I only had a Red Bull and beer during my visit to Maple Leaf. The decor is dive bar chic. I loved the concert- the space was big enough to dance but small enough to be an intimate space with the artist. The bartenders are so chill and I love they treat everyone like a regular so great energy overall. We will be back for cocktails during Mardi Gras!

Great, dark, little dive bar in Uptown section;. Great place for LIVE music 7 nights a week ( see below) Cool bartenders. Right next to a great restaurant ( Jacque Imo's) for pre- or post- dinner partying. Opens around 4-5 PM, closes between 12-2am ( depending on the date) Musical styles represented include blues, funk, R&B, rock, zydeco, jazz, jam bands and any combination thereof, and beyond, hosting both local performers and touring national acts. Currently home to 2018 Grammy Lifetime Achievement winner George Porter Jr. and his trio every Monday night, frequent performers at the Maple Leaf have included local legends James Booker, the Rebirth Brass Band, Papa Grows Funk, Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown, Walter "Wolfman" Washington, "Money Mike" Armstrong, The Radiators, Henry Butler, and untold more. Unannounced sit-ins are not uncommon; Bruce Springsteen once dropped in to jam with The Iguanas. Jon Cleary's band was once joined by his frequent employer, Bonnie Raitt.

If you want real NOLA music, Maple Leaf is a mandatory stop. There's a cover but well worth it. Mostly you will be standing but there a few pews lining the perimeter. A wonderful artist named Frenchy was painting the live musical act, George Porter Jr, among the best of NOLA Funk. There are bricks in the back patio where those who play here are commemorated.

We ventured out of the touristy French Quarter to Maple Leaf Bar on Oak Street. Unfortunately, Jacques-Imo's was closed (it was around 10pm on a Tuesday night) where we had hoped to grab dessert. We actually Lyft'd all the way across town from Bacchanal, which also had live music (see my review). Maple Leaf Bar has an authentic New Orleans venue vibe to it, and it seemed liked a lot of locals were there, although we surprisingly met another couple from S. Florida (small world). The bar has a back outdoor area to sit and have a drink. The music area is a bit narrow, with FCFS bench seating along the sides. We saw the To-Be-Continued brass band and they had that unique New Orleans brass and horn sections wall of sound to them, a few drummers, and a talented guitarist. What really brought it home was the tuba serving as the low-bass component (in lieu of bass guitar). If you want to experience live music off the beaten and over-worn track of the French Quarter, Maple Leaf Bar is a can't miss.

Amazing vibe with beautiful people who all share one things in common: their love for music! Divey bar tucked in between two delicious restaurants only a few minutes walk from the St. Charles & Oak Street trolley stop. Small stage in a large, long wood-floor room built for dancing and living your best life. Not only do I recommend, I demand you go!! ;)

Jaque-Imo's was closed and we needed beer. Maple Leaf Bar provided said beer. And they allow dogs in which is totally sweet.

Ask the Community - Maple Leaf Bar

Is there an open mic night and if so what day and time?

I was only there once since I was on vacation and nobody mentioned it and there wasn't any advertising there so I would venture a guess and say no.

What time and night(s) do they have the crawfish boil?

It is usually on Sundays at about 10:00 pm during the spring.

The Rivershack Tavern is well-named! It is located on River Road in a historic building that has a…read moregreat deal of character. This building might be considered by some a shack, and it certainly is a bar. However, it also serves up some amazing food. It's historic inside as well as outside, having classic signs, posters, and other New Orleans memorabilia displayed on virtually every surface, including the ceilings. Also noteworthy are their barstools, which have amusing legs attached. The interior is rather dark, even in the middle of the day, but don't let this deter you. Your eyes will quickly adjust. This might be an advantage if your visit is to engage in day-drinking! However, if your visit is to eat, first look for the board displaying the Daily Special. These are a great choice and may include things not normally on the menu. Variety is the spice of life and all... However, the menu is adequate for most any purpose. There are a great variety of sandwiches, wraps, salads, plates, and appetizers! I like that the sandwiches can be customized with sides. One can swap out regular fries for sweet potato fries, or there are really great and crispy tater tots! One can even opt for a bowl of gumbo or soup! Some of these changes involve a slight up-charge, but are worth it. Speaking of the soups and gumbos, these are really great choices. I happened to be there when French Onion Soup was part of the daily special, and it was amazing! Had a great big toasty chuck of bread with cheese on top, and the soup was rich and delicious. Their gumbo is a substantial choice, with great and deep flavors. I also recommend their BLT, which pairs well with a bowl of soup. The waitstaff is friendly and helpful and the prices are fair. This place is an experience that one should have while in the area. It's definitely a place you'll want to return to!

The mushrooms were great. The shrimp were just okay. I ordered a dried oyster basket with onion rings and my husband ordered a buffalo chicken sandwich. Both were very tasty. We sat at the bar and the bartender made us a round. The bartender was great and gave us a lot of tips about local hit stops. Hope you have as much fun as we did!!

The bartenders are friendly and engaging but 2 out of 3 don't know how to pour a beer. If I order a pint of beer I am expecting 16 ounces. Management seems to be dismissed. They are constantly running out of liquor. How does a bar run out of vodka? They have several beer taps but half are usually empty. There is no way to find out what bands are playing. I saw some posts on FB lady month but typically Facebook isn't updated, instagram link doesn't work. The website shows their last event from a year ago. In between band sets, the bartender puts on their music of choice, which can be head banging or techno. You should match the music to the crowd or genre of who is playing that night. I see they are making physical renovations to the place to attract people. You may get new interest but if the business is broken they will not come back. I was in there a couple of days ago and saw a box with Toys For Tots propped up against a wall under a beer sign. There was no signage, nothing to bring attention to it. Of course it was empty. I was told it wasn't going over too well. There were 2 menu's on the wall, not sure which was correct. It's been under new management for month or so. I am hoping they can turn this around.

They have a pretty good wine and beer selection, but they shine on their signature cocktails, of which there are so many that I could not reasonably list here, some of which rotate out regularly to keep variety up. Everything, and I mean *everything*, is reasonably priced, if not outright cheap. (5 stars) Service: Usually just a single bartender, except during shift changes, but the place is small enough, that is more than enough. All the 'tenders are friendly and efficient. (5 stars) Facilities: Martine's is located in a strip mall along Metairie Road. It's easily accessible from the Bonnebel exit off I-10. Signage is ample, but you have to be familiar with the turns along the street to be prepared to find it. There is some parking out front, and, as one goes to bars mainly at night, there isn't any competition for space then. There is a pool table, video poker, and what looks to be a non-functioning/unplugged pinball machine (never asked about it). The inside is smallish, and can probably hold about 50 people seated, including tables and bar stools. There is also outside seating available. It's clean, but, for whatever reason, the cigarette smoke lingers in the place. The management is aware and tries to work with customers on this angle. The decor is appropriate, with a saloon feel to it. (4 stars) Bonus 1: free pizza weeknights Bonus 2: free wings on Wednesday with Trivia Overall: The only things I dislike about this place are that it isn't walking distance from my place and the heavy cigarette smoke that makes my eyes burn.
