We came for a checkup visit, and my 8yo was excited, which struck me as odd, as if he was saying I'm into pain, pops. When we got there, I understood, and when we left, I was excited for the return visit. There are two mame style arcade cabinets set up for free play. David and I played two player Dig Dug, and laughed harder than at any other time that day. We made some friends at the machines, then we got called in. The wait, whatever the length, was minimal anyway, but minimized further by the fact that we were preoccupied with pixels. Then, we went in for the checkup. All of the staff from reception to nurses, to NPs, to Dr. Parrott himself, showed stunning interest in customer service. As David was being worked on without pain or stress, I sat nearby and listened to the light music on the overhead speakers, when 'Movin On Up', the iconic 70's theme from 'The Jeffersons' came on. I danced a little, and said to no one in particular "Wow, I can't remember the last time I heard this" to which Dr. Parrott stopped over and told me about the playlist curation for the office, and how he had gathered all of the songs that he thought would keep people happy, bouncing, and smiling.
