The restrooms were interesting but I was surprised they were less maintained compared to the rest of the park. Dogs are welcome while on leash or on duty as service dogs.

There's also a pavilion but I haven't used it so I'm not sure what amenities it has. There's a path around the pond, and while it's a very short loop, it's good for a slow, peaceful wander. There are benches around the path and next to the park under some trees. I'd recommend checking it out if you're looking for a small, chill, clean, quiet park.
