I went in mid-May 2023 to get a few vegetable plants. I have been gardening for over 50 years and have never experienced what I did with plants from Maple Grove. I bought 2 tomato plants (one for cherry tomatoes and one for supersonic (medium sized) tomatoes). I put each plant into its own raised bed, thinking there would be room for other plants. Each one is 4' X 8'. I added 3 cucumber plants to one bed and a pepper plant to the other. These plants took off like nothing I've ever experienced. I've so far harvested approximately 40 cukes from the 3 plants and over 100 cherry tomatoes from the one plant and many more are on the way (it's 9/4/23). The supersonic tomatoes are enormous and should be ripe later this week or next and are looking great. When I shopped, I had a few questions and was helped by a young man working them. When I checked out, I paid w/ cash and the young woman was very helpful. I had no customer service issues whatsoever, notwithstanding what I read in other customers' posts. Maybe I got lucky. The prices were high but the quality was like nothing I've ever experienced. I've marked my calendar to return next May, cause I don't need another nursery, if they continue to sell plants of the same quality. I won't be buying the cucumbers again because the smallest they offer is a pot containing 3 cuke plants and it's too many for us. Though, I have perfected a pickle recipe! Will be going after zukes, tomatoes, and whatever else looks good. Can't wait to return!! read more

I've been buying my flowers and plants at Maple Grove for 25 years... I won't shop anywhere else. They have the BEST quality and selection, and their pre-arranged planters and pots are gorgeous. And Marcella is always SO helpful and sweet. I love this place. read more

The nursery has a huge parking lot. It is located across the street from a funeral home. This morning, 12/19/23 a funeral was held for an active FDNY EMT. Naturally, such a funeral draws a large crowd of uniformed members. Funeral attendees needing parking accommodations used the parking lot of Maple Grove Nursery as it was large and completely empty. It turns out it was empty because as the sign in the window of the business states "closed for winter". The owner called the police and complained about his parking lot. Clearly it was not affecting business as he is "closed for winter". He had everyone move their cars instead of being a gentleman and allowing his empty parking lot to be used for a good cause. read more

Limited selection and subpar customer service. Went to Maple Grove looking for Cast Iron plants and/or pet friendly plants that do well in low-moderate light. Staff told me that they did not have cast iron plants or know if any pet friendly plants other than a small palm. She didn't seem interested in helping me. read more

This is in response to a post by Sam A. on Jan 14, 2024 regarding a local nursery. While he is correct that the funeral of an active duty firefighter, EMT or police officer will draw a large crowd, he misses the point of the property owners concern. When the owner came by to check on his business he was unaware of what was happening. The business is private property and someone without permission took it upon themselves to open the gate to said property which allowed cars to enter. The fact that the nursery is "closed for the winter" is irrelevant with regard to people entering his property without permission. Furthermore, the owner did not ask anyone who was already parked there to move their cars and there was no police involvement. Ample parking could be found in the public parking lot next door, on the street or at the local fire department about a block away without intruding on the nursery's property. Your criticism of this business is uncalled for and unfair. read more

Went there today to purchase flowers. Once I had what I needed I went into the building to pay where I saw a sign that said they were charging a 3.84% fee for all credit card and debit card purchases. I commented that that sign would be better at the start of their property and not at the end when it's a little too late. It would advise people of the difference between the cash price and the credit price - similar to gas stations that advertise both before you pull into the station. As I had no cash, I said I would still buy them and signed the receipt. I never got loud or angry. It was the principal for me. All of a sudden an angry older man came from behind a wall and started yelling and harassing me that he would not sell me the flowers, that it's posted on the door (and slammed the door three times to emphasize his point) and to GET OUT, GET OUT, GET OUT! I asked why he was being so rude and he said he's the boss. I said well I'm the customer and I will never shop here again. I don't care how beautiful the flowers are. He is the rudest man I have ever encountered in a vendor/customer situation. It doesn't hurt me at all not to shop there. He lost that purchase which was over $100 and any future business from me. read more

These are the nastiest people on earth. They wouldn't let my 89 year old mother-in-law purchase flowers after she questioned why they didn't carry a certain plant. They claimed she threw flowers on the ground. Didn't happen. They first said they had video to prove it, then said they weren't sure the camera had recorded the incident and are now telling me to come in next week bc they are too busy. Elder abuse. read more

Rude and unfriendly people. Bought a tomato plant a month ago and as the tomatoes grow out they are rotting. In all my years of growing tomatoes this has never happened. I know what I am doing in the garden and this plant was not healthy. Will never buy from them again. read more

This is a nice neighborhood nursery with great flowers and small plants for the home garden. The quality is exceptional and the service is quick and pleasant. Just be prepared - they prefer all cash payments. They will accept credit or debit cards but you will be charged an additional 4 percent of your total purchase . read more

The prices at this place are laughable. I live down by white plains but I am up here for a soccer game so I popped in here. They are charging double what Whole Foods charges for Mums. Not sure why that would be up here? Nice mums but silly prices. read more

I genuinely don't understand the bad reviews for this nursery. I have bought my flowers, herbs and small bushes here for the last eight years and I have always been happy with my purchases. The flowers are hardy and strong in comparison to other places I have bought from and they last usually well into September. I found the staff to be helpful and accommodating and although the cashier/owner isn't overly effusive, she's always perfectly nice and helpful. It has the best selection of plants in Northern Westchester/Putnam and yearly I take a special trip to get our plants here because I'm never disappointed. Don't listen to the naysayers, it really is the best place to buy your flowers. read more

Just had a terrible incident here. On our way here we had stopped @ Benvenuto's & had a slice. When we got out @ the nursery my husband had the pizza box in his hand. He approached the elderly man who looked as if he might be he owner & asked him if he had a garbage can where my husband could discard the trash. The man's eyes narrowed with suspicion & he asked my husband, what kind of garbage was it? My husband answered, it's cardboard. Then, the man realized it was a pizza box at which point he started hollering at my husband. He said, no, we have to take our own garbage home & throw it away there! But, he was extremely nasty in the manner he said this & my husband responded in kind. Words were exchanged and then the man charged my husband and butted him in the chest! I was looking at geraniums at this moment, but the man was so angry it was kind of scary. He was screaming that he wanted us both off the premises and that he refused to sell us anything at which point we left. This man's reaction was so extreme, so over the top, it was really crazy! It was only a pizza box but from the way he reacted, you'd think we asked him to dispose of a dead body! Certainly this man knows nothing about customer service! Yikes! read more

The plants here are amazing, the prices are super high and the staff is uninterested in you and could hardly care less if you have been there every day for a week or every other day. I came to this nursery for 2 years but changed to Claire's when I came back a month later and the person there recognised me, remembered my name, asked how my family was doing and gave me a flower to bring home to plant for my daughter as a bonus!! I prefer Claire's Garden Center because of the service and quality of there products, but Maple grove has very beautiful strong healthy plants and when I am in a jam I know they most likely have what I need. read more

Flowers don't make it. Whatever they use in the nursery, makes the flowers look healthy and beautiful...once you plant them in your garden - most don't make it. Very unprofessional people there as well. I would not buy from this place again. read more

Spend hundreds of $s here cause the flowers look so beautiful. Once you plant them in your garden thou - most of these flowers won't make it. I've been caring and planting flowers for years so it was not me not knowing how to treat these flowers. I also want to mention how rude and unprofessional the guy (believe either the owner or the manager) was when I told him about the flowers. He did not once apologize but instead questioned what I said to him. Very arrogant. I asked him to replace at least a few of them and his response was 'you should go somewhere else'. Well, I definitely will spend my money somewhere else. read more
